The Jacksonville Police Department is searching for missing 6-year-old Amari Gabriel Christiansen. Police say he was abducted.

Christiansen is a Black male, approximately 4 feet tall, weighing 80 pounds. He has black hair, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black long sleeve shirt with “game on”, blue sweatpants with sharks, a navy blue jacket and black sneakers. He was in possession of a power ranger backpack and lunch box with Minecraft or Paw Patrol.

He was also in possession of a Power Rangers backpack and either a Minecraft or Paw Patrol lunchbox.

Search crews from at least seven different departments met at Northeast Creek Park early Friday and were sent out around 8 a.m. WITN’s Deric Rush is on the scene and says police have set up a perimeter around the Holiday City mobile home complex.

A helicopter and K-9 units are also assisting in the search. Officials say they are not allowing volunteers to come out and search at the moment.

FBI assisting in search for missing Jacksonville child​

Federal agents are assisting with the search for a missing 6-year-old Jacksonville child.

A statewide Amber Alert was issued Thursday evening for 6-year-old Amari Christiansen. Jacksonville police say he was last seen near the Holiday City mobile home park on Corbin Road around 5:45 p.m.

Search crews from at least seven different departments met at Northeast Creek Park early Friday and were sent out around 8 a.m. WITN’s Deric Rush is on the scene and says police have set up a perimeter around the Holiday City mobile home complex.

Christiansen got off his school bus around 4:00 p.m. Thursday and was last seen around 5:45 p.m. at the mobile home park.

A helicopter and K-9 units are also assisting in the search.

The chief said they have searched the mobile home park, and will probably widen the search area later this afternoon. The FBI has agents and analysts who specialize in missing children assisting Jacksonville police.

Police are asking people that may have sheds or empty homes in the area to check them as the child may have stayed there overnight. “Someone in this community has seen something,” said the chief.

“We’ll continue to treat it as a suspicious incident. But, we have no evidence to think it’s, we have no evidence at this time. Again we’re going to treat it as a possible abduction just because we don’t know what happened.”

Police said they have found Amari Christiansen, a six-year-old boy who has been missing for nearly a day.

Jacksonville police said the child was found a block from his home. Chief Mike Yaniero said the six-year-old was asleep under a mobile home, woke up and came out. He said at that point a member of the community saw the child and called police.

Yaniero said Christiansen is in good health and is undergoing an evaluation from EMS. The chief said once that is completed he will go home to his parents.

“When a child goes missing it devastates a community. This is the best outcome we could have had,” said the chief. “We are thankful that we have a community that comes together.”
