FBI now involved in ongoing search for missing 11-year-old Colorado Springs boy

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the ongoing search for a missing/endangered 11-year-old Colorado Springs boy who went missing Monday afternoon, and the task force investigating his disappearance is organizing a team of volunteers to start searching for him.

Gannon Stauch was believed to be a runaway after he left his home southeast of Colorado Springs between 3:15 and 4 p.m. on Monday. But as the week progressed, his disappearance was upgraded to a missing/endangered person case.

His stepmother said he left his home on foot to play at a friend’s house down the street on Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies and major crimes detectives had taken “extraordinary steps” to locate the boy, the sheriff’s office said. They were actively searching for evidence and taking witness statements, a sheriff’s office news release issued earlier this week read.

“He’s very young, it’s dark and cold outside and we want to bring Gannon to safety,” the sheriff’s said in a Facebook post earlier this week.

On Thursday afternoon, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and other task force members, as well as Stauch’s parents, hosted a news conference to update the community on his disappearance, discuss the steps being taken in the investigation, and to notify people in the area that they are organizing volunteers to begin a community search effort in coming days.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mitch Mahalko said the sheriff’s office received the investigation on Tuesday afternoon and started doing interviews and collecting video surveillance and talking to neighbors, working to collect new leads.

He said that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and FBI got involved after the case was upgraded to a missing/endangered child case. The FBI’s team specializes in search and rescue and “will be a good partner” in the investigation, Mahalko said.

He said the investigation was active and that authorities were conducting interviews with witnesses and collecting evidence – exhausting every lead they receive.

Mahalko said investigators were looking at “persons of interest” in the case as people who might be able to give them additional information on Stauch’s whereabouts.

He declined to say where authorities had been searching but confirmed that investigators had been in contact with some trash companies in El Paso County and in the Lorson Ranch area.

Kirby stressed that people with tips should report them to their tip line – 719-520-6666 – and not on social media because any tips sent to the sheriff’s office on social media will not be considered.

Just finished reading the entire thread to get caught up! Lordy! So...
Leticia is a complete and total narcissist - definition of the word
If her mouth is moving - she is lying
Was there anything said about toxicology or was that even possible? Suspicious about Gannon's illness that day, the way the neighbor said he approached the truck.
I hope the prosecution is keeping up with everything this chick has written or said since the minute she reported him missing and throws it all back in her smug face!
Just remember one thing, you can't believe one word out of this woman's mouth, even "the".

its weird because she lies such big lies that are so easily disproved. Such as her lie to the principal as to why she would be missing work- she told him her dad (or stepdad? ) was killed in a car accident, rather than just say that Gannon was ill. The lie is so over-the-top and so easily proved a lie.

She also claimed a wreck was the reason she meandered on the road to Palmer Lake. There was no wreck, that was easily proved wrong as well. She is incredibly stupid (yet confident, lol) that way so it fascinates me. I'm sure this is all just a taste of what is yet to come from her.

Also weird is the candle incident where she freaked out about how to pay for it and her first option is to sell the couch? Like in what world is a couch your first choice to sell?

She is a certifiable nutcase ( but not in a way that will get her proclaimed innocent of the evil she has done).

If she's so stupid then how'd she get a doctorate. :nope:

Casey Anthony has the same thing. I don't know why they think chronic lying is going to get them somewhere, but I guess it does for a long time.

Attorneys for woman accused of killing her stepson, Gannon Stauch, request more time for 2nd competency evaluation

Attorneys representing a Colorado woman accused of killing her own stepson are requesting more time before a court hearing, citing issues with a COVID-19 outbreak at the El Paso County Jail.

Stauch is scheduled for a court hearing next week as she awaits a second mental competency evaluation. In September, state doctors found her competent to stand trial.

The motion filed on Oct. 30 asks the judge in the case to move the hearing to a date after Dec. 14, claiming it will allow Stauch to get a second competency hearing. The motion adds there have been issues with having a doctor visit Stauch in-person because of the recent COVID-19 outbreak at the jail. The judge has yet to make a decision on the request.

On Friday, 11 News learned the second evaluation is scheduled to start on Tuesday with expected completion by Jan. 2. Another hearing slated for Jan. 19. The second evaluation will be done by Dr. Jackie Grimmett of Colorado Springs. State psychiatrists found her competent in the first evaluation.

The pictures are so sickening.

Paralegal pleads guilty in Gannon Stauch murder case to leaking document

An Adams County paralegal accused of leaking a sealed court document divulging details of the investigation into the killing of 11-year-old Gannon Stauch has pleaded guilty.

Sherie Farstveet, 54, pleaded guilty Dec. 10 in Adams County Court to a single count of attempted official misconduct, court records show. Authorities alleged she abused her access to state court filings in early April to gain access to an arrest affidavit for Gannon’s stepmother, Letecia Stauch, who is charged with first-degree murder in his slaying. The document was given to an online news outlet, which published it while it remained under seal.

Adams County Judge Michael Andrew Cox ordered Farstveet to pay a $100 fine plus $199.50 in court costs and fees, records show.

Prosecutors dropped the original charge against her, first-degree official misconduct, in exchange for her guilty plea to the lesser count. The deal averted a trial scheduled for the same day. She had faced up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000 if convicted of the original charge.

At the time of the leak, Farstveet was a paralegal in the Brighton City Attorney’s Office. She was placed on administrative leave as a result of the allegations. A city spokeswoman couldn’t immediately be reached for an update about Farstveet’s employment status.

Wow. This isn't good in court cases because 20 years from now it could overturn a conviction.

If I'm not mistaken, a little place called JT came under fire in this one... Someone had to apologize to the family and more and put it on one of her fave members, put it down to his being overzealous... I am not sure if they were first or two seconds later...

It may explain why the Morphew case is so buttoned up with NO leaks. I wonder sometimes if they are working on it or taking way more care to not have this happen... There were things in the Berreth/Frazee case too that appeared to be leaked from the courthouse or some attorney's office/employee or cop with access, etc...

At least this happened and was discovered before trial. That way it can be addressed and the chances of it affecting the trial / causing a mistrial or overturned conviction are less.
That's a really good point.

Colorado seals so many things too. It is talked about and somewhat controversial. If you watch Scott Reusch/Crime Talk, defense attorney Colorado (practicing, not retired), he remarks on it on occasion. The public does not trust when things are sealed and I agree that short of something with very good reason to do that, they should not be sealing court documents. I guess my point is that what was leaked would have likely been public record to begin with in some of our states and hopefully that will make it not a big deal if tried to be used during trial or on appeal... If that makes any sense...

Everyone can make their own decision on this. It is NOT dull I promise you. It is a recent podcast but some of the comments make it sound as if this was maybe out earlier and was just now put out again--or at least some of the details had been heard elsewhere... I know I have never seen it prior. I give it about a 70/30. I think much is fact and some is just her opinion/speculation based on what she saw or knows, so opinion/speculation based on her knowledge though... The reason I can believe some of it as fact is that it just fits instinctual feelings I had (and probably many others) as this case unfolded in the early days... I am not hook, line and sinker for all of it and a few things I find a bit overly judgmental over what I think of as little things but for the most part, I can believe quite a bit of it... It is lengthy, I am not entirely through it but getting close and have been listening in stages but again, very interesting... Imo.

Regardless, it is just opinion and one person saying this so take it for what it's worth and make your own decision... I guess we shall see is my feeling on it...

Wow, that is really food for thought...
For me it is not a big stretch to think that Al was aware of the abuse, but IMO it was not him who killed him.
I wish they would'nt try to divert attention from the real perp, which still is Leticia IMO.
But Gannon and L sure had to endure a dysfunctional family setting.
ETA and Harley of course , but I am still not sure about her role in all of this.🤨 Jmo

It is interesting isn't it? I mean clearly a LOT of what she says is her opinion when asked what she thought happened and things like that, then she does what we all do, has an opinion based on what she knows, etc. and I even found her a bit judgmental at times, but I do not have a lot of trouble believing what she claims as fact and things she knew of or her child was aware of. It sadly is not so hard for me to believe that Al knew of some things and/or maybe was not so nice himself.

I have avoided trashing him because as you say, I do not believe he is the perp but from early on, I doubted he was a saint and despite the fact that I want to believe nothing Tee says, I could believe he was cheating on her, not that that excuses what she did! I have seen in so many cases people attack a mother who should have known abuse was going on and/or who they left their children with a significant other/stepparent/bf or gf. It was pretty clear the difference in him and Landon in reaction to everything as well. I have left him alone as far as comments and figured he probably guilted himself worse than anyone could anyhow... For not seeing what was going on or whatever the case may be... I gave the benefit of the doubt...

But then a few months ago I heard he had another child with someone else not long after and according to this video, he took the woman to Gannon's service and yes, had been seeing her. I think back to how the timeline and his apparent day he came home seeming kind of muddy, etc. As for taking the other woman to Gannon's service, I mean why? Really? Not then, not at that time, WHAT was he thinking? Of course that is if it is true and it certainly sounds like it is.

I agree with not taking attention off Leticia--I do not think Al is the perp. I would hope though that Al would not repeat something and put his children (now child) with another unknown new person in her life... Which he has done...

Like you, I also try to be fair and stay away from Harley. However, I do have an opinion not fully cemented but keeping the thoughts open and trying to be fair there...

So him having another child with his new girlfriend soon after is a fact!? Good Lord, what a mess😐
