I sincerely hope they are looking at boys currently in foster care, by doing personal home visits and actually seeing and speaking to each African-American boy in the age range that is in foster care, to rule them out as the victim. Hopefully they are looking at kids in KY as well.

Years ago, maybe 5 -10 years, TJMaxx , Marshall's, and Ross sold new similar suitcases. IIRC, there were several different designs: Las Vegas, Paris, London, Chicago , and one of the cities in Germany , either Bonn or Stuttgart. I think they were priced around $60-100, depending on the size, with the largest suitcases being the most expensive.
This particular suitcase could have been purchased at one of those stores or at a thrift store.

I'm not a regular of such stores but just you saying that makes me feel as if the time I've been in one that yes, it fits with their type of things...

ETA: I have been in them off and on through the years, we don't have one but other areas do and it fits with the type of thing I would have seen a few or more years back.... Maybe it is what nags at me about the suitcase... Something does every time I see it LIKE I have seen it before...

Adoption, fostering, disability, etc. I get that totally. This child seems to not be a typical fit for this area and if he was known in the area, one would think there would have been an answer pretty quickly.... Connections....? I mean between the boys maybe and the perp... AND no one seems to be missing this boy from what we know so far... Which takes me back to someone that maybe has done this before and adoption, etc.... When I FIRST heard this one, I thought of the West boys too until realizing or hearing this poor child was killed recently... It would seem he was likely dumped out of his area or someone would know of him? Or not...?

How would that jeopardize the case???? You have NO case if you can't identify him!

The only thing i can think of to make that make any sense is that they know a LOT more than they are letting on and even then it seems to me like that info could only help them.

One thought I have is that someone wants to throw off the trail meaning the Vegas suitcase is a plant (meant to get people stuck on the Vegas thing) and maybe the child is dressed in something to lead tipsters in the wrong direction, wrong state, wrong place. This is the case they have resisted giving clothing info in isn't it? Probably a silly thought and I can't think of what type of clothes or condition would send things in the wrong direction, but I have just thought it odd from the start they wouldn't give as much as they could to identify him, especially clothing.

More likely or along with that, they have a suspect (or two if parents) but cannot prove it at this point. Holding back clothing and other description, someone may slip in what they say the child was last wearing when they saw him, how he looked, etc. The same with maybe what injury he suffered or did he have an obvious medical condition or injury, etc.

He is deceased so finding the perp is not going to save him so there is no interest of time here other than if the case goes cold and releasing the information could have solved it but IF they have a good reason and a pretty solid suspect then I can understand it but we have no way of knowing. I too think they should release all but if withholding it leads to an arrest and evidence, I guess I'm for it. I just can't imagine in any missing child's case/unidentified they wouldn't release all to identify especially since this was not an old kill.

Now if they had a suspect, one would think they would be attempting a DNA match but if not, that would lead me to think of a foster/adoption situation.

I really have no earthly idea either. Just trying to catch up some here and just thoughts.
 
Kind of an odd statement, I can see it relating to cause of death but how could it relate to learning more about him/who he is?

ISP hopes to learn more about the child and his cause of death from toxicology reports.

I don't think this boy was from the area or anywhere close. They wouldn't chance it in such a small area if they were close. Everyone would know this boy most likely.

That's true but I do have to wonder why so averse to giving details of appearance and clothing unless someone would recognize him and they don't want people to... A bit odd...

A little boy whose remains were found in a suitcase left in a heavily wooded area of southern Indiana last month has yet to be identified.

Indiana State Police in Sellersburg continue to need help identifying the child, who they estimate to have been between 5 and 8 years old at the time he died, which would have been within the week leading up to the tragic discovery, Indiana State Police Sgt. Carey Huls told CNN affiliate Wave3.

“For some reason, nobody’s noticing that he’s missing. Well why would that be? It could be somebody who’s not from this country,” Huls told the outlet. “We’re not precluding anything like that. ... So we have to ask ourselves, how can a young boy go missing and nobody know that he’s missing? ... It’s very troubling.”
