Police search for woman who went missing in Philadelphia

Police are searching for a woman who went missing in Philadelphia over the weekend.

Kada Scott, 23, was last seen by her family on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at 9:45 p.m. when she left a home along the 8300 block of Rodney Street in Philadelphia to go to her job at the Terrace at Chestnut Hill, a nursing home on 495 East Abington Avenue.

Police said Scott – who traditionally works overnights – then left her job before her shift ended. While she arrived to work in her car, she didn't leave in her vehicle, which was found by police in the parking lot of the nursing home.

Police interviewed Scott's coworkers who didn't notice any strange behavior prior to her disappearance. Police also said they haven't seen any cellphone activity from Scott since she went missing.

Family members told police that shortly before her disappearance, Scott had told them she was being harassed by someone through her phone. Police are working to determine who that person is.

Police also said Scott is active on social media but they haven't seen any activity on her social media accounts since her disappearance. Family members also said Scott does not have a history of disappearing, describing her as an energetic woman.

“What’s troubling about this case is number one, you have a 23-year-old young lady who has completely disappeared," Philadelphia Police Captain John Craig said during a Wednesday afternoon press conference. "We have no cellphone activity or social media activity and she has not reached out to family or friends.”

Scott's parents told NBC10 that they are sick to their stomachs over her disappearance.

"Please come home. I'm so scared and I love you and please come home," Scott's mother, Kim Matthews, said. "Something is out of place. She would never do something like this so I don't know what's going on."

Matthews said that Scott left with her car keys, iPad, iPhone and iWatch but since her phone was shut off, investigators explained that they can't track down her location.

DNA confirms police found the body of Kada Scott, sources say, and new details emerge on what led police to her corpse

It’s not yet clear how Kada Scott died, but a law enforcement source said police believe she was likely killed within 30 minutes of leaving her workplace the night she disappeared.

earlier searches, the tipster said, and they should look along the old wooden fence that divides the school from the recreation center next door, said the sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.

“GO BACK YOU MISSED HER,” the tipster wrote, according to the sources.

Officers were walking through the densely wooded area again on Saturday afternoon, the sources said, when one stepped on a patch of earth that felt softer than the rest — leaves, sticks, and debris scattered loosely on top.

Police excavated the area, and, a few feet down, they found Scott’s body.

It’s not yet clear how she died. It could take days or weeks for the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.

But new video evidence suggests that Scott was likely killed within just 30 minutes of her leaving her workplace the night she went missing, the sources said.

After detectives identified King as a suspect, they pored over the location data from his and Scott’s phones. It showed that King was the last person in touch with Scott on Oct. 4, that his phone traveled with hers briefly before her phone was turned off, and that he was in the area of Awbury Arboretum later that night,

Investigators went to the recreation center on Friday and recovered new surveillance footage that showed King pull into the parking lot around 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 in a Hyundai Accent that had been reported stolen, two sources said. He left the car there that night — most likely with Scott’s body inside, the sources said.

The footage appeared to show King return to the car two days later and retrieve and move what they believe to be Scott’s body, the sources said. It’s not clear whether he acted alone.

Wow! Seems like they have got the POS every which way with that evidence and the help of the tipster.

Accomplices may be involved in death of missing Philadelphia woman Kada Scott: DA

Investigators are looking into whether there could have been an accomplice involved in the Kada Scott case.

Police announced on Monday that they are also looking into the possibility of accomplices.

"We did charge conspiracy, so at this point, we do have reason to believe that other people may have been involved after the fact," said Assistant District Attorney (ADA) Ashley Tesloski, adding that they were not going to comment yet on who those people are or the level of their involvement.

Kada Scott’s cause of death released by medical examiner

The Philadelphia Medical Examiner released Kada Scott’s exact cause of death on Thursday, October 23.

The examiner says Scott’s death was caused by a gunshot wound to the head. The manner of her death has been declared a homicide.

New homicide charges were filed against the suspect, Keon King, in the death of Kada Scott on Wednesday. A new five-page affidavit also gives some insight into the communication exchanged between Scott and King in the hours before she was killed.

Keon King charged with murder, officials rule Kada Scott’s death a homicide

In addition to Murder, King, 21, is also charged with Abuse of a Corpse and Robbery. He still faces charges that were previously announced before Scotts remains were identified. Those charges include Arson, Conspiracy, Tampering with Evidence, Reckless Endangerment, Unauthorized Use of an Automobile, and Receiving Stolen Property. He is currently being held on a $2.5 million bail.

The morning before Scott went missing on October 4th, court documents state that Scott sent a text message to a number that police have connected with King. The message read, “kidnap me again.” Police are still investigating the context around that message. Following the text sent around 10 a.m., the two made arrangements to meet. Before picking up Scott from work, King called Scott on her cell phone 12 times before he picked her up Scott from her place of work in Mt. Airy around 10:45 p.m. He arrived in a stolen, black Hyundai Accent, a car is accused of later burning in which the Arson and Tampering with Evidence charges stem. Investigators said a few minutes after it is believed her phone went offline, her phone went offline.

Investigators said they’ve obtained video evidence of the black Hyundai parked in the lot of the Awbury Recreation Center adjacent to the grounds of the vacant Ada Lewis Middle School where Scott’s remains were found in a shallow grave on October 18.

The day after Scott’s disappearance, King’s gold Toyota Camery is seen at the rec center. Detectives said surveillance video shows two individuals exit the Camery. Hours later, two individuals are seen carrying an object out of the stolen black Hyundai. The object was consistent with that of a body.

Police are searching for two other suspects believed to have played a role in the death of Scott.

Four! people involved?? What is this? Kidnap me again??

Receiving stolen property, does that mean the car he had was stolen by one of the others and brought to him?

Gunshot wound to the head, no mention of any assault although it does not mean there wasn't one.

Again, what is this?

I cannot understand it unless he did kidnap her once before and she had a relationship with him. Then broke off so he did it again. However she left work voluntarily before the end of her shift so whatever happened she appears to have voluntarily met him, maybe to break up, so then he killed her.

Your guess is as good as mine it is confusing. Most murders don't involve four people, even in cover up afterwards. Is this a gang or a ring? Car thieves? What?

We know he had a prior charge of kidnapping and he seems more the type to personally assault women as well but this sounds different...

The only thing I can guess at her kidnapping remark is maybe in jest (at least by her) and kidnapping her from work for fun or something and she enjoyed it so she asked him for a repeat "date". Otherwise if it means a real kidnapping it would be for ransom, but that seems unlikely. Did she know about his previous kidnapping charge? The fact she refers to kidnapping her at all is very odd...

It says police are still investigating the context around that message so apparently they don't know either...

Was she part of something with him and the other guys? Did they think her an informant of some kind? That seems farfetched but I just don't get it.. One gunshot wound to the head. They don't say one but it sounds like it. They also don't say she was assaulted.

One thing seems clear--she contacted him on this occasion. He then called her numerous times that day before picking her up...

Her friends and family said she was being harassed by someone yet here she is telling him to kidnap her.... Again...

many new questions.
what was the involvement of guy #2? were there really 2 more men? who helps a buddy bury a body?

So the black car he picked her up in was stolen so she wouldn't have necessarily recognised the car. The only thing i can think of is that she had been seeing someone else, he found out and murdered her. It seems to be revenge IMO.

An earlier post states she was dead 30 minutes after being picked up.

But it sounds as if she asked him to pick her up basically with the "kidnap me again"... And how did he get her to come outside? I think he stole the car most likely so that LE would not track him down after he killed her (which failed) or maybe he was having car trouble. He also called her before then, many times. it sounds to me as if she knew exactly who was picking her up...

Maybe he was stalking and harassing her and she thought by seeing him once more maybe she could appease him or talk to him and get it to stop?

I don't know. Why did he change his phone for instance? So he had a different phone and a different car. I am just wondering if he was impersonating someone else. I am also wondering if she knew exactly who she was communicating with, that's all. He killed her within 30 minutes apparently.

I agree it's a confusing case and like you I am wanting answers because as it stands it is hard to say just WHAT was going on or this was about. It could be a number of things.

I'd think she would have to know it was him, how would he impersonate in a phone call and why would she tell him to kidnap her (again).

But who knows... As it stands, it is nothing but confusing to us as to what was going on imo.

Kada Scott laid to rest after Mount Airy funeral

Kada Scott was laid to rest following a funeral in Mount Airy on Saturday, more than a month after the 23-year-old went missing.

The 10 a.m. service at the Mount Airy Church of God in Christ was open to the public, with dozens of people showing up wearing pink, Kada's favorite color.

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker was in attendance and spoke during the service. Parker talked about meeting Kada previously, and said that she "knew she came from a good village."

Parker also announced an internship program in Scott's honor, for young women.

Parker also spoke about getting justice for Scott's murder, saying "justice is a part of shining a light, along with lifting up her legacy."

Kada Scott's family carries on her legacy by launching foundation on her 24th birthday

Tuesday, Nov. 18, would have been Kada Scott's 24th birthday, her family says. But since Scott was killed last month shortly after leaving work in Philadelphia's Chestnut Hill section, her family has worked to continue her legacy and ensure she is remembered.

Now, the family is announcing the formation of the Kada Scott Foundation, a way to keep her memory alive by offering scholarships to young women pursuing higher education, creating business microgrants and providing mentorship.

"But with this foundation, the idea is basically to give the next generation of young women in Philadelphia the opportunity that she deserved, but didn't achieve," he added.

Scott was months away from graduating from Penn State University.

Murder trial can move forward for Keon King, charged with killing Kada Scott, judge rules

The murder trial can move forward for Keon King, the Philadelphia man charged with kidnapping and killing 23-year-old Kada Scott, a judge ruled Monday.

An attorney for King said he would enter a not guilty plea at his formal arraignment later this month. Investigators have not disclosed a possible motive for the killing.
