Madeleine Beth McCann (born 12 May 2003) disappeared on the evening of 3 May 2007 from her bed in a holiday apartment at a resort in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve region of Portugal. Her whereabouts remain unknown.[3] The Daily Telegraph described the disappearance as "the most heavily reported missing-person case in modern history".[4]

Madeleine was on holiday from the UK with her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann; her two-year-old twin siblings; and a group of family friends and their children. She and the twins had been left asleep at 20:30 in the ground-floor apartment, while the McCanns and friends dined in a restaurant 55 metres (180 ft) away.[5] The parents checked on the children throughout the evening, until Madeleine's mother discovered she was missing at 22:00.

I have to agree that the entire worldwide headline grabbing thing of all of this by the prosecutor is very odd if it is a serious investigation, suspect and probe into a very well known case...

First time I agree with the McCanns, lol. This is not professional behaviour. IMO this will just turn out to be another huge blunder by german police.
 
I am watching the Netflix documentary about Madeline I never really did get the feeling that the parents had anything to do with this their biggest crime was making that bad decision of leaving the kids at the resort while they went to the restaurant and they have to live with that for the rest of their lives. Not a great decision but like I said I don't want to rehash that they have to live with it and that is a terrible thing. But what a media circus this whole entire case was and the scene was contaminated from the first minutes she was discovered missing.

Way back, I never for some reason felt it was the parents but in the years since, I see many people that do and read their reasons why. I never followed it religiously over the years either so perhaps missed things.

I just don't know. On one hand, I can actually see being naive enough to think you are close enough to the children and tourist areas like to make all sunny and safe feeling but it is not the way it often is underneath. More recently I learned they were further away from where they were dining than I had previously thought.

I do agree that it is something they have to live with and they have endured a ton of public scrutiny as well and still do. i will just add that I have never been to Portugal but what they say about blonde haired children and women for instance in Mexico does have some truth to it, they are very much noticed and even more so in areas that do not draw a ton of youthful tourists. For that reason and a few others, I lean towards abduction sadly and typically I don't in most cases. I do think there were more than a few poor choices made that night but the parents can't change that.

My opinion is subject to change though from week to week lol...

I am still sceptical about this suspect, but if all this means that Madeleine will be found, it's defenitely worth it.❤
You have to consider that the interest in her case faded and the donations to her fund also did.
Then suddenly there is a new suspect, out of nowhere. Hmmm.

That is an interesting observation and gives food for thought... I don't think, short of her being found, any answer is ever going to be believed by everyone, even if someone were to confess. Jmo.

I think you are right, even if her remains will be found, I think there won't be enough left of that sweetheart to determine her cause or manner of death, which means that everybody (me included!) Will be able to twist everything according to their own theory. Just like with Jonbenet , this might never get solved.😐

I actually thought of Jon Benet when I wrote that. So long has passed and there are so many doubts and theories that regardless, as you say, it will be twisted to fit one's own theory. Even if she is found in a spot that truly implicates someone, i.e., on someone's property, etc. who is a known criminal or sex offender, I think some will figure it is a cover-up or planted just to solve/provide an answer, even if that was a reach, some will still think that. Great point too that no manner of death would be found most likely, I never even thought of that. If her body is found ever, it would answer for most if believed whether she is alive or dead. If she is alive, I don't think her life will have been anything even close to pleasant.

This one and Jon Benet are probably the most well known unsolved child cases, in one there was a body and in one there is not. However, the theories and years without answers and questions re the investigations, etc. are rampant in both.
