ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

An award-winning Penn State professor who has been arrested in a sickening bestiality case involving his pet collie begged rangers to shoot him, telling them “I need to die” — as it was claimed that he’s been performing lewd acts in a state forest for nearly a decade, according to court documents.

Themis Matsoukas, 64, became “nervous” and then began to “panic” when officials from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) showed up on his doorstep earlier this month to search his home, after he was allegedly caught on a trail camera performing sexual acts with his dog.

“I’m done, I’m dead, you don’t understand, I do it to blow off steam,” Matsoukas, a well-regarded chemistry engineering professor, was quoted as telling the rangers, according to an affidavit cited by the news outlet WTAJ.

He then reportedly “begged” the DCNR officials executing the search to kill him.

“What do I have to do to get you to shoot me? I need to die,” Matsoukas pleaded.

Matsoukas was arraigned Tuesday on charges of open lewdness, indecent exposure, sexual intercourse with an animal and animal cruelty.

The professor’s dramatic fall from grace came nearly two months after a trail camera installed by the DCNR at Rothrock State Forest in Pennsylvania allegedly captured Matsoukas on the night of April 13 walking naked from the waist down with his pet collie.

<snip>

DCNR investigators later obtained six images from other trail cameras in the area dating back to 2014 showing what appeared to be the same man wandering through the woods in the buff.

The school told the Center Daily Times this week that the professor “has been relieved of his responsibilities and is on leave.”

Matsoukas is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on July 19.

What was her motive?
I am not way up on the case but was in a chat during some coverage yesterday and watched a bit and asked some questions. I am a bit torn on what she deserved.

She turned 18, was to have a party, went to him I think for money to get her hair done and for the party, etc. and he was drunk. I gather he usually was. He also was a hoarder, filthy house, etc. from what I gather and she lived with him but could have lived with her mom as her siblings did from what I understand. She got upset with him or they got into it over something and she threw things at him. Denies I believe throwing the lye, intent or knowing she did so and I don't have all the details but I think also tried to blame a friend who went to confront him later.

The hard part too is he lived for five months afterwards so was it the lye and burns that did him in... He had other health issues I gather where another person may well have survived.

Also he watched a slept, watched a movie and drank more I believe after she threw it on him (IF she did). Somehow, again didn't follow the case so I don't have all facts, I think the lye was wettened and then it got serious. Not sure but I think the friend that went over threw water on him and some speculate he drunkenly urinated himself. I gather many of the burns were in the groin area...

I never even heard of the case until seeing headlines recently in YT etc. as it was in trial.

Jury came back VERY fast imo.

I don't think this girl likely intended to kill. I feel assault charges only may have been more appropriate, however, again I don't know the details well.

Mods, can a thread be made about this?
Not sure why I can’t link this from my phone right now (I’ll come back and add the link later) but there’s now a thread for the Doerman boys.

Fleeing after she ran over her own granddaughter. If it was on purpose, Of course she would flee. That makes it so much more evil. Accidentally, She still took off. That's evil too. IMO It was intentional. Unbelievable no matter what.

I only slept last night for a little over an hour. This was bothering me. It was the implosion that there would be no trace of these people. I said yesterday it reminded of some 9/11 victims that there is no trace of. I saw a documentary that some victims were identified by a bone fragment the size of a "Tic Tac". All of us at work the next day were exhausted for obvious reasons.
