The Murder of Rob and Michele Reiner in Brentwood, California

I’m watching a live report that Rob Reiner and his wife were stabbed to death in Brentwood and it might’ve been by Rob‘s son. Still waiting for verification.

Watching another one where it is said nannies unexpectedly quit, in later years, help was sacred of Nick, etc.

He had imaginary friends well into adolescence supposedly and once at 11 tried to cut the heads off of all his action figures, not as a joke, but saying they talked too much.

Rob pulled strings, Michelle wrote checks. Trouble he got into just disappeared, pulling strings... Worse yet once a teenager. Carved eyes into the wall.

A lot more.

He always had a knife, always present. Siblings kept their distance and one reportedly stopped visiting all together.

Rob tried to help for years, then gave UP. Nick met every effort with hostility. Rob tried spiritual advisers, he sat in on therapy, alternative treatments, even a private chef to balance Nick's energy... Okay...

There must be a lot more people and sources talking than I knew of. I'm not done with this one yet but what I just said comes from this one.

If these reports are true, I’m surprised he wasn’t diagnosed with schizophrenia earlier.

There’s a lot of stories flying around. It’ll be interesting to see what sticks.

Maybe others knew, but I had no idea Billy Crystal had said so much. That's what this mostly is.

It does say Romy saw her dad and instantly fled, not seeing Michelle who was in a different area. Yet at the end it said they were in the bedroom so they don't exactly compute, those two statements. A master bedroom in a mansion is probably a suite with sitting area, maybe living room and more, dressing rooms and so on. So maybe that explains it, she was just not right where Romy saw her...

Anyhow Rob talked to Billy about Nick in November, calling him over.

And it is said he relapsed and had relapsed many, many times.

And a lot more.

Wow. So she was not in bed. He was in rehab 18 times. I didn't know him and Billy were close. The conversation between the two. Where Rob couldn't see Nick as a threat. But said the smallest thing could make things spiral out of control. It was clear they loved Nick. But I wish they would have said enough is enough a long time ago. So they did have a big argument about the party. I wonder if him and Robin Williams were close. So many clips of him. Gone 11 years now. Such a huge loss. It seems that Rob was such a wonderful person.

Yeah, no kidding. I don't know either other than as giving insight that a lot of this kind of thing would ever come in at trial necessarily.

Now they are talking of how the guest house was kind of a prison so to speak, dark drapes, security code changed weekly, full of his journals and much written in code or more eyes drawn, etc. Also they are saying he DID have a digital footprint, he just didn't post as himself... Hmm...

I think the biggest takeaway here in some ways is that money and power can't buy fixing someone or fixing all problems.

Hearing that they tried spiritual advisers and a chef though seems sooooo ridiculous to me and so Hollywood or something... Is that what the rehab places were like too?

I don't know that I buy he had SP as a younger child. I'm not sure I buy that he has it now. Of course it is beneficial to a defense if he does. I'd like to know just when this was supposedly diagnosed... I mean it should have been years ago with their money and attempts at diagnoses and help IF it existed years ago.

You know, he controls by these types of behavior too. He controls the family, the parents, keeping everyone around him worried about him or for him, etc... If he felt ignored or unloved, or even was spoiled but felt those things perhaps...

Was it in the interview of the movie, can't exactly recall but the interview was about the movie anyhow, where Rob said they had to learn from Nick what wasn't right or good or worked for him for rehab and quit listening to these doctors, etc. with their credentials framed on the wall and so on who told them he was manipulating them...

Imo he WAS manipulating them. Even in getting them to believe that he knew best. Although I do agree doctors don't always know best for us.

Not that I can really know of course. Just thoughts. But also based on some things I've seen in life.

That's what most I've heard have guessed. Take the stronger one out first, dad. Makes sense. Could have awakened her, you'd imagine it would if in the same bed. OR she could have been up yet even, say in a sitting room watching TV or getting ready for bed. Or even in his attack on her she could have went off the edge of the other side of the bed and then someone wouldn't see her, but it did sound anyhow like Romy just got the glimpse of her father and ran and got help.

It feels gruesome to talk that way but it's probably one of those things. I don't find it odd at all that she didn't see her mom dead, there could be 100 reasons for that I guess is my point.

One source said Michelle slept with her door locked. So perhaps they did have separate bedrooms.

Also that she was looking at out of state properties.

That his postings and interests online were conspiracy, showing odd behavior, more.

That Hollywood didn't do anything or just accepted it because Nick after all was a Reiner, an untouchable family, he had the right name, was just going through something, etc.

I am paraphrasing I should point out.

It seems clearly to me the parents were protecting an image or trying to keep the worst of it to themselves. I guess though most of us would do that as it is so deeply personal and such ah problem.

Anyhow this second one too, seems clear people have talked or are talking. Who knows the accuracy but all such claims seem to come from "those that would know". Etc.

I don't know that I will finish this one until later but I keep listening to bits and sharing before I forget.

There’s inpatient rehab and outpatient rehab. I’m assuming he was an outpatient.

If his meds weren't under control, I would think inpatient. But if he was even going through treatment, it would have to be outpatient. The party, killing them. They might be able to get a pass depending on the patient for so many hours. But it's not every day. So if he was in treatment I'm sure you're right.

Yeah me too. I think it was planned, calculated and he also knew enough to take off and hide and wash the blood off, etc.

The stuff coming out is laying the ground work for sympathy and poor boy had problems if you ask me.

People need to not forget here the terrible actions he took and him flat out knowing it was wrong. Imo.

I wish they would have banned him from the property immediately after feeling that way. Romy said he was dangerous. Rob's last message. "If something happens, tell them I i.tried". That's chilling.Michelle was looking at other properties. WOW! Locking HER bedroom door. Called a woman's hotline.

Duh. That shows to me, hiding evidence means he wasn't perfectly aware of his actions. Premeditated.45 minutes erased from the cameras. Couldn't hear been done remotely. Good luck when the insanity plea.
Yes. They could have could have called someone and have him held on 72 hour hold. If he was acting out of control. You can call the police. They will take a person there. Call a psych ward at a hospital. You go by ambulance. He would have been forced to cooperate. Them taking him there. No. I believe they tried everything they could think of. That they really loved Nick. But Rob did speak to an attorney about having him removed. Told yes, but it could get messy. I wish he would have done it. Messy or not.

You can do 72 hour hold as many times as necessary. Danger to yourself or others.

Right. He's being held. Why would he go. If he showed up. He would be thrown out. Probably literally, or worse.
