AMBER Alert issued for missing 6-year-old Utah boy last seen with mother Saturday

An AMBER Alert was issued for 6-year-old Terran Butler, who was kidnapped by his biological mother on Saturday during a supervised visit.

"Through the investigation we believe that she is a danger to the child," Sgt. Melody Cutler with the Unified Police Department told 2News.

When Butler's father attempted to pick up his son from the visit, Jolley allegedly had taken the boy without consent.

According to court documents, Unified police officers were called to the home of Emily Jolley's mother, Larain Jolley, Saturday night.

Officers asked Larain Jolley for consent to search the property to look for Terran and his mother, but were denied, according to an arrest affidavit. Officers received a search warrant for the property and arrested Larain Jolley.

The arrest affidavit says police searched Larain Jolley's phone and found messages between Larain, Emily, and another woman.

In the messages, Larain Jolley received instruction from the woman to tell the police that Emily had moved out days ago, the affidavit says. The messages between Emily and Larain Jolley said not to talk in the group text about "the thing we talked about on the group text," the police affidavit stated.

Larain Jolley was brought to the Unified Police Department for an interview and refused to cooperate with detectives, according to police. The arrest affidavit says Larain Jolley told detectives she knew the boy was safe and would not give any more information.

Larain Jolley is now in the Salt Lake County Jail on a charge of obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony.

Police say Emily Jolley has ties to Washington State and may be headed in that direction.

I know family dynamics can be all over the place and not all families are "typical". But it says something when you're estranged from your identical twin, IMO...

What? Why do I feel a Lifetime movie is being made? Not to make light of this but wow...

What good will impersonating the sister do if they know it is a possibility? And as far as her changing her appearance before she left, I guess I can see where her husband and perhaps sister thinks it may have been part of a plan but they know it and know what she looked like so I don't quite see that or am not entirely sold on that either...

It would make far more sense to leave and then drastically change your appearance and that of your child. The same with the sister's identity, what good will that do? They said it, they know she has a twin so what?

Something is just not sitting with me right in this case. I can't put my finger on it. I guess someone far gone and not thinking could think these were good plans or ruses, the change of hair, weight gain, take sister's identity... However, I am starting to wonder about the other side here... And some railroading...

So we have a sister apparently against her but a mother who helped her... Right there shows some family dynamics...

I am going to try to keep my mind open on this one because I am starting to see that anything we have heard has come from the other side... I just don't know... I look above and it is constant in the articles, Butler said, Butler said...

On the other hand, it is seeming more and more like the weird Vallow case all of the time...

Again, no offense to any good person in Utah, but is there something in the water there...

Police: Missing 6-year-old Utah boy found safely in Oregon

Terran Butler has been safely located in Coos Bay, Oregon, according to the Unified Police Department. His mother is in police custody.

"This is still an active investigation, so we are unable to release additional details, but wanted to inform the public, who has been extremely helpful in providing and sharing information in this case, that he has been found safe," UPD stated in a tweet.

Coos Bay is approximately 68 miles due west of Roseburg, Oregon, where police said Jolley and Butler might be earlier on Thursday.
