Bond was reduced 9/2. LMAOOOOO.
It's still 3 milion but it was cash only. He can now TRY to get somebody to lose at least 300k IF he can find a willing victim and a bondsman that is willing. The bonding company will have to show at least 3 million in assets and they will have to be confident that he will show up and not take off. Evidently no takers on either issue :teehee:

So he is still in custody? That means he has no money left imo and the property in AZ is not owned outright or worth enough. Are all the assets put with Mallory gone too?

Loser. Not surprised a bit that he likely blew through it.

DENVER (KDVR) — Supporters of Barry Morphew, who was indicted by a grand jury in June for the first-degree murder of his wife, Suzanne Morphew, helped him post bond of $3 million.

Barry was taken into custody in Arizona in June after he was indicted by a grand jury following new information on his late wife, Suzanne, whose remains were found in Saguache County in September 2023.

The autopsy also showed that 49-year-old Suzanne had a deer tranquilizer known as BAM, a combination of butorphanol, azaperone and medetomidine, in her system before she died. According to Barry’s arrest affidavit, prescription records show that he was the only resident in the area of the state who had access to the tranquilizer.

Barry was indicted after those findings, and a bond was set at $3 million in June. In September, FOX31 confirmed that supporters of Barry were able to raise enough money for him to post bond, according to Barry’s lawyer, David Beller.

While Barry has reportedly made bond, it will take some time before he’s out. Beller told FOX31 that “the process will take some time,” and he is still in custody.

This has been an ongoing case ever since Suzanne was reported missing in 2020 after she went for a bike ride and never returned home. Barry first faced a first-degree murder charge, along with tampering with evidence and attempting to influence the public after Suzanne’s disappearance in 2021, but he was released from jail on bond, and the murder charge was dismissed in 2022.

Once Suzanne’s remains were found in 2023, her death was ruled a homicide in 2024. Barry was indicted in June, but only spent about three months in custody before making bond

So people are going to lose at least 300k just so this dude can be out of jail. The bondsman better keep a close eye on him when he gets out or they are out 3 million.

Barry Morphew posts $3 million bond ahead of murder trial

ALAMOSA COUNTY, Colo. — Barry Morphew, the man accused of killing his wife Suzanne Morphew, is in the process of posting bond.

Morphew is currently in the Alamosa County Jail waiting to be fitted with a GPS monitor, according to his attorney, David Beller.
On Thursday, supporters posted a $3 million bond for Morphew, Beller said. All of the money for the bond came from supporters, according to Beller.

Morphew was living in Arizona when he was arrested earlier this year for Suzanne's death. Suzanne had disappeared from their Chaffee County home in May 2020, sparking a massive search.

Morphew was previously arrested in May 2021 and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Suzanne's disappearance, even though she remained missing. Days before he was set to stand trial in April 2022, all charges were dropped when Fremont County District Judge Ramsey Lama granted a motion filed by prosecutors that asked to dismiss the case without prejudice.

That allowed charges to be filed again if new evidence came to light, and on June 20, the 12th Judicial District announced that a grand jury had indicted Morphew on a first-degree murder charge

Does he have a state appointed atty now or a private paid? Not sure if it was ever said. I know he is no longer with his "girlfriend" Iris.

The last time he had a monitor it didn't work and also there was something about his having to go in to get it charged or some such after that. He also had his gf at the time go take a package from his old home which had new owners and she was charged although i think that ended up dismissed or some such.

i believe the judge did give a rule that he surrender his passport. That's one good thing...

His attys makes a point of saying all of the money is from supporters. I'd say his mom for one. Family can be supporters lol.

Barry Morphew, in jail on murder charges in the death of his wife, is in the process of posting bond, his attorney confirmed.

But he remains in an Alamosa County jail as he waits to be fitted for a GPS ankle monitor and to finalize details with a local bondsman.

His attorney, David Beller, confirmed late Thursday night that “funds for the bond were paid by friends and supporters,” and added that there are no guarantees that Morphew would be released from jail by the weekend.

Earlier this month, District Court Judge Amanda Hopkins denied a request by Morphew to reduce bond to $500,000, though she did change the requirement from a cash bond to a $3 million surety bond, which meant he could await trial at home if a bail bond company was willing to guarantee the money or someone is willing to put that value of property on the line.

Usually 10-15% of a surety bond is required, and is non-refundable.

Morphew is liquidating all of his assets in order to pay his legal bills, according to Beller, and will be preparing for trial while confined to a Colorado residence. Under stipulations from the court, he will only be allowed outside for legal and medical appointments.

An Alamosa County Sheriff’s deputy confirmed Wednesday night that Morphew was still at the Alamosa County Detention Center as he prepares for his release.

The fact that Morphew made bail was first reported by the Alamosa Citizen.

Morphew has been in custody since June after he was indicted by a 12th Judicial District grand jury. He was arrested in connection with the murder of his wife, Suzanne Morphew, June 20 in Gilbert, Arizona during a traffic stop by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

For months, he had been living in Arizona under the name Lee Moore.

Suzanne Morphew, 49, disappeared from the couple’s Chaffee County home in May 2020, sparking a massive search. Despite never finding a body, Morphew, 56, was arrested on suspicion of murder in 2021 but the case was dropped after alleged prosecutorial misconduct.

Prosecutors allege he and Suzanne Morphew were in a combative relationship and that his phone was turned off for a long period the day she vanished.

In subsequent interviews, he and his daughters professed his innocence. But in 2023 human remains were found in rural Saguache County in the San Luis Valley that were identified as those of Suzanne Morphew. According to the grand jury indictment, the bones tested positive for a wildlife tranquilizer for which Morphew had access, and that he is the only person in Colorado with access to it.

The next hearing in the case is set for Nov. 3. As for when the case could go to trial, attorneys said it would be next summer at the earliest

So he isn't getting a public defender??? Or is this just more smoke and mirrors? And what assets?

Morphew is liquidating all of his assets in order to pay his legal bills

I imagine he has to have no assets to get a public defender, or close to none. He owns that campground in AZ allegedly but who knows if it has a mortgage or not. He receives rent from there as well. He also probably has business assets but maybe they don't count...?

I would think he will liquidate, pay his lawyer and when it runs out, his lawyer will be gone and he will have a public defender. Unless the lawyer is willing to go without pay. Hard to say, depends what he has for assets, etc. and how quick it goes to trial as to what the lawyer will cost.

Barry Morphew is expected to be released from the Alamosa County jail soon while he awaits trial for the murder of his wife, Suzanne, after raising enough money to hire a bondsman to post his $3 million bond.
His attorney, David Beller, said that supporters of Morphew pulled together the bond fee, about 10 percent of the $3 million bond set by the court. Beller declined to identify the supporters.
“They have asked to remain anonymous,” said Beller. “And that frankly is for their own safety, with all the vitriol that the case has brought and all the doxing.”
Beller said there have been threats and bullying of Morphew’s family, including his two daughters, who have steadfastly stood by his side since Suzanne first went missing on Mother’s Day 2020.
The case, involving a well-to-do family living in a beautiful Colorado mountain town, has garnered intense national media interest from traditional news outlets and podcasters.
Earlier this month, Morphew’s attorneys asked the court to modify his $3 million cash-only bond to a $500,000 cash-only bond. That request was denied, but Judge Amanda Hopkins changed the bond to allow Morphew to use a surety, a bail bonds company, that can post the bond for a fee. That fee is not refundable at the end of the trial.
The court said it was moved to modify the bond in part because of the support of his daughters.
Posting a $3 million bond in a first-degree murder case is unusual, but not unheard of. The Alamosa Citizen was first to report that Morphew had secured a bond.
Morphew is expected to be released on Friday or Saturday, once he is fitted with a GPS monitor and finds a place in Colorado to live. He’ll be confined to his home, but can attend legal and medical appointments. And, if he can find employment, Morphew would be allowed to leave the home for work, after getting permission from the court.
Beller said that Morphew “remains hopeful, very hopeful. He is discouraged by his inability to be able to publicly address the allegation against him. He’s concerned about the welfare of his family, specifically his girls.”
Once Morphew is released from jail, will begin paying for his own defense, said Beller. To this point, Morphew’s attorneys have been paid by the state, because a defendant is deemed indigent if they are in custody, Beller said.
“In Mr. Morphew’s case, between what little bit of assets he has as well as some supporters, he is going to be paying for his defense moving forward for as long as he and they are able to do so,” said Beller.
Morphew was originally arrested for the murder of Suzanne in 2021, but her body had not yet been found and the prosecution struggled to meet deadlines for producing evidence to his defense attorneys. The charges were eventually dropped before trial began, allowing for them to be refiled if new evidence emerged.
Suzanne’s body was then found in 2023 in Alamosa County, about an hour south of the Morphews’ home. An autopsy in 2024 found the presence of a unique mixture of animal tranquilizer chemicals that Barry Morphew was known to possess, according to the new charges filed in the case. A grand jury indicted Morphew on murder charges this year, and he was arrested in Arizona, living under the alias Lee Moore.

As if! He couldn't even bail himself out so how is HE going to be paying the attorney? I call bs on this one. He's either got funds stashed, gathered more in funding for his bail than we realize or he's got a sucker for an attorney. Any or all of those could be.

Since part of his ability to leave his residence (once he establishes one, that is) is to see his attorney, I bet he finds a lot of reasons to visit them and I sure hope they charge him billable hours by the minute, every minute he's in there. :teehee:

Well, he can't do what KC did to get Baez's council.

:giggling:

Supporters? Most likely mainly family and maybe a friend or two if he has such. Took a bit of time to scrape up $300K also.

This is twice now he is out on bail. We almost never see murder defendants free on bail. I don't like it one bit.
There are stupid women out there drawn to creeps like him. Ones who I remember writing to serial killers. Even marrying them while in prison. I'm sure he has plenty of admirers.
