A little girl is missing from a neighborhood in Cayce.

They said she was on her normal bus from school but she never arrived home.

Family members started searching for Swetlik around 3:45 p.m. Authorities were alerted around 5 p.m.

Cayce officials searching for missing 6-year-old Faye Swetlik

Officials in Cayce are asking for the public's assistance finding a 6-year-old girl they say went missing from her neighborhood.

According to the Cayce Department of Public Safety took to social media of little Faye Marie Swetlik's disappearance. They say she was last seen in the Churchill Heights neighborhood of the city.

Coty Scott Taylor, the 30-year-old male found deceased alongside Faye Swetlik's body Thursday, was a Bluffton High School graduate, according to Beaufort County School officials.

They confirmed that Taylor attended BHS from 2003 to 2007 with an "outstanding" academic career and no disciplinary issues.

His body was found at his residence at 602 Picadilly Square in Cayce, according to police. The Lexington County Coroner identified his body. Faye's body was found in a wooded area nearby.


Officials say they are investigating the case as a homicide. Taylor lived in the neighborhood of Churchill Heights, his home was between 100 and 150 feet from Faye's home. Taylor was not a relative or family friend. Police had spoken with Taylor earlier in the week and had been inside his home.

I just watched a press conference and the coroner said his birth year was 1980. They say he is 30 but that makes him 40. Not sure which is correct. The suspected perp is who I mean.

If he is 40 with no criminal record, I wonder what possessed him to do such a thing at this point unless he has done things before but never been caught.

Whether he was 30 or 40, I doubt folks like us would ever understand how someone could do this. I doubt it was just spontaneous though. Even if there is no prior contact with LE, lots of behavior could remain under the radar for a long time. The investigators are probably looking at things like internet activity, searching for hidden flash drIves, etc. Not just to find a reason, but to make an airtight case. It seems unlikely at this point, but what if this guy was just a witness? We don‘t know anything about him, or if he lived with anyone else, etc.

In any event, though we crave swift justice, we know there’s a lot more work being done to get to the full truth.

The motorcade will depart from MUSC in Charleston at 12:00 P.M. They will travel Interstate 26 Westbound to Airport Blvd. (exit 113), then along Airport Blvd., the Columbia Airport Expressway, Platt Springs Road, and North Lake Drive. Their destination will be Caughman-Harman Funeral Home at 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington.
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Department will travel the entire distance with Faye

I was impressed by this department and their all out efforts. And it continues. 💖

Ordinarily, there would have been an obscure coroner's van to return a body to the hometown. I think it was especially thoughtful for a heartbroken community to have the blue-light motorcade - a chance for people to watch in tribute & for Law Enforcement agencies to honor the little girl they searched so diligently to find. Faye Swetlik's life was meaningful & she will not be forgotten.

Sending up prayers for Faye's family, friends, community & LE.

Yes, I was impressed from this agency from the start. They cared deeply and one can tell.
 
The findings regarding Faye’s autopsy will be released at a Tuesday press conference that will be held by Coroner Fisher and the Cayce Department of Public Safety. The location and time have not been released at this time.

The preliminary findings of the other autopsy for Coty Scott Taylor will also be released at that time.

A few videos, the parents, two articles down the page. They said tow truck drivers have come together and contributed towards the funeral cost. Autopsy results Tuesday to give the parents some needed time.
