GANNON STAUCH: Colorado vs. Letecia Stauch for child abuse and murder of stepson *GUILTY* (2 Viewers)

FBI now involved in ongoing search for missing 11-year-old Colorado Springs boy

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the ongoing search for a missing/endangered 11-year-old Colorado Springs boy who went missing Monday afternoon, and the task force investigating his disappearance is organizing a team of volunteers to start searching for him.

Gannon Stauch was believed to be a runaway after he left his home southeast of Colorado Springs between 3:15 and 4 p.m. on Monday. But as the week progressed, his disappearance was upgraded to a missing/endangered person case.

His stepmother said he left his home on foot to play at a friend’s house down the street on Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies and major crimes detectives had taken “extraordinary steps” to locate the boy, the sheriff’s office said. They were actively searching for evidence and taking witness statements, a sheriff’s office news release issued earlier this week read.

“He’s very young, it’s dark and cold outside and we want to bring Gannon to safety,” the sheriff’s said in a Facebook post earlier this week.

On Thursday afternoon, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and other task force members, as well as Stauch’s parents, hosted a news conference to update the community on his disappearance, discuss the steps being taken in the investigation, and to notify people in the area that they are organizing volunteers to begin a community search effort in coming days.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mitch Mahalko said the sheriff’s office received the investigation on Tuesday afternoon and started doing interviews and collecting video surveillance and talking to neighbors, working to collect new leads.

He said that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and FBI got involved after the case was upgraded to a missing/endangered child case. The FBI’s team specializes in search and rescue and “will be a good partner” in the investigation, Mahalko said.

He said the investigation was active and that authorities were conducting interviews with witnesses and collecting evidence – exhausting every lead they receive.

Mahalko said investigators were looking at “persons of interest” in the case as people who might be able to give them additional information on Stauch’s whereabouts.

He declined to say where authorities had been searching but confirmed that investigators had been in contact with some trash companies in El Paso County and in the Lorson Ranch area.

Kirby stressed that people with tips should report them to their tip line – 719-520-6666 – and not on social media because any tips sent to the sheriff’s office on social media will not be considered.

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — Following roughly a month of testimony, prosecutors rested their case Tuesday against Letecia Stauch, who is accused of killing her 11-year-old stepson Gannon and dumping his body under a Florida bridge more than three years ago.

<snip>
Letecia Stauch is charged separately for an escape attempt that happened while she was being brought back to Colorado from South Carolina where she was arrested.

During her trial, the jury was shown a roughly 20-minute video of the incident which happened on Interstate 70 in Kansas. According to court testimony, she slipped out of her handcuffs and hit a deputy with a full energy drink can. No one was hurt, but the deputies requested authorities in Kansas to escort them to the Colorado border.

We all know fewer are watching this one even though on live, and I sure don't have time to keep up with either, but just ran across and lucked out on a live from Linda and Linda RARELY does lives these days or very many videos even. It is on right now, just started if anyone interested, and if you see this later, you can watch the recorded version by clicking link.

I think it would have been better for the defense to not call any witnesses, Dr Lewis is a trainwreck. How can she defend a child killer? And by saying more or less that it's the ex husbands's fault!? Tecia is toast.
The only thing I saw on this was most of Linda's live. Actually I don't know how long it went but she was chatting at end with questions and answers etc. and I had to break away and shower and do other things for work today, etc. and then I got tired and shut off. Her main part though before answering questions was about this "doctor's" testimony and I'm still not clear on it all other than yeah, she was a train wreck and it sounds like answers were long drawn out not yes or no or professional type answers on the stand. She was cautioned not to be late I think?

She blamed Al you mean? I'm not clear on all. Linda claimed something like after T putting her head down much of the time lately for other witnesses, etc. she perked right up when her doctor was up and paid attention as if "oh now all will see I'm innocent and was insane because MY doctor is up" (my words).

Also if I have it right, didn't sound like this doctor was the qualified kind of doctor one would generally have for such a thing. And she didn't meet with or look at records etc. of all she should have or history and so on. This imo isn't uncommon in defense strategy. They give them only what they want seen or they won't get the finding they want and then they hope it flies I guess...?

I know before trial her report was late and not in and it became an issue prior to trial. Judge said if not provided, wouldn't be allowed, etc.

Well it sounds like (?) it finally got "typed" up and submitted but there are questions (Linda) whether the defense attorney or his office may have typed her report? OH BOY. Okayyy not saying it may not have been done accurately but what a questionable thing and what an opportunity to take out or put in what helps or hurts for your "win" or your client...

Her entire team is weird. The second attorney might be normal and serious (not sure) but Rocking Boy and this doctor uhm seem not the best or even average in their profession (and that's putting it VERY NICELY)...

After her stint of insisting she represent herself and ending up back with a team of new attorneys, I wondered why she hadn't raised heck over them or was okay with someone FINALLY... Well she would only be okay with someone who entertained her stories and what she wanted done... That would be the same with any doctor... Imo. Or they had to go to the depths and ends of he77 to fidn one that wouldn't say she was sane?

It isn't like Linda covered all like some do in a nightly summary, she was more hitting the things that were like huh and that's the only thing I've seen on this. So can you tell me, did this doctor do nothing other than meet with T and all her conclusion is based on what came from T and nothing else? It's what it sounds like to me...

I gather T brought out her personalities for her???

Again, I could be way off, best I could discern from Linda who was more pinpointing certain things probably trusting that most had seen the testimony or read some other summary but little out there on it really. I can watch Nate every night about the Vallow case but in this one I find little.

I guess child killers are not very popular in jail. How could she think she had a chance to get away with this AND keep Al ?! She ruined her own life and many others by taking Gannon's. But not insane. Mr. Clark told the jury yesterday how, on the day after murdering Gannon, she drove her Tiguan with Gannon 's body in the suitcase to the airport's parking lot, from there to the s curve in Douglas county, from there to Florida. To pull that off under the eyes of so many agencies needs a sound mind.
Very true. This trial imo is one of the biggest wastes there has ever been based on the evidence. What I mean is every defendant yes has a right to a defense but she doesn't HAVE ONE. There isn't a defense with the facts here. She tried every story because the FACTS ARE THERE. They are now trying insanity because there is nothing else and the FACTS ARE THERE. Insanity is failing because the fact she isn't insane is showing because the FACTS ARE THERE that she isn't, that she is devious, manipulative, dishonest to the extreme, self centered to beyond and more I don't even have the words or patience for when it comes to even thinking about her any longer, it is time it ends. SO sickening.

So all it does is cost a ton of money and time and resources but that's T. As to her defense I'm sure they'll be paid and are getting paid but I wouldn't hire them. Especially the one. Again just putting on a show and not even a real show, just why not milk it out and put the VICTIMS through it, the judge, the people who want justice, etc.

Again does she have a right to a defense? Yes. But is there one or any facts to support one? NO.

They have her dead to rights. This is a case where the facts are overwhelming as to her guilt. She so thinks/thought she is one smart cookie. She isn't. She was dumb to the extreme and it continues. Best she will be able to hope for is that she gets an occasional cookie from the commissary or whatever you call it in prison and eats it while she ruminates on why no one else in the world recognizes how special she is and what a smart cookie she is... And while the rest of us and Gannon's family FORGET about her and take a breath...

I can't tell you anything, I lost all patience with Dr Lewis, one answer is half an our long and doesn't even answer the question sometimes. At least it means that the jury sees this too and will come to their own conclusions. Well, this is not really an advertisement for Tolini's law firm, geez:shakinghead:

She gets a bit feisty on occasion but yes, she has NO solid answers and just goes on and on.

I've watched every trial day for almost 7 weeks (excluding juror interviews) and have taken notes ... LOTS of notes. Too much to sum up in one post however the trial has reminded me why we should be thankful to have the rights afforded us by the U.S. Constitution. Judge Werner has gone to great lengths to ensure Letecia received a fair and impartial trial to a jury of her peers.

Here is what the charges are; there were 4 however the Prosecution dismissed CHILD ABUSE RESULTING IN DEATH
CHARGES: 4
COUNT 1: MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE x2
COUNT 2: TAMPERING WITH A DECEASED HUMAN BODY
COUNT 3: TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE

After too many hours of listening to phone calls and video recordings, Letecia (via an 'alter') admitted to killing Gannon by hitting him with a board and shooting him. Nothing has been proven by testimony regarding the stab wounds. Essentially, she pleaded NOT GUILTY by reason of INSANITY. According to Colorado criminal rule 18-3-102 sentencing, if found guilty, life in prison. If found guilty by reason of insanity she would end up at Colorado State Mental Hospital in Pueblo until she is deemed mentally fit for society. Lastly, she could be found not guilty.

IMOO, this trial is all about Letecia. Two psychologists with the Colorado State Mental Hospital diagnosed her with Borderline Personality Disorder with strong narcissistic tendencies. I don't forsee the jury buying into the spectacle that has been made by the defendant.

The defense is expected to rest their case Friday morning and we will then move to closing arguments and jury instructions. Judge Werner has advised that he will not impose a time limit for either counsel during this phase. I do not expect the jury to take a long time to deliberate however we aren't on the jury and can't predict. At this point I am 100% convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty and should be sentenced to life.

Two journalists are in court and are tweeting accurately; https://twitter.com/ZachNDupont & https://twitter.com/AshleyPorteeyo. If you can't watch the trial, follow either one of these for a good recap.

Thank you!

I think this Dr. Lewis is up in her 80's, which begs the question, why is she not enjoying retirement? I didn't watch it but from what I hear and read in other places, she did not come across as very credible.

I agree that T should be given LWOP, at the least. She didn't just kill the boy, she tortured him. I don't know how his parents managed to sit through that trial, and my heart breaks every time I see them or hear the pain in their voice.

As for her insanity plea.... didn't work. And the little shows she put on with the gestures and such.... pitiful.

She's 85 and during her intro to the jury she stated she's semi-retired and has treated a patient as recently as 2022.

Dr. Ignacio performed the autopsy on Gannon and testified approximately 3 weeks ago. The live webinar showed the photo's without warning & I watched Landon run out of the courtroom crying. Law & Crime cut their feed after this testimony and went live after a new link was established out of respect.

Gannon's family has been in the courtroom everyday. I wouldn't presume to understand how their mental health is processing this. All I can hope for is a quick guilty verdict. Of course I will be watching live tomorrow and will post any news as soon as it comes in.

💙

Day 20 ... positive thoughts today for Gannon and for justice to be served.

YES, thinking positively in this one. I have very little doubt that Letecia is going away for life. I also have very little worry about LEGITIMATE appeal concerns in this one, not that it won't be tried afterwards, all try it of course.

It would take a very wild or corrupt or ignorant juror to change what should be an obvious conclusion imo.

The evidence is off the charts. Her sanity through many days of plotting, planning, hiding, etc. is clear.

My heart breaks hearing that of Landon. Major slip up there it sounds like where such shouldn't have been shown and the family certainly should have been warned. They will always know of and have details they wish they could unknow and unsee thanks to this MONSTER.

Justice will help but it won't undo any of it. :(

Well I certainly haven't got to watch much but should get to hear some of the closing arguments today. If they go as long as it sounds like they could, verdict could be Monday but if enough time, I predict today depending on time left in the day...

I know they are important but it is a bummer to me as I only have so much time to catch part today and I'd like to hear closing arguments and thought they would come first. Darn it, can't win lately.
