Tulsa County deputies looking for 'person of interest' in missing trio case

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office is looking for three people in what they're calling a "bizarre" missing persons case.

The sheriff's office issued a Silver Alert on Tuesday for 76-year-old Jack Grimes. They're also looking for his friend 59-year-old Dwayne Selby.

The two friends were last seen Friday heading to a horse show in Texas but were supposed to be back in Turley on Monday.

Family members say the two men were seen eating at a cafe in Purcell around 6:30 Friday night, but the friend who had their tickets to the horse show in Fort Worth says they never showed up.

They were driving Grimes's 2001 maroon 4-door Ford Taurus with Oklahoma tag ETW-614.

Family members say Selby's mother, 80-year-old Glenda Parton went to search for her son in Turley on Monday night and hasn't been seen since.

Deputies say her car, a red Kia Rio, was found on the side of Highway 75 near 56th Street North on Tuesday afternoon.

The Pryor Creek Police Department issued a Silver Alert for Parton.

The sheriff's office announced Wednesday afternoon that they were looking for a "person of interest" in the case.

They released a photo of a man Parton met with at a local business Monday evening before she went missing.

The man pictured has dark hair and was wearing a camo baseball cap, gray jacket, blue jeans and dark-colored shoes.

I am baffled by the horse show part in that they were traveling in a Ford Taurus! If they were buying a horse/horses, they would be in a truck and trailer!
True, never thought of that. It could be a horse "show" meaning I don't know like riding, barrel racing, that kind of thing? Maybe going to see someone compete? Grandchild, friend, etc. It did say there were "tickets".

Or maybe you bid, pay and then arrange transport based on how many horses you bought, etc...

not necessarily. I've seen some buy and the seller delivers on occasion. By looking at the pic of the guys, maybe they were selling gear? That wouldn't necessarily need a truck. Just options.

Three people missing for a week leaves investigators worried, family provides details
Three people are still missing tonight from the Turley area.

It's now been a week since 59-year-old Dwayne Selby and 76-year-old Jack Grimes have been seen or heard from.

Selby's mother, 80-year-old Glenda "Cookie" Parton, also has been missing since Monday.

Tulsa County Sheriff's Office Director of Communications, Casey Roebuck, said investigators are continuing to vet tips, interview folks and search.

"So far we still don't have any definitive answers. Multiple theories that we're working on but so far, no one has been ruled out, no motive has been ruled out," Roebuck said. "We're still open to all possibilities in this case as to what happened to these three people and who may be responsible for it."

Since the start of the week, the Sheriff's Office has located Parton's car on Hwy 75 near the 56 Street N exit.

Carol Selby, relative of Dwayne and Parton, said it was odd.

"To me, if someone left the keys in her car just sitting on the highway, that's just suspicious," Carol Selby said.

The car Dwayne Selby and Jack Grimes should've taken to a horse show in Fort Worth was also found in Mohawk Park.

Carol Selby told NewsChannel 8 Selby and Grimes had traveled to horse shows together, "hundreds of times."

"They have been companions for 19 years," Carol Selby said. "They go to Colorado, they go to Texas, they go to Texas a lot, I know they've been to Tennessee. They go to a lot of places."

With the cars now found, it allows investigators to narrow the search.

"So that told us we need to concentrate here in Tulsa County," Roebuck said. "Keep looking for evidence and leads here. Which actually is very helpful. It is a big piece of the puzzle."

This is so strange. I'm trying to think in different directions. We have a man in a business with his mother and apparently he rode with her. They were looking for him, found him and nothing further has been said. He could have something to do with it but they just don't have anything on him or perhaps he has nothing to do with it but we know he was with the mother and they were looking for him.

I guess my next thought would be is there someone in the family of one of them that would have any kind of motive. Mother and son at least are wo generations of one family, not sure if the third man is related in any way. Money and assets are often a motive and a family member may be well trusted or also go along to help look for the others, etc. This is not an accusation as we don't know anything of the family, could be cousins, children, stepchildren, uncles, just speculating on a motive.

They go to horse shows, the other man was a ranch hand, this leads me to think this "family" had a ranch and perhaps it is family owned or just owned by one of the three. I guess the horse show and the man in a business with the mother sends me down the thought of a money motive...

The mother, to just pull over and disappear and leave her keys, seems quite odd no? Can we be sure no one was traveling with her or with the men for that matter? Or I guess even following her to help look for the men or some such...

Like in all cases, we don't know even basic facts like family make-up....

Or overall plans... Could the men have met someone in the park to follow them to a horse show or even to ride with? Their older vehicle likely would not have GPS. It has been said they had been to TX before to horse shows but maybe not this particular area or something...

Here is where I come to though--with three missing and two different incidents, it seems like this had to be someone who knew the plans of all and was eiither with, followed or met them. To me, that is someone close to home or involved in their daily life.

My second thought is this ranch hand had the mother under control and sent her in a business to get money with a credit/debit card or it was a bank, etc. He perhaps had her son and the other guy under control or took them somewhere and this was his leverage over her. He took the money and ran, she went to find or get her son and the other man but he took her out then as well or did something to her... There are flaws with this, still trying to work it in my head...

Anyhow, I can't believe they haven't found at least one of these three yet... I guess the mother could be just a coincidence... Maybe she wandered off...? She is 80 isn't she? Between stress of her son missing and age... Maybe there is no connection and it is just coincidence she went missing too but that's a tough one to believe...

It crossed my mind that she would pull over for a cop but if so there would be a record of it and/or she would be in jail and they would know it. I think that highly unlikely so I let go of that theory.

it's still something small enough that if they were selling them at horse shows, they could save quite a bit of money taking a car instead of a truck on a long road trip.
Yeah if they were selling bridles that makes sense. Even at horse shows where they’re not selling stock, there will still be vendors outside. My mom used to sell her western artwork that way.

The American Royal is going on here now and when I go see my mom where she is now, the way I go in during rush hour is to bail off the highway and go right past where the AR is. I've got to see some cool stuff being brought in since the road I take is where the vendors park to get their product inside. Quite a few in cars.

They can't tell who it is and yet the family of the three are sure it is not any of those three? I guess because of belongings found.

That is a fairly short period of time for remains to be that bad.

Sunday’s remains near Turley identified as 76-year-old Jack Grimes

Tulsa County Sheriff’s Vic Regaldo confirmed Tuesday that remains found near Turley are those of Jack Grimes. TCSO is investigating this as a homicide.

The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office will held a news conference at 10:30 am Tuesday after identifying the remains found in Turley Sunday.

Sheriff Regalado asked that people keep their theories off social media saying it damages their case and impacts the families involved.

We told you four people disappeared close to the same area where the remains were found in Turley.

Here’s what we know:

Shannon Miller was last seen on Oct. 19th. His car was found abandoned on 106th Street North on the bridge over Bird Creek, which is near North Lewis.

Dwayne Selby and Jack Grimes were supposed to leave for a horse show in Fort Worth Oct. 22nd and never arrived. Their home is near 56th Street North and Lewis and their car was found abandoned at Mohawk Park.

Glenda (Cookie) Parton was last heard from Oct. 25th. She is Selby’s mom. She disappeared when she came to Turley to look for her son. Her car was found abandoned along Highway 75 near the 56th Street North exit.

Deer hunters found human remains in a field near 61st Street North and Lewis on Sunday. Deputies say animals had scattered the remains, so they weren’t able to identify who the remains belonged to. Deputies say they could belong to any of these 4 missing people, or someone else. Right now, we are waiting on the medical examiner to determine that.

Miller doesn’t appear to know the other three. Deputies say people should not panic or be afraid of the area, but they do want people to be aware of the situation.
