Police search for woman who went missing in Philadelphia

Police are searching for a woman who went missing in Philadelphia over the weekend.

Kada Scott, 23, was last seen by her family on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at 9:45 p.m. when she left a home along the 8300 block of Rodney Street in Philadelphia to go to her job at the Terrace at Chestnut Hill, a nursing home on 495 East Abington Avenue.

Police said Scott – who traditionally works overnights – then left her job before her shift ended. While she arrived to work in her car, she didn't leave in her vehicle, which was found by police in the parking lot of the nursing home.

Police interviewed Scott's coworkers who didn't notice any strange behavior prior to her disappearance. Police also said they haven't seen any cellphone activity from Scott since she went missing.

Family members told police that shortly before her disappearance, Scott had told them she was being harassed by someone through her phone. Police are working to determine who that person is.

Police also said Scott is active on social media but they haven't seen any activity on her social media accounts since her disappearance. Family members also said Scott does not have a history of disappearing, describing her as an energetic woman.

“What’s troubling about this case is number one, you have a 23-year-old young lady who has completely disappeared," Philadelphia Police Captain John Craig said during a Wednesday afternoon press conference. "We have no cellphone activity or social media activity and she has not reached out to family or friends.”

Scott's parents told NBC10 that they are sick to their stomachs over her disappearance.

"Please come home. I'm so scared and I love you and please come home," Scott's mother, Kim Matthews, said. "Something is out of place. She would never do something like this so I don't know what's going on."

Matthews said that Scott left with her car keys, iPad, iPhone and iWatch but since her phone was shut off, investigators explained that they can't track down her location.

An arrest! Wanna bet he lives where they were searching at a house? They also knew each other and he was the last person she was in contact with

A Philadelphia man was arrested and will be charged with kidnapping Kada Scott, a 23-year-old Philadelphia woman who remains missing after her disappearance more than a week ago.
Keon King, 21, surrendered to police on Tuesday, Oct. 14, officials announced during a press conference on Wednesday. While King is accused of kidnapping Scott, the woman remains missing following her disappearance on Oct. 4.

Police are also searching for King's vehicle, which they describe as a gold 1999 Toyota Camry with front-end damage on the left front bumper. The vehicle was spotted in various Philadelphia neighborhoods, including Center City, Mount Airy, Grays Ferry and Southwest Philadelphia. Police also said the car has the Pennsylvania license plate MSX-0797 though they're concerned that plate may have been removed.

King has an extensive criminal history. Police said he had been charged earlier this year with kidnapping another woman but the case was dismissed in May when the victim didn't show up to court. During that incident, King allegedly kidnapped a woman he knew in front of her home, threw her in a car, assaulted her and then let her out of the vehicle. Investigators described the incident as "domestic" in nature.
That case was refiled on Tuesday following King's arrest in Scott's disappearance, officials said.
Scott has been missing since Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, after she disappeared while working an overnight shift at her job at the Terrace at Chestnut Hill, a nursing home on East Abington Avenue.
Her family last saw her at about 9:45 p.m. that evening when she left her home along the 8300 block of Rodney Street to head to work.
However, police said she never finished her shift.

Philly Police reveal new details on missing woman

Police said that she drove to work, and parked her car there, but she didn't leave in her vehicle.
The car was found by police in the parking lot of the nursing home after she was reported missing, officials said.
Also, officials said that interviews with Scott's coworker revealed that she had complained that someone had been harassing her through her phone shortly before her disappearance.
Police explained that they haven't seen any cellphone activity from Scott since she went missing. They also said King was the last person who was in contact with Scott before her disappearance. Police said King and Scott knew each other prior to the kidnapping though it's unclear for how long.
Her family hasn't given up hope of finding Scott and they spent last weekend canvassing the neighborhood where she was last seen and handing out flyers.
"We are just trying to figure out more. As much as we can," said Sanaya Murray, Scott's friend.
A day earlier, on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, investigators were searching for Scott at the Awbury Arboretum in Philly's Germantown neighborhood, but officials said they found nothing.
Philadelphia Police and the FBI are all involved in the investigation which police are still treating as a missing person case. They are asking anyone with information on Scott's whereabouts or anyone who may have been victimized by King in the past to call Philadelphia Police at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
“Anyone that may have been involved with this individual or anyone that may know this individual, please at this point in time make that phone call, feel comfortable enough to call us and let us know if you have any information regarding this person regarding any interaction you’ve had with this individual,” Philadelphia Police 1st Deputy Commissioner John Stanford said. “If you have been a victim of any crime regarding this individual, we want you to understand that now is the time to make that phone call and let us know.”

I'm still stuck on a place that does memory care, patients that are prone to wandering, supposedly has no cameras. That seems negligent to me.

So they found him but not his car? Wanna bet the car has some evidence in it? Also:
King has an extensive criminal history. Police said he had been charged earlier this year with kidnapping another woman but the case was dismissed in May when the victim didn't show up to court. During that incident, King allegedly kidnapped a woman he knew in front of her home, threw her in a car, assaulted her and then let her out of the vehicle. Investigators described the incident as "domestic" in nature.

An EXTENSIVE criminal record. Another one who should not have been on the streets it sounds like. The first woman did not show up but they are filing those charges now, did she come forward now or did they always have enough without her?

It says he "surrendered" to police. Does that mean there was a stand off or he went into their office of his own accord? Was there a warrant for him?

I bring that up as if he willingly surrendered, apparently he did not give up her location. I'm thinking the outcome is not going to be a good one.

It seems clear to me he is well known by police or he is now for sure as they are looking for others and make it clear now is the time to come forward about him if he did anything to them/others.

Imo it is clear the system again and either judge or deal makers (prosecutors) likely let him go way too many times and because of it, a woman is now likely dead.

What we know about Keon King, suspect in Kada Scott disappearance

Keon King is facing several charges, including kidnapping and reckless endangerment. And police said this isn't the first time he's been arrested on similar charges this year.

Investigators believe that King was the last person who was in contact with Scott, that they had been communicating for a short time, but how they knew each other was unclear.

But officials say this isn't the first time that King's been charged with similar crimes, calling it a "pattern of behavior."

According to Assistant District Attorney Ashley Toczylowski, King was arrested and charged earlier this year with kidnapping and strangulation.

In that case, King was charged with kidnapping a woman he knew, throwing her in her car, assaulting her, and then letting her out. Those charges were dismissed in May, however, after Toczylowski said the witness didn't show up to court several times. Now, police say they're refiling that case, and charging King with an additional count of kidnapping.

While King is in custody, officials have not yet found Scott. The PPD's Homicide Division is still investigating the case, but they hope Scott is still alive.

"The case was shifted to homicide because we have the most experienced investigators in our homicide unit," said PPD Deputy Commissioner John Stanford, adding that the department is "still treating this as if Scott is alive."

In searching for Scott, officers are looking for King's car, which they said King got rid of in an attempt to elude police.

The car is a 1999 gold Toyota Camry, which investigators say has heavy front-end damage on the left front bumper. The license plate number is MSX-0797, but officials said the car may not have the same tag anymore.

"We need to know where this car is," said Frank Vanore, the . "We need to find this car. Making this very clear is not to just focus on the northwest section of the city of Philadelphia. This car has traversed through the entire city. And so I want that to be clear that every neighborhood, every person listening to this, whether you're in North Philly, South Philly, Southwest, Northwest, please open your eyes."

That's a pretty old car and I wouldn't think too darned many are on the road there. If I lived there I'd call in every single one I saw no matter who was in it or what plate it had. That seems to be what they are saying, they just did not say it very clearly.

And I thought my car was old. That one is more than 25 years old.

I dont think this article has been posted.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A suspect has been arrested and charged with kidnapping in connection with the disappearance of a Philadelphia woman, police announced on Wednesday, as an urgent search continues for a car connected to the case.
Kada Scott, 23, has been missing since early October.
Officials said the suspect has been identified as 21-year-old Keon King, of Southwest Philadelphia.

Shortly after Wednesday's press conference, police said a tip came in about possible evidence related to the case.
The tip led police to an abandoned elementary school, near the Awbury Arboretum in Germantown.
Police say they did find physical evidence at the location, which investigators say ties Scott to the scene.

Officials said they brough in K-9s, as well as crime scene investigators and homicide detectives to conduct a further search of the area.
Police had searched the area of Awbury Arboretum last week, but said nothing was found during that initial search.
Police say King was the last person in contact with Scott, noting that the two did know each other; however, it is unclear for how long.
Investigators said they believe King and Scott came in contact with each other the day she went missing.
"Our evidence is pretty clear that she was in communication with an individual, that individual appears to meet her very shortly after she leaves her place of work, and very shortly after that, she disappears," Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore, for Philadelphia police, said during Wednesday's press conference.
Police also said they are trying to locate a car connected to Scott's disappearance.

We believe she may have been in that vehicle," Assistant District Attorney Ashley Toczylowski said.
The vehicle is described as a 1999 metallic gold Toyota Camry with a Pennsylvania tag of MSX0797. It has heavy front-end damage on the left front bumper.
They say the vehicle has been seen in various locations across the city and ask anyone who sees a car like it to call police at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
"We know it's been in Mount Airy. We have photos of it in Center City, we have pictures of it in Grays Ferry area and in Southwest Philadelphia. So it's possible that it could be anywhere, it could be outside the city," Vanore said.
Officials added that it is possible the car no longer has the tag they are associating with the vehicle.
"Every person listening to this, whether you're in North Philly, South Philly, or Southwest, Northwest -- please open your eyes and see if you locate this car or if you have seen this car, please contact us and give us that information," 1st Deputy Commissioner John Stanford said, adding, "The public has been very, very helpful thus far in providing a lot of information, which the investigators have been able to track down a lot of the leads, which has helped us get to this point here."
"Now is the time to make that phone call and let us know," Stanford said.
Police said King has an alleged "pattern" with this type of history and are asking any other possible victims to come forward.
Toczylowski said King is allegedly connected to a previous kidnapping and strangulation case from earlier in 2025. That case was never tried because the victim did not appear in court, officials said.
Officials said Wednesday they are going to refile charges in that case.
Scott was last seen leaving her workplace, a senior living facility in Chestnut Hill, on the night of Saturday, October 4.

Before her disappearance, Scott had told people that she was being harassed, but it is unclear if King was the person allegedly harassing her.
While King is in custody, police said there is "still a lot of work needs to be done."
"We are treating this as if Ms. Scott is still alive," Vanore said.
"The number one priority is locating Ms. Scott," said Stanford.
This comes just days after officials said homicide investigators were assisting in the case.
"The case was shifted to homicide because we have the most experienced investigators in our homicide unit. They have the most experience dealing with all types of investigations. They also have the most resources available to them," Stanford explained on Wednesday.
Police say her car was still at work the day she went missing and that her phone is dead.
Action News learned police searched a home last Thursday night on the 5500 block of Belmar Terrace in Southwest Philadelphia.
The next day, police were out in force searching the Awbury Arboretum, which is about three miles from where Scott was last seen.
Friends and family have been out looking for the 23-year-old, too.
"Canvass the neighborhoods, any leads we can possibly get so we can possibly get so we forward to police in hopes of getting my daughter back home," said Scott's father, Kevin Scott.
Now, as the search is well into its second week, her family is anxious for answers and pleading for anyone who may know anything to come forward.
They've also started a GoFundMe. They say the money raised will be a reward for credible information that leads to finding Kada.
"You never know what little, small, minuscule information may apply to the big picture, the puzzle that might get Kada home. So whatever you think may help, call and report it to the police department," said Scott.
Sources say the FBI is also assisting with this search and investigation.
King is now facing charges for two kidnapping cases.
Anyone with information can call or text Philadelphia police at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or submit an anonymous tip online.

The other woman was probably too scared to appear.
Too afraid of him and possibly too afraid of how she was treated when filing it in the first place or how she would be treated if she had to testify. Sometimes they are more afraid of the process than the person. If she has any kind of shade in her past, they might not have taken her seriously. Not sure of her circumstances, but yes, too afraid.

Law enforcement officials told NBC10 that they have found Keon King's car after he was accused of kidnapping Kada Scott.

That's great news. The article I posted mentioned he turned himself in after getting rid of the car. Maybe he told them where it was in the end.

ETA i just reread the 8abc article I posted and it has been updated as they have found some physical evidence, a card and a phone case that could be tied to the victim.

Update states as follows-

Investigators are scouring parts of Philadelphia's Germantown section on Wednesday afternoon for clues in connection with the disappearance of Kada Scott, a Philadelphia woman who vanished earlier this month after she left work.
On Wednesday, police deployed drones, K9 units, and crime scene teams to search an abandoned elementary school near the Awbury Arboretum. The search was prompted by a tip following the arrest of 21-year-old Keon King of Southwest Philadelphia, who police say was the last person in contact with Scott.

"Shortly after arriving here we were able to locate some physical evidence, which ties Miss Scott to this scene, and obviously this is very substantial," said Sgt. Eric Gripp with the Philadelphia Police Department.
Sources also tell Action News that a card and a phone case were found, which might have ties to the victim.

I kind of doubt it. Tell where the car but not where she is? I think it was more likely a tip after they put the word out but who knows?

in the video that car sure doesn't look metallic gold but I guess it is and the lighting is just bad or something.

Now, if they can find her next. I don't hold out much hope she is alive, sadly.

Law enforcement officials told NBC10 that they have found Keon King's car after he was accused of kidnapping Kada Scott.
https://t.co/5wB5dxptok

Officers were brought to the area tip following a tip call that was received at 3:10 p.m. Police say the car, which was heavily tinted, will be towed and later searched after a warrant is approved.

Confirmed they found her phone case and a card (?). Vehicle has been towed.

Earlier in the day, officers deployed drones, K9 units, and crime scene teams to search an abandoned elementary school near the Awbury Arboretum in the Germantown section of the city.

"Shortly after arriving here, we were able to locate some physical evidence, which ties Miss Scott to this scene, and obviously this is very substantial," said Sgt. Eric Gripp with the Philadelphia Police Department.

Sources also tell Action News that the victim's card and a phone case were found.

Police towed the 1999 metallic gold Toyota Camry with Pennsylvania tag MSX0797 out of the apartment complex where it was found on Wednesday. It had heavy front-end damage on the left front bumper.

"We believe she may have been in that vehicle," Assistant District Attorney Ashley Toczylowski said.

Sources say King's family lives in the area where the vehicle was found.
