The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the ongoing search for a missing/endangered 11-year-old Colorado Springs boy who went missing Monday afternoon, and the task force investigating his disappearance is organizing a team of volunteers to start searching for him.

Gannon Stauch was believed to be a runaway after he left his home southeast of Colorado Springs between 3:15 and 4 p.m. on Monday. But as the week progressed, his disappearance was upgraded to a missing/endangered person case.

His stepmother said he left his home on foot to play at a friend’s house down the street on Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies and major crimes detectives had taken “extraordinary steps” to locate the boy, the sheriff’s office said. They were actively searching for evidence and taking witness statements, a sheriff’s office news release issued earlier this week read.

“He’s very young, it’s dark and cold outside and we want to bring Gannon to safety,” the sheriff’s said in a Facebook post earlier this week.

On Thursday afternoon, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and other task force members, as well as Stauch’s parents, hosted a news conference to update the community on his disappearance, discuss the steps being taken in the investigation, and to notify people in the area that they are organizing volunteers to begin a community search effort in coming days.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mitch Mahalko said the sheriff’s office received the investigation on Tuesday afternoon and started doing interviews and collecting video surveillance and talking to neighbors, working to collect new leads.

He said that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and FBI got involved after the case was upgraded to a missing/endangered child case. The FBI’s team specializes in search and rescue and “will be a good partner” in the investigation, Mahalko said.

He said the investigation was active and that authorities were conducting interviews with witnesses and collecting evidence – exhausting every lead they receive.

Mahalko said investigators were looking at “persons of interest” in the case as people who might be able to give them additional information on Stauch’s whereabouts.

He declined to say where authorities had been searching but confirmed that investigators had been in contact with some trash companies in El Paso County and in the Lorson Ranch area.

Kirby stressed that people with tips should report them to their tip line – 719-520-6666 – and not on social media because any tips sent to the sheriff’s office on social media will not be considered.

Letecia Stauch sues over alleged kosher violations & medical neglect at El Paso County Jail

Letecia Stauch, who is currently incarcerated at the El Paso County Jail on charges of killing her stepson Gannon Stauch, is now suing El Paso County over alleged violations of her kosher diet and medical neglect at the jail, according to the lawsuit which was filed on Thursday, Sept. 22.

Stauch alleges her Freedom of Religion rights were violated while in jail, due to her kosher diet and the alleged neglect of medical treatment. Stauch alleges that she was served non-kosher meals, even after she said she filed complaints within the jail.

In addition to the County, Stauch also named two deputies in the suit, along with a food service and medical provider at the jail.

On Sept. 15 Stauch was in court after her lawyers filed for a second mental health evaluation. The hearing was delayed an hour due to a disturbance, and Stauch’s next court date was set for Oct. 13.

FOX21 did reach out to El Paso County and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office for comment. Both declined as they do “not comment on pending litigation.”
STFU LETICIA!!!! Unbelievable. Just give her death and we will be free of her nonsense. She wouldn't do it again then. Right?.

The gall about someone who tortures and kills a small boy and then whines about her kosher diet not being observed is beyond words. Pretty sure she changed religions or adopted one so that she could make such a complaint. It is lengthy citing all sorts of laws and infractions the way I understand it. She has been quite busy I guess and will likely continue to file things during her decades in prison is my guess. Yeah, sometimes there definitely needs to be a death sentence. Gannon's family is likely never going to be rid of her rearing her ugly head.

Wanna bet she never knew what "kosher" was prior to prison?

I sure hope they go through all of her social media and look for food posts!
No kidding. I'd peg her as the type for whatever is trendy. Lattes, chai tea, sashimi, California tacos, whatever SHE thinks is THE thing of whatever time period. Just going by some of the videos.

On the other hand I could also see her as a cheeseburger and fries and pork rinds, deep fried candy bar type.

Probably ate well and starved Gannon. Monster.

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Thursday, the El Paso County woman accused of killing her 11-year-old stepson is set to appear in court for a motions hearing.

Letecia Stauch was arrested in March 2020 for the murder of Gannon Stauch, who was first reported missing in January 2020. His body was eventually found under a Florida bridge.

Stauch previously entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.

Thursday's motions hearing is expected to go over an outstanding motion for a change of venue and waiving of a jury trial.

The court also hasn't received the second sanity evaluation report for Letecia. An August 2022 sanity examination from the Colorado Mental Health Institute determined Stauch is "sane."

The hearing is expected to also go over the length of time for jury selection - which is set to begin on March 20 - and potential witnesses in the case.

The motions hearing will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Jury selection to start for woman accused of killing 11-year-old stepson Gannon Stauch
The jury selection for a woman accused of killing her 11-year-old stepson will begin in March, according to ABC affiliate KRDO in Colorado Springs.

Letecia Stauch, who is accused of killing Gannon in 2020, is set to go to trial on March 20, 2023.

During a motion hearing, a judge said the jury selection could potentially last months. The Fourth Judicial District Attorney Michael Allen said the prosecution's case alone will take six weeks to present to a jury.

LETECIA STAUCH CASE ON TRACK FOR JURY TRIAL IN LATE MARCH

The case against Letecia Stauch is on track to start late next month in El Paso County, Colorado.

During a hearing Thursday, the court received an update on where the prosecution and defense are in their pre-trial preparations, and there was a discussion regarding jury selection. There was no discussion about a potential change of venue.

As of Thursday, the court does not have a final report from the defense’s sanity expert who interviewed Stauch. There’s an issue with that expert getting documentation from the state hospital in Pueblo to finalize the report, but there appeared to be little concern that it would not be available in the next two weeks.

The jury trial process is expected to start on March 20 with an estimated 2 weeks of jury selection, an expected start of evidence presentation no later than April 3, and about six weeks for the presentation of the case.

A hearing Thursday afternoon is expected to be Letecia Stauch's final court appearance before the start of her trial later this month.

Stauch, 39, is accused of killing her 11-year-old stepson Gannon in January 2020. Attorneys at the hearing will be asked by Judge Gregory Werner to declare ready for trial, and if both the prosecution and defense declare ready Stauch's trial will go ahead as scheduled.
