BOLO: Alabama Mom Allegedly Says 3-Year-Old Girl ‘Disappeared Mysteriously’ from Bedroom

Police in Alabama are seeking tips on a missing 3-year-old girl, reported missing out of Enterprise.

According to the Enterprise Police Department, Genises Nova Reid was last seen at 201 Apache Drive. The exact day she disappeared is currently unclear.

WFSA reports that neighbors said that they have not seen Genises since early January. Multiple sources reportedly said that law enforcement is questioning the mother’s story; she claimed that Genesis “disappeared mysteriously” from a bedroom.

A missing persons flyer shared by Enterprise police indicated that her parents said their door had been opened and that they couldn’t locate the child.

It’s unclear which door at their residence had been found opened.

Enterprise Police Ask Public for Help in Search for Missing 3-Year-Old

The Enterprise Police Department continues searching for a missing 3-year-old girl and is now asking the public for additional help.

Genesis Nova Reid was reported missing early Monday morning after she was discovered gone from her bed. Police say the door to the home in the 200 block of Apache Drive was found open.

Genesis is described as a Black female, 2 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 30 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing pink Minnie Mouse pajamas, including both a top and bottoms. Her direction of travel remains unknown.

In an update, Captain Haglund with Enterprise Police told WDNews, “We are asking for anyone in the public, who has seen Genesis, in the last 30 to 45 days to report the information to the police.”

Immediately, last seen at 8 pm, discovered missing at 3 am with the door found open...I'm wondering what time the 911 call was made or how long they "searched" before calling.
I wouldn't necessarily take the neighbors comments at face value right away, but the fact that LE is already asking anyone who has seen her in the last 30-45 days to come forward is...concerning.

Searchers spent the day looking for the little girl as neighbors said they had not seen Genises for weeks. FBI agents arrived at the scene about 3:00 this afternoon, News4’s Jacklynn Lambert reported.

Along with police, the missing girl’s grandmother pleaded for her safe return.

“I don’t care what state, what county, please call the police. She was not given willingly. Please contact us via messenger, Facebook, whatever. Please contact me,” Vivienne Reid told WTVY News 4.

here we go again.
when was the last time grandmother saw her?
Good question. Did she see her regularly.

I'd also like to know if the neighbors were used to seeing her daily, weekly, etc. that they thought it odd after a few weeks...? At 3, she wasn't going to school but maybe outside playing? It is AL and weather has already been warm apparently.

I also note they say questioning mom's story but then it says parents said, etc. in plural. It's neighbors that say LE is questioning mom's story right? LE did not say it. I just wonder because did neighbors think something about mom more so that both parents...?

And i wonder if either is a step or significant other rather than a bio parent. It's not uncommon to not hear that right away.

Police don’t dispel speculation that mother lied about missing daughter

Police did little to dispel speculation that a woman may have lied to police when she told them her 2-year-old child (corrected from 3-years-old) went missing from her home early Monday.

While officers stopped well short of publicly disputing her story, they specifically wanted to hear from anyone who may have seen Genesis Reid within the past 30 days.

That seems significant with neighbors saying they had not seen the toddler for several weeks. One person said he casually asked Adrienne Reid about her daughter on Saturday, she evaded the question.

There was another indication that investigators may be suspicious of Adrienne Reid’s account when reporters asked police if they encouraged public searches for the girl.

“I don’t think we’re at a point right now to have mass search parties,” Enterprise Police Capt. Billy Haglund said in response to a reporter’s question.

In contrast, when a young boy was missing in Enterprise several weeks ago, dozens of people joined the search. He was found safe.

Despite speculation, Coffee County District Attorney James Tarbox said the No. 1 objective is to find Genesis, though he also alluded that there could be more to the story.

Coffee County Sheriff Scott Byrd pledged his department’s unrelenting cooperation to solve this mysterious case, including the use of its helicopter.

Authorities first reported Genesis age as 3, but later amended her age to 2, with her third birthday next month.

Also, her name in public identifying documents, is listed as Genesis, not Genesis as is on the wanted poster.

Genesis was wrong and it's Genesis? Huh? That really makes sense. Not.

I also don't think it's odd not to want mass public searchers. That's getting to be quite common these days as searchers can trample evidence and cause other issues as they are untrained.

However, I do think the parents' story stinks and as is the norm in these cases, that I want to know the last time anyone outside of that household saw her. That we have not heard.

Speculation looms in case of missing Enterprise toddler

Enterprise Police are asking the public to come forward if they have seen a missing toddler within the past 30 days.

Genesis Reid, 2, was reported missing by her mother on Monday, although police are reaching out for clues as to when the child was last spotted in public.

WTVY News 4 reported police did not confirm if the girl's mother, Adrienne Reid, lied about when her daughter disappeared, but they did not dispel speculation on the matter, either. Neighbors told the outlet they haven't seen the child for several weeks.

Adding to suspicion, police said they are not at a point to have mass searches for the girl.

The search for Genesis. What we know this morning.

After a trying day investigators speaking in an unofficial capacity went into the second day feeling confident, they would have answers soon.

The last formal police statement came at midafternoon on Monday, but it revealed little new information about the 2-year-old Genesis Reid.

In fact, officers said more by what they did not say.

Captain Billy Haglund looked disheveled, wearing a dirty shirt, apologetic about his appearance after a long day of searching for Genesis.

He thanked the public for tips they passed on to authorities and pleaded for more information that could help unravel the mystery after claims that the little girl got out of her bed and walked out of her home early Monday.

Haglund essentially said investigators were not buying that story, declined to solicit public search parties and said they would be looking in specific places, which also certainly meant officers had more information than they shared to the public.

They also had Genesis’ mother, Adrienne Reid, at police headquarters for questioning. It was not clear if they released her Monday night.

Not once did Haglund, District Attorney James Tarbox or Coffee County Sheriff Scott Byrd say anything to squelch claims by neighbors that it had been weeks since they had seen Genesis, whom they described as outgoing little girl.

Hagland seemed to confirm their claims by saying they wanted to hear from anyone who had seen Genesis in the past 30 days.

He insisted that relatives had been contacted but made no mention of any of them being suspects in this grueling case. However, he did not say the same thing about the m issing girl’s mother.

New name emerges in missing girl investigation

Police are searching for a woman named Mariah who may frequent the Level Plains area and who may be able to shed light on what happened to a missing 2-year-old girl from Enterprise.

Enterprise Police Chief Michael Moore revealed the name Tuesday morning during a press conference, telling reporters that Genesis Reid’s mother mentioned the name to officers investigating her daughter’s disappearance.

He said she may frequent Level, a Level Plains bar and has ties to Ozark. Police say she is a black female.

Moore also confirmed that the missing girl’s mother, Adrienne Reid, is detained, though he said it was in part to keep her safe. She has not been charged with a crime, Moore said.

Officers are searching for the missing girl for a second day, with a request that the public stay away. Coffee County District Attorney James Tarbox said that will protect the integrity of the investigation.

Moore asked that sightseers stay away and only those cleared by police search.

Adrienne Reid told police she found her toddler, who would turn 3 next month, missing from her bed and a door leading out of their home open early Monday.

Neighbors said they hadn’t seen Genesis in weeks, saying that before January they frequently saw her walking around the neighborhood with her mother.

Mariah = Zanny the nanny???

Enterprise police charge missing girl’s mother with false reporting

Enterprise police charged the mother of a missing toddler with false reporting to law enforcement this afternoon.

Adrienne Reid is held without bond on the Class C felony, which may indicate she is suspected of foul play in the case. Routinely, Class C allegations have lower bonds.

Enterprise Police Chief Michael Moore said the search of 2-year-old Genesis Reid continues in earnest and he renewed pleas for public information.

Moore also expressed frustration about social media posts that he said are putting out false and speculative information.

Mother of missing Enterprise girl facing charges

Enterprise Police Chief Michael Moore says investigators determined that Reid lied about her daughter’s disappearance.

“We know through the investigation over the last 24 hours that her story is false, and now we have to focus on how to find Genises and bring her home,” Chief Moore said.

Police detained Reid on Tuesday morning for questioning several hours before announcing the formal charges.

Chief Moore also asked for help finding a woman named Mariah, whom police say Reid identified as a family friend. However, the chief says Reid gave little to no information on Mariah’s details or where she could be found.

Mariah is a person of interest but is not a suspect at this time.

“We just want to talk to her,” Chief Moore said regarding Mariah.

A large group of law enforcement officers from multiple agencies searched the wooded areas around the Meadowbrook Apartments on Apache Drive for several hours on Tuesday morning. They are looking for any signs of Genises.

Mother of missing Enterprise toddler charged with false reporting as search continues

Genesis Reid was reported missing at 3:10 a.m. Feb. 16, when her mother, Adrienne Reid, told police the toddler had walked out the front door of their apartment on Apache Drive, according to the Enterprise Police Department.

An initial search of the area turned up no leads. As the investigation continued, detectives identified inconsistencies in the mother’s account and became concerned that the report that Genesis left the apartment early Monday was false.

Police said they do not have a confirmed date when Genesis was last seen, but have verified at least one sighting within the past 30 days.

Through their continued investigation, police developed enough probable cause to arrest Adrienne Reid on a charge of making a false report to law enforcement alleging imminent danger, a Class C felony under Alabama law

Reid had not yet been granted bond as of 4 p.m. Tuesday. Police said they planned to ask a judge to set a bond higher than the standard amount for a Class C felony, citing the status of the investigation and additional facts uncovered, though they declined to provide details

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshals Service, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Coffee County Sheriff's Office and multiple other agencies are assisting in the ongoing investigation. The child’s father, grandmother and other relatives have been cooperative, officials said.

Investigators also identified a woman named Moriah as a person of interest, though not a suspect. Police said they are seeking to speak with her and asked anyone who knows her to come forward. However, police stressed that Moriah’s name emerged from information provided by Adrienne and that detectives are working to verify details independently.

"This is the beginning of a long investigation, and the agencies involved and our community will not rest until Genesis returns home," said Moore.
