The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the ongoing search for a missing/endangered 11-year-old Colorado Springs boy who went missing Monday afternoon, and the task force investigating his disappearance is organizing a team of volunteers to start searching for him.

Gannon Stauch was believed to be a runaway after he left his home southeast of Colorado Springs between 3:15 and 4 p.m. on Monday. But as the week progressed, his disappearance was upgraded to a missing/endangered person case.

His stepmother said he left his home on foot to play at a friend’s house down the street on Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies and major crimes detectives had taken “extraordinary steps” to locate the boy, the sheriff’s office said. They were actively searching for evidence and taking witness statements, a sheriff’s office news release issued earlier this week read.

“He’s very young, it’s dark and cold outside and we want to bring Gannon to safety,” the sheriff’s said in a Facebook post earlier this week.

On Thursday afternoon, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and other task force members, as well as Stauch’s parents, hosted a news conference to update the community on his disappearance, discuss the steps being taken in the investigation, and to notify people in the area that they are organizing volunteers to begin a community search effort in coming days.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mitch Mahalko said the sheriff’s office received the investigation on Tuesday afternoon and started doing interviews and collecting video surveillance and talking to neighbors, working to collect new leads.

He said that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and FBI got involved after the case was upgraded to a missing/endangered child case. The FBI’s team specializes in search and rescue and “will be a good partner” in the investigation, Mahalko said.

He said the investigation was active and that authorities were conducting interviews with witnesses and collecting evidence – exhausting every lead they receive.

Mahalko said investigators were looking at “persons of interest” in the case as people who might be able to give them additional information on Stauch’s whereabouts.

He declined to say where authorities had been searching but confirmed that investigators had been in contact with some trash companies in El Paso County and in the Lorson Ranch area.

Kirby stressed that people with tips should report them to their tip line – 719-520-6666 – and not on social media because any tips sent to the sheriff’s office on social media will not be considered.

I have the feeling it's a last ditch(and not very good) effort to prove her "insanity" to viewers. But no chance, we have heard from many witnesses how calculated and manipulative she acted. It's still hard to believe how she managed to get Gannon to Florida without anyone noticing !
Yes just shows how determined and deceptive she is and plotting and planning to pull that off under everyone's nose and an investigation going on.

Her defense is certainly questioning the expert on the stand this morning. None of it imo excuses anything with her. Going on about DID, psychopaths, etc.

There is so much on this case. I have missed what the possible penalties are. Across state lines makes it a federal offense. Automatically eligible for the death penalty. Florida also is a death penalty state. Is that an option here?. She is the perfect candidate for it.
Well it is a Colorado case here and CO's death penalty has no teeth and the current and former governor(s) don't carry it out, like it's on HOLD. Don't think it has been abolished but it may as well be looked at that way at least until and if someone gets back in office there that carries it out again.

No fed charges I'm aware of as of now. She does have the escape attempt in another state that is on hold until this is tried. My guess would be when she GETS LIFE IN PRISON for this, they may not go forward with those.

It was still present during Frazee which has been since I've been on here these couple of years. Not surprised it was abolished and honestly I may have heard that but it never had impact as even when they had it, it was basically on hold and all such stayed by the lib governor at the time.

per article

"The bill passed the Senate by a 19-13 vote on January 30, and the House by a 38-27 vote o"

It would be like if California abolished it. All would just go ho hum, you don't execute anyhow, you just spend tons of money on it and housing them for life on death row and funnel money, as they also do with adoption and illegal immigrants and tons of other things.

They just deal with appeals forever from inmates who will never be put to death anyhow. Hey but at least the costs are there and the attorneys are making money.

Had day off but haven't been able to watch anything since this morning. Was it worth watching? This morning was kind of a yawn the part I did watch.
Nothing earth shattering, she tries to fake multiple personalities and basically blames Al for everything. Everything about her, all lies. I didn't even watch till the end, I've had enough of her. My prediction is that the jury will reach a verdict super quickly.

Thanks. I appreciate knowing if something is worth taking the hours to watch.

I don't even know why she bothered with going to trial (although most do) because the evidence in this one always has been overwhelming. The similarities in these two cases I never noted before as they are vastly different in other ways but we have vampires and zombies. We have sadly overkill of the children in both cases and desecration/abuse of their bodies. We have the bodies moved. We have two women who used or danced the path of mental health defense although Lori didn't go that route but she sure used it. We have chronic liars/storytellers. And manipulation.

And two very clearly guilty defendants imo. Both are costing fortunes and more grief for the families imo and all in the world watching are learning the details of just how horrid and wicked they are by getting their "day" in court. Or weeks we should say in these cases.

I wonder if we will see more characters and cases like theirs over time. Maybe they are products of this age, who knows? They are fully responsible for what they did, no question. I just wonder sometimes where all this is coming from in people like that.
I sure hope not but yeah there seems to be a lack of something and a me first and what I want mentality along with a lack of being able to "adult" or get through hard times without resorting to extremes is kind of how I see some of it. Most of us have lines we won't cross and fight sometimes maybe not to when things are at their worst. They cross them, likely always have and bot away with it and then that next line they hadn't crossed yet, more serioius, seems more attainable and they at some point let themselves go that far... And they get no consequences and so...

I don't know. Just rambling in an effort to understand the incomprehensible.... :(

This sounds like it will be wrapping up Monday or Tuesday and go to the jury, is that how you understand it @Whatsnext ? One final witness for prosecution, then the defense expert and then closing arguments and jury instruction. Does the defense plan on any other witnesses? And do you know who the last person is for the prosecution?

I was able to catch the tail end of the last witness today and then the talk after of the judge with the attorneys and plans for Monday, etc.

You know more than me, I gave up pretty early, I couldn't take it anymore! But yes, it could be over next week. I have no doubt about the verdict. She knew all the time what she was doing😐
Justice for Gannon 💙💙💙
