Officials continue search for missing 6-year-old girl



A little girl is missing from a neighborhood in Cayce.

They said she was on her normal bus from school but she never arrived home.

Family members started searching for Swetlik around 3:45 p.m. Authorities were alerted around 5 p.m.

Cayce officials searching for missing 6-year-old Faye Swetlik

Officials in Cayce are asking for the public's assistance finding a 6-year-old girl they say went missing from her neighborhood.

According to the Cayce Department of Public Safety took to social media of little Faye Marie Swetlik's disappearance. They say she was last seen in the Churchill Heights neighborhood of the city.

I just saw a segment on HLN (I watch this once in awhile as they are about the only station that covers updates on crimes) and they had picture of cars parked on the street they are looking for from video, etc. They have had answers for one or two and are still looking for another, etc. Faye did walk home with her mother and it sounds like they believe she was playing in her yard. They are still looking for a silver sedan. I will try to see if I can find a link if I get a chance.

Investigators are now looking for the drivers of two unfamiliar vehicles seen in the Churchill Heights neighborhood of Cayce, S.C., around the time Faye was last seen.

The Cayce Department of Public Safety late Wednesday released new video of the cars, which appear to be a Chevy Trailblazer SUV and a sedan. Police said they hope to identify and interview the occupants.

NO. I just this morning was thinking how upbeat an LE officer seemed and thought maybe, just maybe they would find this girl alive.

I’ll have to listen to the presser again. I only remember that they said they had found her. Nothing about where, specifically. And the bit about the deceased male was vague as well. He could have been near her, or he could have been on the other side of the neighborhood.

The feed I was watching did cut out for about 5-10 seconds so maybe I missed some detail?

I just watched the presser a bit ago. It was in her neighborhood or that neighborhood anyhow, and in the course, it sounded like, of looking for her, they came across him. They also assured the neighborhood they did not need to be concerned about their safety. I am guessing it is the perp and they are pretty sure it is but can't say so until they confirm it?

Some of that info came out after the presser, so it could be rumor and the media went with it, which happens a lot, without even trying to verify, just get it out first.

Authorities said her body was found, along with a deceased male, in the Churchhill Heights neighborhood of Cayce, South Carolina. Police have not yet announced the identity of the male or said if the two deaths are connected.


Authorities confirmed on Thursday that they did tow multiple vehicles from the family's property. They would not go into detail regarding this action, saying it could possibly hurt the investigation.

A constant police presence had been at the family's home since 5 p.m. Monday.
