Indiana police trying to identify little boy found in suitcase last month: ‘How can nobody know that he’s missing?’

A little boy whose remains were found in a suitcase left in a heavily wooded area of southern Indiana last month has yet to be identified.

Indiana State Police in Sellersburg continue to need help identifying the child, who they estimate to have been between 5 and 8 years old at the time he died, which would have been within the week leading up to the tragic discovery, Indiana State Police Sgt. Carey Huls told CNN affiliate Wave3.

“For some reason, nobody’s noticing that he’s missing. Well why would that be? It could be somebody who’s not from this country,” Huls told the outlet. “We’re not precluding anything like that. ... So we have to ask ourselves, how can a young boy go missing and nobody know that he’s missing? ... It’s very troubling.”
Do they mean not from this "country" or not from this "county" I wonder. It says country.

It is frustrating that they go on about no one noticing he is missing but then giving people nothing to go on. Say a neighbor or grandparent in another state might recognize something but they don't know the child is missing or have any reason to think so but a certain shirt or item might trigger something. Also, it is not like this is front page or headline news throughout the country on a daily basis or anything.

Still no answers nearly 6 weeks after 5-year-old boy found dead in suitcase in southern Indiana

It's been nearly six weeks of frustration for Indiana State Police detectives.

Despite thousands of tips from people all over the country weighing in on the case of the five-year-old boy found in a suitcase, they still have more questions than answers.

"If it's a child listed on a missing children's list anywhere in America, that's been looked into," Sgt. Carey Huls said. "They're not finding any matches there."

It's an update Huls said he wishes he wasn't giving this late into the investigation. He said he hoped to have more information by now.

Huls said irritation is starting to settle in for his team working on the case.

The boy's autopsy results also weren't helpful in determining a cause of death.

The toxicology results aren't back yet, and there's no indication of when they will be.

"Somebody out there has first-hand knowledge," Huls said. "Not something they have looked up on the internet. We mean first-hand knowledge. Everyone wants answers. Everyone wants to bring justice and a voice to this little guy."

In an effort to help identify the boy, Indiana State Police set up a national tip line that is active. The number people can call is 1-888-437-6432.

He may sadly be a child that never got any medical care, Or sent to school. But doesn't anyone miss seeing this child?. I never understand that. They existed, They have a name.
a lot of times we find out that the people that were responsible told others that child services or parent had taken the missing child. It's not that people didn't question it, it's that they believed the lie they were told about why the child was no longer with that person.

It is horrid seeing no one looking for him or any person. Someone thinks he is with someone else is my guess (other parents, grandparent, etc.) OR it is a foster, etc. situation.

Autopsy and pathology came in on 05/20. Final diagnosis as "electrolyte" imbalance likely secondary due to a viral gastroenteritis (vomiting and diarrhea resulting in dehydration). Toxicology negative with nothing in the results and nothing anatomically wrong with the child, no significant injuries, normal growth and development of child.

They get a lot of calls on suitcase. They want firsthand knowledge of seeing THIS suitcase in case or THIS child. They don't need calls of who sells it, manufactures, etc., that has all been looked into. 46" tall, about 40 pounds, slim build, believe him to be about 5 years of age.
