Six women found dead in the Portland, Oregon area in 2023 *ARREST*

Six women have been found dead in less than three months in secluded, wooded areas in the Portland, Oregon, region, but law enforcement authorities said they have not found any evidence that the cases are linked.

The women's bodies were found within 100 miles of each other, the Portland Police Bureau said in a news release over the weekend. Police have not determined whether they were all homicide victims, but they were all under age 40.


Although news of the deaths was widely circulated on social media, the Portland Police Bureau said there was no reason to believe the deaths were connected. (more at link)

Accused serial killer Jesse Calhoun's trial delayed until 2029
One of the highest profile criminal cases in recent Oregon memory won't go to trial for nearly three years , KATU has learned.

Jesse Calhoun, who is charged in the deaths of six women, will go to trial in February 2029 at the earliest according to court records.

The new trial dates are a result of a status check hearing held Monday at the Multnomah County Courthouse , at which only attorneys not Calhoun attended.

Calhoun, who has waived the right to a speedy trial, could even go to trial as late as September 2029.

The next hearing in the case is another status check in April 2027. Once again Calhoun has waived his appearance and only attorneys are expected to appear.

Motion hearings are currently scheduled for February 2028.

Authorities have not revealed how the women died or a motive and since he has waived the right to a speedy trial that has also delayed any possible bail hearing, where prosecutors would reveal more details.
