BOLO: Alabama Mom Allegedly Says 3-Year-Old Girl ‘Disappeared Mysteriously’ from Bedroom

Police in Alabama are seeking tips on a missing 3-year-old girl, reported missing out of Enterprise.

According to the Enterprise Police Department, Genises Nova Reid was last seen at 201 Apache Drive. The exact day she disappeared is currently unclear.

WFSA reports that neighbors said that they have not seen Genises since early January. Multiple sources reportedly said that law enforcement is questioning the mother’s story; she claimed that Genesis “disappeared mysteriously” from a bedroom.

A missing persons flyer shared by Enterprise police indicated that her parents said their door had been opened and that they couldn’t locate the child.

It’s unclear which door at their residence had been found opened.

Missing toddler’s mom hires attorney who wants her million-dollar bond slashed

Adrienne Reid, the Enterprise mother charged in relation to the disappearance of her young daughter, has retained a well-known defense attorney.

Court records show that moments after David Harrison notified court officials that he will represent Reid, he filed a motion seeking to have her extraordinarily high bond reduced.

“In this country people are given the benefit of doubt until they are convicted,” Harrison told WTVY News4, saying the high bond is punishing Reid with little or no evidence against her.

Though not naming her a murder suspect, Coffee County District Attorney James Tarbox persuaded District Judge Josh Wilson to set a $1 million cash-only bond in Reid’s case, calling her flight risk. The normal bond amount would be no more than $15,000.

Harrison immediately went on the offensive, arguing that Reid is neither a community threat nor flight risk. If his plea for a lower bond is denied, he would almost certainly turn to the circuit court.

“I’m tired of seeing people assuming this woman is guilty with all their social media posts,” Harrison said.

He also filed for a pretrial hearing that would force police to reveal elements of their investigation that may not have previously been made public. A date for the pretrial hearing was not immediately set.

Look it up buddy, it is called The First Amendment.
Exactly although instead of buddy I'd have said dumbas* but buddy works well too! LOL.

Poor child.

CLearly she has money so would be a flight risk. She hired someone high profile... Takes money...

‘We want her found’: Enterprise artist creates portrait of missing toddler Genesis Reid

A local artist has created a pen-stippled portrait of missing 2-year-old Genesis Reid, hoping to keep public attention on the case.

Tyler McGowan drew the portrait, which took approximately three hours to complete. The drawing features signatures from neighbors and others connected to the case.

McGowan told News4 that he spoke with Genesis’ mother, Adrienne Reid, at a store two days before she called police — and that he noticed the child was not with her at the time.

Adrienne Reid reported her daughter missing on Feb. 16. Authorities believe Genesis may have been missing for weeks before the report was made.

McGowan said the portrait has prompted community members to share their own connections to the case.

“By doing this also, it’s getting people’s stories. It’s getting people saying, ‘Okay, I knew this little girl, or I knew her mother.’ So it’s keeping her alive, as in like, tell a story about her,” McGowan said. “We want her found, whether it’s in a good way or in a bad way. We want closure to the community in which this happened then.”

Adrienne Reid is currently jailed on charges of filing false reports related to her daughter’s disappearance. She has not been publicly named a murder suspect.

WATCH LIVE AT 5: Authorities make major announcement in search for missing Enterprise toddler

Enterprise police will provide an update on missing toddler Genesis Reid on Monday afternoon.

While the announcement of a press conference reveals no details, it is expected to be what authorities consider a major announcement.

The girl’s mother, Adrienne Reid, faces charges of false reporting her child’s disappearance but, until now, has not been publicly named a murder suspect.

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

Authorities charged the mother of a missing Coffee County toddler with capital murder and corpse abuse on Monday afternoon.

Adrienne Reid faces the allegations, though searchers have not found the body of her daughter, 2-year-old Genesis Reid, reported missing on Feb. 16.

Charging documents, however, allege the child was killed on Christmas Day.

Video was obtained showing Reid throwing a duffel bag with Genesis’ remains into a dumpster.

Moore said Genesis had visited relatives in Dothan on December 25 and returned home late that night.

‘We grieve together’: Enterprise mother charged with capital murder in toddler Genesis Reid’s death

An Enterprise mother is charged with capital murder and abuse of a corpse in connection with the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Genesis Reid, who had been reported missing since February, police announced Monday.

Enterprise Police Chief Michael Moore said at a press conference that investigators believe Genesis was killed on Christmas Day — more than seven weeks before she was reported missing.

Moore said video from a neighbor’s camera shows Adrienne Reid walking toward an apartment complex dumpster with a duffel bag on Christmas night. A second video, recorded two days later, shows Adrienne Reid returning to the same dumpster with toys and other belongings believed to belong to Genesis.

“Detectives have seen camera footage from a neighboring residence showing Adrienne walking toward the apartment complex dumpster with a rolling duffel bag at approximately 11:30pm on Christmas night,” Moore said.

Authorities said Genesis’ body has not been found. Coffee County Sheriff Scott Byrd said investigators believe her remains may be in the Coffee County landfill, and that multiple agencies will assist in a search using specialized equipment.

“This search is going to be methodical, but we’re not gonna waver at any point looking for her,” Byrd said.

Coffee County District Attorney James Talbox said Reid will have an initial appearance before a judge on the new felony charges later this week. He said his office does plan to seek the death penalty.

Attorney for mother of missing, possibly dead Enterprise girl says case is a ‘theory’

The well-known attorney representing an Enterprise woman now facing murder charges in the disappearance of her daughter says the case against his client is all a theory.

Adrienne Reid was charged with capital murder and corpse abuse on Monday, March 9, in the disappearance of Genesis Nova Reid.

Reid’s attorney, David Harrison, said Monday night that the case against Reid is based on a theory.

“Innocent until proven guilty,” Harrison told WDHN. “Furthermore, I have heard the theory many times, and the definition of a theory is a hypothesis, which is no more than an educated guess. Our rule of law takes more than theories and educated guesses. It takes beyond a reasonable doubt to convict. We look forward to our day in court.”

Investigators to search landfill for remains of Enterprise toddler Genesis Reid

Investigators believe the remains of Genesis Reid, a toddler whose mother is accused of killing her, are located at the Coffee County Landfill, and authorities are now planning a methodical search of the site.

Coffee County Sheriff Scott Byrd said cadaver dogs were deployed to the landfill early in the investigation, narrowing the search to a specific area.

“Early on, I had a gut feeling this is where it went. So I initially went and got cadaver dogs and went to the landfill early on in this investigation. We had about a four to five window,” Byrd said.

The Coffee County Landfill covers 423 acres, 183 of which is used for disposal. Investigators believe Genesis’s remains arrived at the site in late December after her mother allegedly dumped her body into a dumpster outside their Enterprise apartment. Since then, hundreds of tons of garbage have been deposited and compacted at the facility.

Coffee County Administrator Rod Morgan said the landfill takes in approximately 1,200 tons of trash every day.

“We can tell you, relatively, when a load came in and, within a reasonable area, where that waste would be located. But we’re still talking about a significant amount of waste…a high volume of waste,” Morgan said.

Byrd said investigators have narrowed down the most likely location of Genesis’s remains within the landfill and pledged the search would continue until she is found.

“Our landfill is probably one of the most modern landfills in the state of Alabama. This search is going to be methodical, but we’re not going to waver at any point looking for her. This is going to take a while. I’m going to ask you for your patience. We are determined to find her,” Byrd said.

Authorities are calling in Team Adam, a specialized unit from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that focuses on landfill searches in missing children cases.

Team Adam specializes in supporting missing child investigations, including cases where evidence points to a landfill.

"For instance, back in 2019, a little girl named Neveah Adams was murdered by her mom's boyfriend. Law enforcement, through their investigative process, was able to determine that the child had been placed in a dumpster and had been taken to a landfill," said Richard Leanard with Team Adam. "And so, we assisted with doing an assessment. Law enforcement then worked on that case for somewhere around two months before they were able to local partial remains of Nevaeh."

Navaeh was missing for around two months before her remains were found — about the same amount of time police believe Genesis has been dead.

Leonard says these searched are like looking for a needle in a haystack, and time is a major factor.

"We have the most success with cases within about 30 days. The more time that passes, the more trash is placed on top — making it much more difficult," Leonard said. "That trash has to be removed, spread out, and then hand searched. Every bag, every container has to be opened. It's very time consuming."

Coffee County Sheriff Scott Byrd says investigators have narrowed the possible search area, but it's still a massive operation.

It can take hundreds of people, thousands of hours, heavy equipment and specialists, and it can put searchers in harm's way.

"It subjects the searchers to all types of hazards — disease, et cetera. And it's also emotionally difficult. They want to find this child and bring closure, but it takes a toll," Leonard said.

Leonard says there are no guarantees, but Team Adam's job is to help law enforcement make the best decisions possible.
