Six women have been found dead in less than three months in secluded, wooded areas in the Portland, Oregon, region, but law enforcement authorities said they have not found any evidence that the cases are linked.

The women's bodies were found within 100 miles of each other, the Portland Police Bureau said in a news release over the weekend. Police have not determined whether they were all homicide victims, but they were all under age 40.

Although news of the deaths was widely circulated on social media, the Portland Police Bureau said there was no reason to believe the deaths were connected. (more at link)

Grieving Portland families turn loss into community support

Families of women found dead in the Portland area are demanding answers and pushing for justice. The United Justice Group, representing three of the affected families, is taking action to hold those responsible accountable.

Diana Allen, who lost her daughter Charity Perry in March 2023, is one of the grieving parents seeking truth and justice. Perry was one of four women, including Joanna Speaks, Bridget Webster, and Kristin Smith, found dead under suspicious circumstances in secluded areas near Portland.

"I can't handle the graveside of this. I really can't," Allen said. "But the investigative side, that one, that one I can take head-on, no matter how horrible the answers are, because that's the truth. And the truth is what helps me get through it…I just want the answers and the truth," said Allen.

The United Justice Group is actively working to bring hope and justice to the families affected. "To give other families hope. Hope to find their loved ones, hope to find their answers, hope to find the truth, and to find justice when it's needed," said Allen.

In a bid to honor the women they lost, members of the United Justice Group gathered at Growers Market in Eugene. They donated winter coats, gloves, hats, and supplies for unhoused individuals and others in need.

"I just hope that if anybody feels as small as I do, and they're telling me that I'm making a difference to them, that they know they can make a difference, too," Allen said.

The trial for Jesse Calhoun, the suspected murderer of Perry, was delayed until September 2027. It could be pushed back further if he is indicted in the murder of Ashley Real, another woman found dead in Portland in early 2023.

I have copied this from my post 124 and will update as needed.

**Kristen Smith 22Dec22, 19Feb23
*Charity Perry 8Mar23, 24Apr23
*JoAnna Speaks 18Mar23, 8Apr23
Ashley Real 7Apr23, 7May23
*Bridget Webster 26Apr23, 30Apr23
Unidentified female in tent Apr23

*Calhoun indicted **additional Aug 2025

The indictment claims Calhoun killed Perry on March 8, 2023. Her body was discovered on April 24 in a culvert near Ainsworth State Park in the Columbia River Gorge.
Speaks was murdered on March 18, 2023, according to the indictment. Her body was found near an abandoned barn in Ridgefield on April 8. According to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office, Speaks died of blunt head and neck injuries.

Calhoun is accused of killing Webster on April 26, 2023, according to the indictment. Webster’s body was discovered in rural Polk County on April 30, about 70 miles from Portland.

Multnomah County prosecutors confirm they continue to investigate the deaths of two other women who
may also be linked to Calhoun, Kristin Smith and Ashley Real.

Not sure if this has been posted before but it looks like LE could have been on to Calhoun sooner. This is Nov 11th 2022 that police were called. Then from the next month, Dec 2022 to April 2023 he murdered 5 women in as many months, including the last one - Real - in April '23. LE really dropped the ball here.

From the link-

"Real’s body was the latest one found, on May 7. Her father, Jose Real, told The Associated Press on Friday that he called police on Nov. 11 after she showed up, crying, at his Portland home, saying she had been choked by Calhoun. She had marks on her throat, he said, and he took her to a hospital."

The justice system in Oregon is pathetic, at best.
Here is a joke. In the last couple years they let a man out for killing his wife.in the early 80's dismembering his wife in the bathtub. His mother stood guard to make sure the childten didn't wake up to use the bathroom. Disposing of a lot of her down the garbage disposal. Fed some to the dog. I apologize for the graphics. He should never have been let out! Another. They didn't find her body. The husband said he dismembered her. Just in the last 20 years. Let out. I don't remember date specifics, but the woman's name was Toni Bachmann. IDC if they were personal crimes and pose no risk to the public. Those crimes are beyond. You die in prison. We had some let out, only to commit more sex offenses, and move on to being prime suspects in murders. There have been outcries from the families. They were ignored.
