Dad beat autistic son Joe Clyde Daniels to death, hid his body in remote area: affidavit

Violent details have been released in the murder of 5-year-old Joe Clyde Daniels.

According to an affidavit, Joe's father, Joseph Ray Daniels, confessed to police that he beat his non-verbal, autistic son to death at their Dickson home on April 4.

Daniels told police that he "struck his son...repeatedly in the body, upper torso, head, and face with closed-fist until his son was deceased," the affidavit says.

Young Joe Clyde died at his residence along Garners Creek Road. Daniels told authorities he put the kindergartner's body in the truck of his car and "disposed" of his son's body in a remote, rural area. As of Monday morning, Joe Clyde's body still hasn't been found after authorities searched through the weekend.

Daniels called 911 to report his son missing.

Joseph Daniels pens letter claiming Joe Clyde was killed by his mother

The father of Joe Clyde Daniels, Joseph Daniels, confessed to killing the 5-year-old autistic boy, but he's now pointing the finger at someone else - his wife, Krystal Daniels.

It's one of a couple of new developments in the case. Joseph Daniels is currently charged with homicide in the death of his son -- mostly based on a confession that Joseph has since recanted.

Why does it take so long for sentencing? If he was instantly sentenced for the murder charges why not go ahead and take care of the rest of the charges at the same time and save everyone's time? As for Krystal's trial it's been a long time coming, Covid really put the brakes on the Criminal justice system. I'm glad things are finally getting moving again in this case now we just need for Joseph to tell the truth and let baby Joe be laid to rest in a proper burial.

It's delayed even crime victims burials. That makes it worse.

So who did these remains that were not Joe belong to found in 2018? Did they ever determine?

It is sad they have not found him so he can be laid to rest with a place and some dignity. I don't see that not finding him shows anything as far as what happened or who is responsible. I hope he is found one day.

This is the only thing I could find about the remains found in Pegram, it basically states that the remains are adult in size and only partial remains were found.

In this case they tried to do it in September but between the State, Defense and the Judge, they all had other trials coming up and they couldn't find a date until February.

Private investigator continues to search for Joe Clyde Daniels' body

Will Joe Clyde's body ever be found? His body still has not been found, but that doesn't mean the case is closed.

The little boy had a birthday this past weekend; he would have turned nine this past Saturday. And it's a reminder he's still missing and the search for remains continues.

"You're looking for remains of a smaller child. You don't come across those things every day," said Newschannel5 legal analyst Nick Leonardo.

It's believed, of course, that Joe Clyde is dead, but where is the body?

"We're here to find Joe Clyde Daniels," said David Marshburn - an investigator from North Carolina. Marshburn was in Dickson several times over the past few years along with many others searching for the little boy's remains. He even called sheriff deputies out to collect possible evidence during Joseph's trial.

He says he'll be back later this year with new theories on where to look -- though he suspects, as he did in 2019, there won't be much left to find.

"It will be there, but scattered. And if there are remains your dogs will hit on it? Yes sir. Guaranteed."

Of course, to date, searchers have found no trace of the child within a six-mile radius of the home.

Of course, there are cases where a victim's body is never found. But the hope is someday Joe Clyde can be given a proper burial.

He's found several people. One of the few "high-profile" PIs who have.

Looks like he was last out there in June. Private investigator discovers piece of metal near Daniels’ property

Interestingly, prior to the conviction, he did not believe the parents were guilty.

He's not the only one questioning the verdict.
