Jackson police investigating missing mother, child; husband in custody
The Jackson Police Department is investigating a missing persons case involving a mother and her young daughter.Police said 32-year-old Shardee McGill and her 3-year-old daughter, Janae, were reported missing Tuesday night. Her husband, Johnathan McGill, contacted police around 8:30 p.m. Sept. 23 to file the report. He told officers the two left home Sunday evening and never returned.
Investigators said her 2017 black Chevrolet Equinox, with Mississippi license plate HNJ 817, was found unoccupied in Epes, Alabama, by local police.
The Jackson Police Department said it is working closely with Alabama authorities. Johnathan McGill has since been taken into custody by Alabama police.
