BOLO: Alabama Mom Allegedly Says 3-Year-Old Girl ‘Disappeared Mysteriously’ from Bedroom

Police in Alabama are seeking tips on a missing 3-year-old girl, reported missing out of Enterprise.

According to the Enterprise Police Department, Genises Nova Reid was last seen at 201 Apache Drive. The exact day she disappeared is currently unclear.

WFSA reports that neighbors said that they have not seen Genises since early January. Multiple sources reportedly said that law enforcement is questioning the mother’s story; she claimed that Genesis “disappeared mysteriously” from a bedroom.

A missing persons flyer shared by Enterprise police indicated that her parents said their door had been opened and that they couldn’t locate the child.

It’s unclear which door at their residence had been found opened.

Mother of missing, possibly dead Enterprise girl moved to another jail

The mother of a missing and possibly dead Enterprise girl has been transferred to another facility as she awaits trial.

Adrienne Reid was transferred from the Coffee County Jail to another corrections facility on Wednesday morning, according to Sheriff Scott Byrd.

The Coffee County Sheriff’s app shows that Reid had been released. The reason for Reid’s transfer or where she is being held will not be released.

The search of the landfill is expected to take eight to ten weeks, with teams of 75 to 100 people searching every day.

Hearing looms in Enterprise toddler murder case as search for child continues

Adrienne Reid, charged with murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Genesis, in Enterprise—heads back to court next week when Coffee County judge will decide whether this case moves forward to a grand jury.

Here’s the brutal reality. Genesis’ body still hasn’t been found. But investigators say the evidence points one way—they believe Reid killed her daughter on Christmas Day, then discarded her remains in a dumpster that was later hauled to the Coffee County landfill..

The preliminary hearing is set for April 22 in front of Coffee County District Judge Josh Wilson. And despite how serious this is, a preliminary hearing isn’t a full trial, it’s a checkpoint. Prosecutors don’t need to prove the case “beyond a reasonable doubt” here. The bar is low—really low. Usually, the state presents limited testimony, often from an investigating officer, and the judge decides whether there’s enough to keep the case moving.

Defense attorneys David Harrison and Laura Wells can cross-examine—and they will---but without hopes of getting cases dismissed.

The hearing is pretty much a formality despite the lack of a body.

Police are still searching for Genesis, relying on specialized teams at the landfill.

Coffee County District Attorney James Tarbox says he plans to seek the death penalty. Reid is charged with capital murder, along with abuse of a corpse and providing false information to investigators.

Hearing canceled after grand jury indicts Enterprise mother accused in toddler’s presumed death

A court hearing set Monday for Adrienne Reid, an Enterprise woman accused in the presumed death of her 2-year-old daughter was abruptly canceled — a sudden procedural turn that signals grand jury indictments in a case where the child is still missing.

A person in Coffee County District Judge Joshua Wilson’s office said the 1:30 p.m. hearing was called off because the “case is no longer under the jurisdiction of the district court.” That statement points to one of two outcomes: the charges were dismissed, which has not happened, or a grand jury returned an indictment, moving the case into Coffee County Circuit Court.

Coffee County District Attorney James Tarbox confirmed that grand jurors met on Friday but declined to discuss the proceedings, citing Alabama confidentiality laws that keep grand jury proceedings private.

Reid, 33, faces a capital murder charge and other criminal counts tied to the alleged death of her daughter, Genesis. Police believe the toddler was killed on Christmas night. Genesis has not been found.

Troy Police Join Search For Missing Enterprise Toddler, Genesis

The Troy City Council has approved an agreement allowing Troy Police Department to assist Enterprise Police Department in the ongoing search for missing toddler Genesis Reid, who authorities believe is deceased.

According to a report by The Troy Messenger, council members unanimously approved a Memorandum of Understanding that will allow Troy officers to join the search effort centered at the Coffee County Landfill.

Under the agreement, Troy officers will assist in what officials describe as an extensive landfill search. Troy Police Chief Danny Barron said investigators have narrowed down the possible area, but the effort is still expected to be large in scale.

Barron added that several officers have already volunteered to take part in the search.

I guess I thought they had already started... Apparently they were just in the planning stages.

Search for remains of missing 2-year-old Enterprise girl starts first week of May
The Enterprise Police Department (EPD) are set to begin their search of the Coffee County Landfill to hopefully recover the remains 2-year-old Genesis Reid.

The search will begin the first week of May, with 60 personnel and support staff who'll be working daily to sort through landfill material. The excavation of the landfill has been carefully planned over the last two months to ensure that evidence is handled properly.

Law enforcement agencies that helped organize the search were able to narrow down the search radius to a specific portion of the landfill. The search team will be excavating the material and transporting it to another location to be thoroughly searched, before transporting the searched material to another location.

EPD and the Coffee County Sheriff's Office says that the search for Genesis may take up to nine weeks. Although they appreciate the community's desire to help, they need people to steer clear of the landfill unless there to use it.

Investigators have used advanced GPS data to narrow the search to a specific and targeted area of the landfill.

Enterprise Police Chief Michael Moore put the scale of that work into perspective by using an analogy: the search area has gone from thousands of football fields down to just about two.

Moore said the operation could take up to nine weeks, but with the data they have, he is hopeful they can bring Genesis home sooner. He called it a physically, emotionally and mentally demanding search.

“I got a soft place in my heart for children. I think anybody that’s in law enforcement or public safety, first responders, we all have that soft spot. And our goal is to bring justice to little Genesis. And she’s not forgotten,” Moore said. “Being able to come down to a specific area, it will shorten it greatly. And hopefully we don’t have to be out there for nine weeks. We can bring her home sooner.”
