Maui woman reported missing while traveling, family seeks help finding her

Loved ones of Ha'iku resident Hannah Kobayashi are trying tirelessly to find her after she reportedly disappeared while traveling to the mainland.

"We're just trying to not be paralyzed, in a way, not think of the worst," Kobayashi's aunt Larie Pidgeon said.

The 30-year-old was reportedly last seen at the Los Angeles International Airport nearly a week ago.

Pidgeon said Kobayashi had a layover in Los Angeles last Friday on her way to New York for a concert and a photography job, as well as to visit Pidgeon’s sister.

A friend of Kobayashi’s just so happened to be traveling on the same flights as her, Pidgeon added, and last saw her at LAX.

But then Kobayashi missed the flight to New York, which was one of the last of the night.

"That's when everything started getting fuzzy and we're starting to lose contact with her," Pidgeon explained.

A screenshot of messages Pidgeon said Kobayashi sent to the aunt in New York mentioned, "I just finished a very intense spiritual awakening."

Another text apologized for "craziness," adding afterward "was definitely intercepted."

According to Pidgeon, Kobayashi's last text was sent on the same day to her roommate, in which she mentions feeling scared, and that someone might be trying to steal her money and identity.

Since then, relatives have been having trouble getting in touch with her, and her phone appears to be unreachable.

"It (Kobayashi's phone) was pinging in the LAX airport and it no longer... it goes straight to voicemail," Pidgeon said.

"It didn't move from LAX airport so that is where we know that she last was."

The aunt has a YouTube? Or a podcast? Do you know?
I honestly don't know just to be honest and it has not been my time and don't want to go on about that, but I believe it was in something I read here, a link, could be wrong, or watched she was going to MX to make sure her niece was afe, and it said how she split from the rest of the family, announced she wanted nothing to do with the GFM. Etc. I the same article I believe, it was said she was an "influencer" and response to it was yeah of course, kind of thing. Trying to get more interest.

First time I think I ever heard of a SM influencer I think was either that Carli sham or maybe in Petito. I am getting old and pretty sure you aren't much younger but this kind of b.s. is ridiculous and I can't keep up. Here we are and she is ALIVE and it has more interest than a real case.

Anyhow, no I don't know, it was in an article I believe that she is an 'influencer".

I can't keep up but all I have to say is I'm thinking the entire thing was one big sham. With others included.

In a statement provided to PEOPLE by her aunt Larie Pidgeon, Hannah also confirmed she is back in the U.S.

"At daybreak on December 15th, I crossed the border back into the United States," the statement began.

"My focus now is on my healing, my peace and my creativity. I am deeply grateful to my family and everyone who has shown me kindness and compassion during this time," it continued.

Kobayashi says she wasn't aware of the media coverage of her after she went missing.

"I was unaware of everything that was happening in the media while I was away, and I am still processing it all. I kindly ask for respect for myself, my family, and my loved ones as I navigate through this challenging time. Thank you for your understanding," the statement concluded.
BULL.

:thud:

I don't know what to make of this.I just know that when I heard her father committed suicide.I was just so sad for him.Like he really had no idea where the hell his daughter was and he was very, very upset clearly And I feel in my opinion that he thought his daughter was dead
My thoughts were more that he felt torn in the middle when the ladies were basically lying to the public and possibly he wanted to out them and just couldn't take the pressure. The catching the bus came out by a reporter on Twitter before he died but everybody was accusing the reporter of spreading rumors. Turns out he was right.

My healing, my peace, my creativity.

Me, me, me.

Sums it up really.
Yeah I forgot to add sh*t to my BULL. Was trying to behave. Figured bull and a thud would make it clear.

I don't know if I buy her not knowing any news either but whatever. Seeming more and more like a stunt and here she is, with her dad dead.

Have some thoughts on that too, but I will leave them.

Don't anyone every introduce her and Carli, however both are probably so self centered and spoiled, they wouldn't connect with the other anyhow.

I guess she got her vacation with a whole lot of expense and hoopla and a death and now is back.

HER healing. From WHAT?

She is a 30 year old that's probably never supported herself.

These kinds of cases irritate me obviously.

IF she or the aunt or anyone ever come out trying to do something off the known names, I WILL yell about it and would hope all would.

Personally I am leaning towards planned, and by more than just her.

I have thoughts too but am not as sure. I feel like it may have been a money stunt and did he or someone need money? My other thought is he was seeing what the rest of the family was doing and knew it was not going right and bailed or felt guilty. Total speculation on my part to be clear. Things like that. I have some variations but those are my thoughts.

I will say I cannot imagine doing that and killing self if you want to find your child, that would be foremost to me as we see in almost every case. Where parents are innocent anyhow.

And I am trying really hard to not blame her for dad's death, I mean like I just said, and said previously, there is some instability there to begin with. For all we know, he helped her. Or for all we know, he felt controlled too.

This is a weird one, and I have about had my fill but they need to do something about sh*t like this.

Her creativity, etc. all she wants. Not a word about her dad. I just can't understand some people.

I hope she had a nice trip.

What a loser. She makes me thankful for my adult children, we have our bumps but they sure the heck aren't like that.

I don't expect a response but that's where I lean. OR he needed money and felt guilty. More likely he knew it was not going right though and couldn't stop the "women" from doing this. That is where I really lean. And I don't know sh*t from elsewhere.

Can't say i am one bit surprised. Now I can see why they got an attorney and want their peace and quiet.

Missing photographer Hannah Kobayashi may have been intertwined in an alleged marriage scam with an Argentinian national before her disappearance, according to a shocking report.

Kobayashi, 30, landed at Los Angeles International Aiport on Nov. 8 with her alleged new husband, Alan Cacace, an Argentinian man, and his girlfriend, Marianna, just days before she was seen crossing the border into Mexico, sources told Los Angeles Magazine Wednesday.

The outlet reported that its sources believe the aspiring photographer may have been scammed out of money after allegedly marrying the man in a green card visa scheme gone wrong.

Kobayashi’s mother, Brandi Yee, allegedly discovered immigration documents at her daughter’s home in Hawaii that showed she was working with or in contact with an immigration attorney.

Yee allegedly tried to contact the lawyer, but “that attorney was not cooperative,” one source told the outlet.

The source shared that Yee allegedly gave the documents to the FBI and LAPD for investigation.

The family’s attorney, Sara Azari, said in a statement Wednesday that the concerned mother turned over “the alleged information to law enforcement immediately upon receipt.”

“We want to stress that the family has not publicly announced any information regarding an alleged marriage because we did not have the facts or the necessary documents to verify the legitimacy of this information,” Azari wrote on X.

“The family has not confirmed the authenticity of the images or the accuracy of the information provided about a possible secret marriage.”

Azari asked that the public “avoid jumping to conclusions or spreading unverified claims.”

“It is especially important not to perpetuate speculation that anyone is involved in a scam, as this only hinders our efforts to find Hannah and bring clarity and closure to the nightmare we are living because of her disappearance,” Azari added.

In a second message, Kobayashi told the friend that she was supposedly hoodwinked “for someone I thought I loved.”

News of the alleged marriage scam came days after surveillance footage showed Kobayashi buying a ticket to the border and crossing into Mexico on foot.

The 30-year-old brunette beauty from Maui was reported missing by her family on Nov. 11 after she missed a connecting flight at LAX a few days earlier and then went dark.

Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said investigators reviewed surveillance footage and interviewed multiple witnesses, who confirmed Kobayashi’s movements from when she landed in the Golden State on Nov. 8 to when she was last seen crossing into Mexico through the border crossing tunnel in Baja California on Nov. 12.

The Los Angeles police declared the 30-year-old a “voluntary missing person” and said she willfully crossed into Mexico to “step away from modern connectivity.”

“We’ve basically done everything we can do at this point,” McDonnell said. “She’s left the country and in another nation now.”

McDonnell revealed that his department’s investigation found no evidence that Kobayashi was being trafficked or involved in any criminal activity.

The Los Angeles police chief said the LAPD’s investigation would not continue into Mexico but urged the public to come forward with any credible information on her whereabouts.

I believe it was a paid marriage. The "photography" work was to take "honeymoon" pics of another couple getting "married" in NY. There are other articles that give more info as well. So the whole thing was a money making scam. I don't necessarily think the relatives knew about it, except for her mother maybe, who found documents in the house. I think the father found out and is probable the reason for the suicide. The video posted above partly explains it at the end. Just a big scam.

Here's another article with names and more detail. It's in loads of articles now.

This one is rich - it blames online sleuths for her father's suicide.

I wonder if she "married" someone again or came back with drugs or contraband. Remembering Alex and his fishy trips to Mexico.
I see i was right about the "marrying" someone again. Now i am thinking drugs too.

I mean from Hawaii to NY via LA is a long trip and was it a return ticket or what? Now we find that she just didn't use the LA to NY section and was travelling with 3 other people, including an ex and a possible new husband? Then she just takes off and tells nobody and wastes police resources and worries her family so much that it causes the death of her father. Now she justs wants to be left alone while the family lawyer is blaming the public involvement - which is what the relatives wanted in the first place.
