The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the ongoing search for a missing/endangered 11-year-old Colorado Springs boy who went missing Monday afternoon, and the task force investigating his disappearance is organizing a team of volunteers to start searching for him.

Gannon Stauch was believed to be a runaway after he left his home southeast of Colorado Springs between 3:15 and 4 p.m. on Monday. But as the week progressed, his disappearance was upgraded to a missing/endangered person case.

His stepmother said he left his home on foot to play at a friend’s house down the street on Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies and major crimes detectives had taken “extraordinary steps” to locate the boy, the sheriff’s office said. They were actively searching for evidence and taking witness statements, a sheriff’s office news release issued earlier this week read.

“He’s very young, it’s dark and cold outside and we want to bring Gannon to safety,” the sheriff’s said in a Facebook post earlier this week.

On Thursday afternoon, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and other task force members, as well as Stauch’s parents, hosted a news conference to update the community on his disappearance, discuss the steps being taken in the investigation, and to notify people in the area that they are organizing volunteers to begin a community search effort in coming days.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mitch Mahalko said the sheriff’s office received the investigation on Tuesday afternoon and started doing interviews and collecting video surveillance and talking to neighbors, working to collect new leads.

He said that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and FBI got involved after the case was upgraded to a missing/endangered child case. The FBI’s team specializes in search and rescue and “will be a good partner” in the investigation, Mahalko said.

He said the investigation was active and that authorities were conducting interviews with witnesses and collecting evidence – exhausting every lead they receive.

Mahalko said investigators were looking at “persons of interest” in the case as people who might be able to give them additional information on Stauch’s whereabouts.

He declined to say where authorities had been searching but confirmed that investigators had been in contact with some trash companies in El Paso County and in the Lorson Ranch area.

Kirby stressed that people with tips should report them to their tip line – 719-520-6666 – and not on social media because any tips sent to the sheriff’s office on social media will not be considered.

I was just watching something on this this morning as well. So she is going ahead and doing it. Well, we know it shall be interesting... She believes she has two pieces of evidence that will clear her, she may have something but I doubt they will clear her. They probably if I had to guess relate to the time line and her whereabouts. Who knows though, it could be something from Eguardo.... Half sarcasm...

Paper copies of 1,800 pages of discovery must be provided to Letecia Stauch in jail

Letecia Stauch's next hearing was delayed until May to allow for her to go over all of the discovery in the case now that she is representing herself in the trial.

During Friday's hearing, a judge granted a motion to redact the personal information of some witnesses in discovery before Letecia Stauch has access to it. Once that information is property redacted on the nearly 1,800 pages, the judge said a paper copy of 1,800 pages must be delivered to Stauch at the jail.

The ruling came after Stauch complained to the judge that she was granted access to the law library at the jail only a few hours a week which is where she would need to go to access those documents electronically.

Despite the judge saying (paraphrasing here) that her representing herself was not going to delay these proceedings and trial, etc., it is already happening and I am not surprised. Changing attorneys does this quite often too as the new one needs time to get up to speed on the case and in effect that is what she did here, change attorneys. Jmo.

I wonder if she will get tired of all this work or if she gets a kick out of it. 😤
I think she is the type to get a kick out of it and fancies herself smarter than most. I think though she will likely fall on her face in the long run and not be effective on her own behalf.

I think if I would be keeping myself safe if I was in those documents, personal info redacted or not, and she sees who said what or provided what against her... She seems the type I could see doing a "hit" list like Frazee had... Of course, much of this info she should have already known from her attorneys but she claimed they could not have adequate communication due to jail rules, Covid, etc.

Jmo.

so there will probably be another delay when she decides to not be her own attorney

Oh I cannot wait to see the esteemed Dr T as she becomes a self made lawyer. She is such a "pilar" of the community, standing so tall like our ragged flag in battle.

Oh please let them televise this. I cannot wait to see what further bits of wisdom come from Dr T. She is gonna make it into the Book of Legends - the batshit crazy beeches volume.

She already is lost imo. She does not even know anything you send to the court or a judge needs to also go to the other side, it is not the judge's job nor the court's to do that for you and you cannot privately correspond with the judge or court. I am no expert by any means but I know that one. And i am not a Dr. LOL.

The thing is it is going to cause issues and more problems and imo be much harder on those who loved Gannon.

I do agree though it will be entertaining on the other side of the coin. I imagine she can subpoena and all sorts of things now. I wonder if she will call the imaginary Eguardo...

Letecia Stauch explains why she wants to defend herself in unsealed letter to judge

Newly-unsealed documents have shed more light on why a woman accused of killing her stepson requested to represent herself in court.

According to a report from WMBF sister station KKTV, the letter from Letecia Stauch to a judge dated Feb. 21, 2021, was unsealed Wednesday.

In it, Stauch details issues of privacy and said one of the main issues with her attorneys was “their lack of ability to gather evidence.”

She also described communication as being “broken beyond repair” and claimed the defense team was texting her family with information, causing several disputes.

A judge allowed Stauch to represent herself during a hearing in February, with Stauch insisting that she had an “ace in the hole” along with “two pieces of evidence would completely prove her innocence.”

Typical letter of hers or so it seems. Pointing out mental issues even though declared competent. I will say though, even though no fan of hers, that IF her defense is sharing things with family that she wants held private per attorney/client confidentiality, that is wrong imo. Her attorneys also are to represent her even though in any cases with public defenders there is the weird thing that both sides in a way work for the State. It is a longstanding issue that many say is not entirely fair. Public defenders are appointed by and paid by the State I believe and the prosecutor of course works for the State. Also, if she has mental health records she wanted accessed and they were not, I don't like saying so but they should have been imo obtained and provided for any eval, etc.

Even so, she may just misunderstand in some of these cases AND much of the letter seems her usual smoke and mirrors. While I don't like saying so, she should have adequate counsel if only to avoid the chance of winning on any appeal later on.

I don't think she means "biological". I'm pretty sure she is claiming that Gannon was her son and needed to speak with his dad. I could be missing something though.

Correction... i do see where she states bio son and step son
Yes, I thought the same as you first said here. Until I read the entire thing, then I noted she clearly stated bio more than once and step son. Is she making this up or does she have some son all were unaware of?
