The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the ongoing search for a missing/endangered 11-year-old Colorado Springs boy who went missing Monday afternoon, and the task force investigating his disappearance is organizing a team of volunteers to start searching for him.

Gannon Stauch was believed to be a runaway after he left his home southeast of Colorado Springs between 3:15 and 4 p.m. on Monday. But as the week progressed, his disappearance was upgraded to a missing/endangered person case.

His stepmother said he left his home on foot to play at a friend’s house down the street on Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies and major crimes detectives had taken “extraordinary steps” to locate the boy, the sheriff’s office said. They were actively searching for evidence and taking witness statements, a sheriff’s office news release issued earlier this week read.

“He’s very young, it’s dark and cold outside and we want to bring Gannon to safety,” the sheriff’s said in a Facebook post earlier this week.

On Thursday afternoon, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and other task force members, as well as Stauch’s parents, hosted a news conference to update the community on his disappearance, discuss the steps being taken in the investigation, and to notify people in the area that they are organizing volunteers to begin a community search effort in coming days.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mitch Mahalko said the sheriff’s office received the investigation on Tuesday afternoon and started doing interviews and collecting video surveillance and talking to neighbors, working to collect new leads.

He said that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and FBI got involved after the case was upgraded to a missing/endangered child case. The FBI’s team specializes in search and rescue and “will be a good partner” in the investigation, Mahalko said.

He said the investigation was active and that authorities were conducting interviews with witnesses and collecting evidence – exhausting every lead they receive.

Mahalko said investigators were looking at “persons of interest” in the case as people who might be able to give them additional information on Stauch’s whereabouts.

He declined to say where authorities had been searching but confirmed that investigators had been in contact with some trash companies in El Paso County and in the Lorson Ranch area.

Kirby stressed that people with tips should report them to their tip line – 719-520-6666 – and not on social media because any tips sent to the sheriff’s office on social media will not be considered.

Jodi was charismatic enough to fool two psychologists. This lady doesn't have that ability.
I don't think she does either but it won't stop her from trying and going through or at her defense team. And all are different and I hate to say it but she apparently did fool AS (dad) on some level or another.

I don't know that I think of Jodi as so charismatic but I do think she is smarter than this one here... Well, in some ways smart... She actually did a lot of dumb things...

But yup I think this one will try to run the show, doesn't mean it will work but she will try... Just like Jodi... Just like Lori Vallow and her defiance...

If anyone is bored this winter for instance or watches things here and there as it is a bit long, watch State of WI versus Ezra McCandless in order on court TV. Fairly recent case, I had never heard of it (shows you how quiet news can be on big crimes depending on where). If you don't see a total Jodi Arias by the end of her trial, I will be surprised. It was interesting for me as I went in without an opinion and knew nothing of the case and honestly at first I was falling for it or had times I thought she was not guilty at least of what they thought but by the end I had changed my mind big time...

Sorry for the bit of sidetrack but it was an interesting one to watch...

Jodi convinced two psychologists that she was the victim. She's very unique.

Interestingly, I just watched that entire trial, Jodi's in this past year so fairly recently. I think I know which ones you mean, do you mean the two that testified for the defense? I never followed the case much prior to just not long ago watching the recorded trial.

LaViolette. They were the defense experts. To me, it is not too hard to believe and it bugs me in our system, they have to go find experts who can try to get around not legally insane but they have these conditions or syndromes, etc. and and say what they want and they are not always the best in their fields. The age of these two struck me as well...

If it goes to trial, I would expect the same will be attempted for Leticia... As they say it often comes down to a battle of the experts... Jodi's lost.

Edited to clarify.

Just my own opinion but when experts are paid to testify... Not accusing anyone, some may be stellar, but then one has profit involved, it is always asked if they are objective isn't it? I just don't think it is the best thing in our system done that way...

Letitia's case no doubt will stay interesting as she will probably with her antics

Hopefully justice for Gannon will win out though, and no one will then hear from her again.

She tormented Gannon. She can handle a few threats in her peanut butter. If it's even real.
So well put! Exactly.

I don't find it hard to believe that she could have some threats simply because she is hated by many for what she did to Gannon. However, I find it just as easy to believe it is all lies by her. She may not be convicted yet but we do know she is a liar and that the evidence even thus far is vast.

Perhaps she could try Nutella or honey instead of PB if she has any commissary money or whatever they call it. Even now her options are more than Gannon had in her care which were zilch. Deal with it "Tee".

She has a gift of discerning the reactions of people in these cases that I find fascinating.
She does. Whether an instinct or an instinct combined with smarts, I don't know but she is very good. I watch her as much or more than anyone, just don't always subscribe, log in or comment with any podcast actually. I also like and maybe part of it is that she is in Canada that she is a bit willing to go slightly where some would worry about going. And yet she won't hype overboard all on rumor like J for J did not long ago. Linda went on the Fort Hood one to close to what I think about it, others avoid it.

Watching her from when she started out, who she really is is showing more now. I think at first she was more careful and I watched her but could kind of take it or leave it. Now she lets her passion show when she gets involved and a case upsets her or a child murdered and that I can identify with and I love that she does. And yet even then, she has a way of not pushing the line too far, just far enough and does not go into the rumor mill too far. She is one smart cookie wouldn't ya say? I sure would.

Thanks for sharing the link! Started it but pausing til I have time to finish.
