The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the ongoing search for a missing/endangered 11-year-old Colorado Springs boy who went missing Monday afternoon, and the task force investigating his disappearance is organizing a team of volunteers to start searching for him.

Gannon Stauch was believed to be a runaway after he left his home southeast of Colorado Springs between 3:15 and 4 p.m. on Monday. But as the week progressed, his disappearance was upgraded to a missing/endangered person case.

His stepmother said he left his home on foot to play at a friend’s house down the street on Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies and major crimes detectives had taken “extraordinary steps” to locate the boy, the sheriff’s office said. They were actively searching for evidence and taking witness statements, a sheriff’s office news release issued earlier this week read.

“He’s very young, it’s dark and cold outside and we want to bring Gannon to safety,” the sheriff’s said in a Facebook post earlier this week.

On Thursday afternoon, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and other task force members, as well as Stauch’s parents, hosted a news conference to update the community on his disappearance, discuss the steps being taken in the investigation, and to notify people in the area that they are organizing volunteers to begin a community search effort in coming days.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mitch Mahalko said the sheriff’s office received the investigation on Tuesday afternoon and started doing interviews and collecting video surveillance and talking to neighbors, working to collect new leads.

He said that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and FBI got involved after the case was upgraded to a missing/endangered child case. The FBI’s team specializes in search and rescue and “will be a good partner” in the investigation, Mahalko said.

He said the investigation was active and that authorities were conducting interviews with witnesses and collecting evidence – exhausting every lead they receive.

Mahalko said investigators were looking at “persons of interest” in the case as people who might be able to give them additional information on Stauch’s whereabouts.

He declined to say where authorities had been searching but confirmed that investigators had been in contact with some trash companies in El Paso County and in the Lorson Ranch area.

Kirby stressed that people with tips should report them to their tip line – 719-520-6666 – and not on social media because any tips sent to the sheriff’s office on social media will not be considered.

Whoa, Mr Grusing gave her some heat as well in that interview! Love his different approaches
I listened to this mornings thus far but won't have further time to catch more. He was very good. Another morning though of having to listen to her. How they do it and how they can stay patient with such types I have no idea as she was irritating the heck out of me.

I prefer not to watch any live court streams on youtube (too many chatting and not paying attention the actual testimony) and for this trial I'm greatful Judge Werner has a live stream from the courtroom.

Yeah that's the way it should be and that's how it can be streamed and he allowed that too. Way better than the way the Vallow one is being done. Imo.

Linda. Worth watching as she usually is, doing a concise not long recap of important points re T's internet searches, etc. Interesting that both cases had such things today.

I wish I had time to watch both or at least ONE and stay informed. Linda does that here with some of today's.

I just saw a pic on Twitter. What the heck? She looks like she gained 50 lbs, too. Of course, now that I'm trying to find a pic to share, I can't find one.
Yeah, she's a heavyweight... Either someone funds her canteen or she beats up others and steals their meals. She certainly isn't dieting and exercising I'd hazard a guess... And can they get hair cuts??? Because all that hair and how long and all she does is use it to hide. I mean in jail and prison think of how long that would take to wash and brush out and how much shampoo etc. it would take, all things that I would think she wouldn't have tons of and brushes etc. wouldn't be the best.

Lori Vallow too. Be interesting to see once in prison if they maintain the long locks.

OMG just now I started to watch the beginning of Stauch today and wow, what a hair do.... Clearly she sees remarks or hears them from someone or her attorney or who knows so now we are going for a style that never in her life would she wear or has and on top of it maybe make one think some crazy bit*h in jail insisted on doing her hair for her. What is she trying to look like some evil school marm from back in the day?

Even though I haven't got to see all I have watched a fair amount. She knows exactly what is what and ALWAYS has. Maybe she just got jealous of the Vallow case getting all the attention and tried something newsworthy with her new look lol.

There have been many remarks throughout about her greasy hair, her hiding behind her hair, then of course not hiding and giving the finger, etc. So of course she tries a new tactic I guess but to me it shows she is hearing of comments or they are and advising... Mr. Rocking man (NO, not Rocket Man)...

it really bites these two trials are running at the same time because there is definitely just as much in this one to watch and go on about. and I haven't even watched the 1/2 of either.

Maybe I should be nice or try to. She may not have a mirror as she'd break it and use it as a weapon so did her best attempt on hair. But that doesn't explain her loopy acting behavior.

I have the feeling it's a last ditch(and not very good) effort to prove her "insanity" to viewers. But no chance, we have heard from many witnesses how calculated and manipulative she acted. It's still hard to believe how she managed to get Gannon to Florida without anyone noticing !

There is so much on this case. I have missed what the possible penalties are. Across state lines makes it a federal offense. Automatically eligible for the death penalty. Florida also is a death penalty state. Is that an option here?. She is the perfect candidate for it.
