The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the ongoing search for a missing/endangered 11-year-old Colorado Springs boy who went missing Monday afternoon, and the task force investigating his disappearance is organizing a team of volunteers to start searching for him.

Gannon Stauch was believed to be a runaway after he left his home southeast of Colorado Springs between 3:15 and 4 p.m. on Monday. But as the week progressed, his disappearance was upgraded to a missing/endangered person case.

His stepmother said he left his home on foot to play at a friend’s house down the street on Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies and major crimes detectives had taken “extraordinary steps” to locate the boy, the sheriff’s office said. They were actively searching for evidence and taking witness statements, a sheriff’s office news release issued earlier this week read.

“He’s very young, it’s dark and cold outside and we want to bring Gannon to safety,” the sheriff’s said in a Facebook post earlier this week.

On Thursday afternoon, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and other task force members, as well as Stauch’s parents, hosted a news conference to update the community on his disappearance, discuss the steps being taken in the investigation, and to notify people in the area that they are organizing volunteers to begin a community search effort in coming days.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mitch Mahalko said the sheriff’s office received the investigation on Tuesday afternoon and started doing interviews and collecting video surveillance and talking to neighbors, working to collect new leads.

He said that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and FBI got involved after the case was upgraded to a missing/endangered child case. The FBI’s team specializes in search and rescue and “will be a good partner” in the investigation, Mahalko said.

He said the investigation was active and that authorities were conducting interviews with witnesses and collecting evidence – exhausting every lead they receive.

Mahalko said investigators were looking at “persons of interest” in the case as people who might be able to give them additional information on Stauch’s whereabouts.

He declined to say where authorities had been searching but confirmed that investigators had been in contact with some trash companies in El Paso County and in the Lorson Ranch area.

Kirby stressed that people with tips should report them to their tip line – 719-520-6666 – and not on social media because any tips sent to the sheriff’s office on social media will not be considered.

So did we know about the drugs before this trial? I mean I didn't I don't think but was the info out there?

I know there was a lot of speculation about such just because of the way people thought Gannon dropped something near the truck and the way they thought he was acting on the bit of surveillance camera footage there was which was hard to make out.

What a monster. She not only heaped loads of abuse and injury and battery upon him but had him drugged most likely while doing so making it even harder for him to fight back. And what a coward on top of it.

I am glad I didn't see the defensive wounds picture (haven't watched all and probably shouldn't), hearing all this and thinking of it is about more than i can bear, probably more than most any of us can bear.

The details in both this case and Daybell of what was done to all these children is horrible. I gather the photos and details in that one are very bad as well. The jurors in both cases sure have their work cut out for them to try to keep emotion out of any decision.

Hopefully that decision is to send both monsters away for life. Letecia Stauch and Lori Daybell DESERVE the death penalty imo and it is too bad neither will see it.

Good recap of yesterdays testimony.

I hope I can remember to come back later and read this. I am never going to be able to keep up with these cases. Listening to Brandon Boudreaux in Daybell case right now but have to leave shortly.

And it's been so busy at work that I can't use my free time to catch up, either! What were the odds that three high profile cases would go to trial at the same time!?

Her brother testified today, because he had to(subpoenaed). He was very emotional at the beginning, shouting "why, Tecia!?", then breaking down crying. They had to send the jury out for some minutes. He was emotional when he mentioned seeing her with the green suitcase as well.
I felt so sorry for him, she has destroyed so many lives

Her brother is a strong witness against her.

Nothing explains how anyone can do such a thing but I think she was either trying to hurt her husband in the worst way possible (I do believe he was cheating) or she took her anger out at her husband who wasn't there on the child. Again, doesn't explain it but it's what I think the case likely was.

She also I believe resented having to be the one to stay with the kids and handle all that without his help and they were (two of them) his kids. It is very likely to me she never at any time "loved" his kids but I'm not even sure she is capable of love of anyone but self.
She is a strange one, but IMO she could be insane and still guilty. In all that evil, she was still capable of doing things to cover it up and dispose of the body. I call that crazy. Not quite the same as insane, but whatever. I don't buy the theory that she didn't know right from wrong. If that were true, why go to all that trouble to cover it up?
I didn't follow this case, until the trial started. I knew a little about it, but not all. It makes me sick to hear all that she put that boy through and for what? I've had step-kids, and it isn't easy to "love" them, and it takes real effort to understand them sometimes. But I never wanted to torture and kill one of them. I agree with you though, it could all be jealousy and that happens in a lot of blended families.

There is a special place in Hell for these women who torture and/or kill these kids.
All her little stunts she's pulling during court?? What that says to me is she does not have the respect for the judge or jury that she should have if she wants to avoid going to prison. The judge should call her out of it, not standing for the jury, etc. That is just................CRAZY!!!

I don't know but I don't like how they all did go at the same time. Even if we had time it would be hard.

Yeah, we took are breaking loose at work. I was told come spring when the weather finally breaks or winter ends or takes a break, be ready for it. It was as busy in our department as I've ever seen it since I've been there. We cover a few departments but this is the key one that slows quite a bit in the winter but goes wild most of the rest of the year. We went from weeks of 20s or lower, a rare occasional 30 something and today I believe hit over 70 and tomorrow and the next are supposed to be almost 80 and that isn't all that usual but then we drop back again if they are correct but not back to winter temps so I'm HOPING. I worked on Easter and it was slow, some business but nothing huge and it made for a long day. Today I was hardly able to blink and it was almost time to go home. I think it is so far the first week without a winter type storm in the forecast.

Unfortunately I have to go back in for a one hour meeting from 8 to 9 p.m. tonight after getting home at 5:30. Second time in a month I think. Both have to do with reps teaching or informing us of their new product line and their existing ones as well. So home just long enough to start to settle in but can't. Have to put all work gear back on, etc. and go back in. if we could only not do all that it wouldn't be as bad. And after a long day. So then I won't get back probably til closer to 9:30 or 10 before I can fully relax after working all day and then right back tomorrow morning for day two of four.

Sounds like maybe he should be considered a victim of her as well then in that here he is having to testify and deal with her sh*t. Was he involved in helping her in Florida etc. or did she sn*w him? I think there was speculation about it back when for some reason I can't recall.

Thanks for the info. May be a day of it I will want to watch since it may be years before I can watch all of it after the fact.

It all depends on the parents and dynamics that's for darned sure or one can have jealousy and resentment. Depends on the outside noncustodial parent too and the problems they cause or if they are decent and if the new stepparent is decent and/or how adult the parents are. I'd say anyhow. One could be great, an adult and a great step parent but then the spouse could be not so great, etc., etc. right? I am no stranger to stepfamilies either.

It is quite the case isn't it? And if you hadn't followed it it really has to be quite shocking. It was when it was all occurring and she couldn't keep her mouth shut, online, with the cops in the beginning, etc. and story after story and then moving his body and then escape attempts and so much, just so much. Then complaints from her when in jail coming out, then she wrote a weird letter to the judge, had threats in her peanut butter and then more recently was Kosher and not getting the right food. It is SOMETHING else.

Yeah, I don't know. The legal standard I guess of insanity in most states is knowing right from wrong and by that standard she isn't insane. Does she have some mental health issues? I don't know if I buy that either any more than any of us in this world but she sure isn't insane as far as what the law is imo.

I am definitely not staying up on the testimony in these cases and didn't even get to watch any summaries yesterday to speak of.

I did finish listening to T's brother testify. That's about two days old already I think. Definitely didn't want to be there and proof of what she did to her own family as well in how upset he was and how he and his mom, etc. now feel in their own home town because of what she did.

On ending his testimony I noted he and I believe it was likely his wife immediately left the courtroom. Actually about four or five people did but not sure the others were with him, they may have left as it was a convenient time to leave after a witness finished testifying.

Clearly he had no desire to stay and listen to other parts of the trial or see his sister's trial or hear anything more. Not that he can't watch it later, I'm just saying he/they didn't stick around for any other part of it apparently. I think it likely when they left, they did not return.

More cover up and knowing right from wrong in that she lugged that suitcase, refused help with it, claimed it had sports equipment in it, etc.

I have to wonder what the reason was his aunt insisted vans be switched and T get her own van...? The aunt had paid for the flights, the vehicles, etc. What was the reason for having T get her own vehicle and them all having to transfer the load in one van to another...? He hadn't seen the suitcase come out of the house, do we think he just missed it (odd if that heavy PLUS the cops were checking things coming out, wouldn't they have seen it?) or do we think she already had it in the van and had some opportunity to put it there...? Did the aunt know and so insisted all be transferred into Letecia's own rented van? The only part of the testimony I wondered about was around this stuff and time. He didn't recall who T rode with, etc... No questions were really asked as to when she went to Florida and when and how the family separated from her or if they did, about who was with T, etc., about they themselves heading home and so on...

I didn't understand that either. Those circumstances are a bit murky, but I am afraid we may never know who knew exactly what at what time. And don't forget that she maybe manipulated her family her whole life.
I just watched her Interview with detective Bethel and she was lying about practically everything . Even things having nothing to do with Gannon
