Madeleine Beth McCann (born 12 May 2003) disappeared on the evening of 3 May 2007 from her bed in a holiday apartment at a resort in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve region of Portugal. Her whereabouts remain unknown.[3] The Daily Telegraph described the disappearance as "the most heavily reported missing-person case in modern history".[4]

Madeleine was on holiday from the UK with her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann; her two-year-old twin siblings; and a group of family friends and their children. She and the twins had been left asleep at 20:30 in the ground-floor apartment, while the McCanns and friends dined in a restaurant 55 metres (180 ft) away.[5] The parents checked on the children throughout the evening, until Madeleine's mother discovered she was missing at 22:00.

I actually thought of Jon Benet when I wrote that. So long has passed and there are so many doubts and theories that regardless, as you say, it will be twisted to fit one's own theory. Even if she is found in a spot that truly implicates someone, i.e., on someone's property, etc. who is a known criminal or sex offender, I think some will figure it is a cover-up or planted just to solve/provide an answer, even if that was a reach, some will still think that. Great point too that no manner of death would be found most likely, I never even thought of that. If her body is found ever, it would answer for most if believed whether she is alive or dead. If she is alive, I don't think her life will have been anything even close to pleasant.

This one and Jon Benet are probably the most well known unsolved child cases, in one there was a body and in one there is not. However, the theories and years without answers and questions re the investigations, etc. are rampant in both.
and in both, answers were lost due to terrible police work.

TikTok user under fire for claiming to be missing toddler Madeleine McCann

A woman claiming she could be missing toddler Madeleine McCann has sparked outrage online.

Now, 14 years on, social media users have started a trend where they pretend to be the missing girl.

In one clip, which has gone viral, a young blonde woman with two distinctly different coloured eyes claims to have been staying 37 minutes from the villa in Praia da Luz when Madeleine vanished.

Madeleine had a distinctive brown strip on her right eye.

In the clip, captioned “My mates joke about me being Madeleine McCann”, she also shared picture of herself when she was a toddler, which showed her with a similar haircut to the youngster.

While some users thought the similarities were spooky and urged the girl to get a DNA test, others were not impressed.

Several users thought she had posted the clip in the hopes of getting “likes”.

“What people do for views,” one person wrote.

“You shouldn’t joke about something that still brings pain to people,” wrote another.

“Why use this to try and get fame, wanna have a reality check?” another wrote.

I find this disgusting. If you truly thought you may be her, you would contact authorities. There should be a charge of some kind for things like this. I am assuming it is not true of course.

Wow. Let's hope.

There is much in this article that is disturbing. Why is this man not in prison for life? 7 years for raping a 72 year old woman?! Tons of prior convictions? They found USBs with evidence of child abuse and found children's bathing suits and have not charged him with anything further?

"German news reports say he has 17 convictions for child abuse and child pornography, driving without a license and drunk driving, assault, burglary, and theft.

His first sexual assault conviction was when he was only 17 years old; he abused a 2-year-old child in his hometown. Since then, he has been in and out of jail multiple times for sex crimes against little girls."

There are charges that can be filed. I can't remember the case now. But I doubt they would persue a juvenile. The case I am thinking of was a man claiming to be a boy that went missing years ago. But he went so far as to dupe the family. So with this probably nothing can be done. That probably entailed fraud. Anyone that does that on any level is a sicko. And should be taught a lesson.

I am not big on the human traffic angle on alot of cases. This one I wouldn't be surprised. Where it happened. A little blond girl.

They are sick and lacking in empathy.

I think you are thinking of Timothy Pitkins (not sure I have last name exact but something like that). His mother killed herself in a hotel room (wasn't it the Wisconsin Dells area?) but the boy has never been found. She took him on a "trip" and out of school out of the blue. She was seen on video with him, then without him...
