Police closed sex abuse probe of kidnapping suspect last month

The suspect in the kidnapping of a 9-year-old girl from a state park campground last week had been the subject of a recent State Police investigation into allegations that he had sexually abused a female family acquaintance when she was about 12 years old.

The incident was alleged to have occurred more than a year ago, but the complaint against 46-year-old Craig N. Ross Jr. was filed this summer. State Police closed that investigation last month without filing any charges against Ross, who had denied the girl’s allegations, according to three sources briefed on the investigation.

The new information about Ross comes amid scrutiny of the actions of a state trooper who was guarding the residence of the 9-year-old girl’s family when the suspect in her abduction dropped off a ransom note before dawn on Monday — and then drove away in his pickup truck without being stopped, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

Those sources said there has been no allegation that the trooper mishandled the incident, but the agency is examining whether Ross, who has been charged with first-degree kidnapping, should have been arrested at that moment. The ransom note allegedly asked for $50,000 and Ross may have made the girl write it, according to another source briefed on the investigation.

At the news conference, neither the governor nor State Police officials explained why if the trooper at the house observed Ross putting a note in the mailbox that he didn’t pursue and stop his truck. The ransom note would have provided enough evidence to take Ross immediately into custody, police sources said.

It’s unclear what unfolded with Ross during the 14 hours that elapsed between the ransom note being dropped off and his arrest. Although he has been charged with first-degree kidnapping and is being held in Saratoga County jail, the investigation is continuing and focused on trying to confirm as many details of his planning and actions both before and after the alleged abduction.

If she wasn't with him at that time, they might have not found her if they had stopped him then. This might have worked for the better in the long run.

EXCLUSIVE: C. S.'s suspected kidnapper Craig Ross was previously arrested for trying to strangle his girlfriend in Corinth, New York in 2017

C. S.'s suspected kidnapper Craig Ross was previously arrested for strangling his girlfriend to near unconsciousness, DailyMail.com can reveal.

Hulking Ross, 47, had been living with his then-partner in April 2017 when he grabbed her by the neck and threw her across the room of the property they shared in Corinth, New York.

According to court documents obtained by DailyMail.com, Ross squeezed her neck 'so hard she couldn't breathe', only stopping when she fell to her knees.

Court documents from the April 21, 2017 incident detail how the woman, who DailyMail.com has decided not to identify, escaped Ross's clutches by 'twisting and turning', before he threw her glasses at her in a fit of rage outside of the $127,000 property.

Ross ultimately pleaded guilty to second-degree harassment in the case, after initially being charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.

He was also issued a restraining order against his former partner and fined $50.

Time-lapse video shows Charlotte Sena suspect's possible route home as cops seek home security footage

Authorities have revealed a potentially winding route home that suspected kidnapper Craig Nelson Ross Jr. may have taken from Lake Moreau State Park Saturday after allegedly abducting 9-year-old C. S. off her bike from the campground.

The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who lives along a series of roads in the area to contact investigators if their home security cameras recorded video between 6:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. on Sept. 30 as authorities continue to investigate the kidnapping.

Time-lapse video, based on the streets authorities identified, shows an approximation of the suspect's potential route to his mother's property in Ballston Spa.

The areas of interest are as follows:
  • Old Saratoga Road in the Town of Moreau
  • Route 9, south of Old Saratoga Round in the Towns of Moreau and Wilton

Normally yes. But in this case they would have been able to identify him and track her down, I think.
What would have been horrible is if they hadn't been able to pull a print... Got lucky.

But we don't know if she was at his place at that point. He very welk could have had her stashed somewhere else at that moment. Most likely she was, but we just don't know and they are still looking for camera footage for some reason. That makes me wonder if there were multiple locations where she was held.

New York police were hunting C. S. suspect vehicle hours before fingerprints came back

New York police were armed with a suspect vehicle description hours before crime lab results led them to name Craig Ross Jr. as the man suspected of kidnapping 9-year-old C. S. off her bicycle on a park trail Saturday, according to authorities.

They were watching her parents' house when a sketchy driver pulled up and slipped something into their mailbox. It wasn't the first vehicle to pass that night, with intense media coverage of her Saturday evening disappearance and an outpouring of support for the family.

But it stood out to the trooper standing guard, authorities told Fox News Digital.

"One particular vehicle that had slowed and stopped briefly looked suspicious to the trooper," said Stephanie O'Neil, a New York State Police public information officer.

So after the coast was clear, the trooper went in to take a closer look.

"Upon finding the letter, they immediately communicated the vehicle’s description to the non-commissioned officer in charge, and a ‘be on the lookout’ (BOLO) was issued to all surrounding patrols," O'Neil told Fox New Digital.

So it sounds like the guy watching the house was there at the home, just not AT the mailbox. They sure were making it sound like they had taken off for something else and left the place unattended.

He looks like a creeper. Ugh.

I have to say while it would normally be hard to believe **** didn't show up for no reason, I read that and read it again before your further posts on it and thought there is no swear word that fits in that spot or sentence, I couldn't make one fit nor have I ever seen you use one in a sentence structure like that or hardly ever where there ends up **. Maybe your phone inserted it lol?
I figured it out! My phone wants to keep changing the word "about" to the s word. HUH???? How is that even close? And they call it a smart phone!

The other day it changed a word that wasn't even close either. I don't remember the word. It wasn't a swear word. But the word started with the letter A-Z.

@Guess Who. IKR. It replaces it with a word that doesn't make sense. How about it checking if the sentence makes sense.
I noticed when i was texting somebody and at least caught it before i sent it because i was adding more detail to something I had already typed, then it did it again! Same word! Except my phone doesn't censor it :teehee:

Kidnap suspect Craig Ross Jr. faces scrutiny in cold cases: report

The suspect in the kidnapping of a 9-year-old New York girl is being scrutinized for any possible connection to two killings in the early 2000s, according to local media.

Police are investigating whether Craig Ross Jr. has any involvement in the deaths of 18-year-old Jennifer “Moonbeam” Hammond and 19-year-old Christina N. White, the Albany Times Union reported. The girls disappeared in 2003 and 2005, and their skeletal remains were found in Lake Desolation State Forest, some 10 miles from where they went missing in Milton, N.Y., where Ross lives.

Saratoga County Sheriff’s Investigator Matthew Robinson, the lead investigator on the women’s unsolved homicides, told the Times Union: “At this time, we have no information to indicate that he was or was not involved.”

“I can tell you that one of the investigative steps that we will take with regards to the ongoing investigation around Mr. Ross will be any association he has with any major case in the area,” Robinson added. “And that is something that we are actively working on. But at this time, we have no information to indicate that he is involved in any of those (two) cases.”

They definitely need to look into it at the very least

Do you mean the one on the bike? I assume? Because her name is still in the thread title. How do you handle that, i honestly don't know., just change it to age and girl missing from morneau state park? Just asking because I don't know and survived and has a life ahead of her that turns out well hopefully so should name come off there too?

I honestly don't know so just asking and pointing out in case it should be.
