SPENCER & MONIQUE TEPE: Columbus, Ohio dentist and wife murdered - 30 Dec 2025 *ARREST* (8 Viewers)

I'm thinking there was some kind of drama going on with her and the ex and his practice knew about it and why they sounded the alarm so quickly.

Well allegedly she was scared of him and I think back to the owner saying it was almost more worrisome that she hadn't answered and looking back on that, it does seem like they could have known there were some issues going on there.

Scuttlebutt also is that even the divorce has been final for years, there was something going on yet with property division and some filing in 2025 which after apparently was stricken from the record...

Rumor has it he made sure the kids were safe. I heard this speculation before the arrest by an ex LE or some such. Makes one wonder if some had a source or connections because now that is being said a lot, ,still rumor though as far as I know. I take it as locked in a room or some such. Also not sure how you do that.

Not sure why he'd make sure of that but thank God the kids were okay.

IF the last time frame LE gave is when he was seen coming and going, then he had a lot of time in that house. The window was 2 to 5 a.m.

Also scuttlebutt has it that he had an alibi that was later proven false.

This is so odd. Just have to say. Marriage was a long time ago. They never had kids. Short term marriage. Did hear she was afraid of him and the family had to help keep him away from her but still, it was a long time ago the marriage. And a vascular surgeon. It isn't like they had kids together (they didn't) so there were no support or custody issues, etc. Very unusual imo.
My first reaction was how unusual, too! I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a case quite like it.

Yeah I think the divorce was final in 2017 if I recall. And they married in 2015 I think I heard today so two years, I had thought it was three, but they were supposedly only together like seven months in marriage anyhow. So 8, 9 years ago! I'll admit I put him aside as a possible suspect in my head. I even saw a headline, did not watch it because I thought very unlikely it is him, about his family or hers or some such had to protect her from him and I took it to mean BACK WHEN they did...

How is it that someone who can commit to as many years as it takes of school to become a vascular surgeon could be this stupid in life even probably during those years...?? I imagine he finished after they split, not sure. Granted good in your profession or in school or committed may not be the same as relationships but as some have pointed out, he was a surgeon, he wouldn't have had any problem getting another woman at some point. I did hear he IS remarried but that was a comment so no reason to think that is true necessarily. I think he did remarry briefly after her but that also was a comment, I can't verify it.

I think that's part of what is so shocking. It isn't like doctors, even dentists haven't murdered but this is an ex from YEARS ago who he was married to very short term, never had kids with, etc. HIGHLY unusual imo. Of course I don't know if it is known when they started dating, maybe they had for many years, no idea...

The mug shot.

So glad they got the perp. No forced entry. Vehicle details obtained from surveillance video. Good job LE.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — The ex-husband of the woman who, along with her current husband, was shot dead last month has been charged in the killings.
Michael David McKee is now in custody in Illinois.
He's accused of shooting and killing Spencer and Monique Tepe in their Weinland Park home on Dec. 30. Their family members confirmed to ABC 6 on Saturday that McKee is Monique Tepe's ex-husband.

According to court documents, McKee has been charged on two counts of murder "in the deaths of Spencer and Monique Tepe."
The Columbus Police Homicide Unit identified a suspect and a vehicle through neighborhood surveillance. The vehicle was found in Rockford, Ill., with evidence linking McKee to it following the homicides.
Columbus police officers discovered the Tepes in their home on North Fourth Street on Dec. 30 after responding to a wellness check for Spencer Tepe, who failed to show up for work at his dentistry practice in Athens.
"He is always on time, and he would contact us if there were any issues whatsoever," a 911 call made Dec. 30 revealed. "I don't know how else to say this, but we are very, very concerned because this is out of character. And we can't get in touch with his wife, which is probably the more concerning thing."
Spencer was shot multiple times, while Monique suffered at least one gunshot wound to the chest. The Tepes' children, ages 4 and 1, were found unharmed inside the home.

Columbus Police said there were no signs of forced entry, and no gun was found nearby.
Spencer, a dentist, and Monique, a stay-at-home mom, were described as loving parents to their two young children.
ABC 6 reported Friday that a private memorial service is scheduled to take place Sunday.

ABC 6 went to the couple's address on Saturday and saw a growing memorial of teddy bears and flowers on the front steps. Neighbors who did not want to go on camera told ABC 6 they are devastated by this tragedy.
Columbus Police have not yet released a motive in this case, sharing on social media, "We do not want to compromise the active and ongoing case progress and additional information will be released when appropriate."
Rob Misleh, Spencer Tepe's brother-in-law, just released a family statement to ABC 6, reading:
"Today’s arrest represents an important step toward justice for Monique and Spencer. Nothing can undo the devastating loss of two lives taken too soon, but we are grateful to the City of Columbus Police Department, its investigators, and assisting law enforcement community whose tireless efforts helped to capture the person involved.
We thank the community for the continued support, prayers, and compassion shown throughout this tragedy. As the case proceeds, we trust the justice system to hold the person responsible fully accountable.
Monique and Spencer remain at the center of our hearts, and we carry forward their love as we surround and protect the two children they leave behind. We will continue to honor their lives and the light they brought into this world."

McKee will have an extradition hearing on Monday afternoon, which he could choose to waive, Winnebago County authorities said.

For some reason their divorce proceedings were reopened in 2025. I haven't seen anywhere of why it was or which one had it reopened. The only thing I've ever seen that happen with is when there is something discovered about the hidden assets that weren't claimed in the divorce. Not sure is that's the case here but it would make sense to me that she possibly found something and then he wanted revenge.

I have issues from my divorce yet. Things are ordered that he never took care of. I called my atty. far more than once to see about taking care of it and my atty. never got back to me and I never reached him, I could only leave a message with the assistant each time. Then life interfered and I never have gotten back to it. They are thing that matter too, not like just some trinket or something.

So it does happen...

They were married so briefly though that it's difficult to believe there was much to fight over. I guess though it looked like maybe a big wedding (I only saw the photo, hard to say, but the full dress and veil, etc.) so wedding gifts could be at issue and if someone like either set of parents gave them any major money or something... Not sure if they bought a home together or anything... Again it was brief.

What I heard was that there was something in 2025 but then it shows as stricken from the record or some such...

Did I read there was no forced entry? So the ex had a way of getting in the house? Or were the doors unlocked? Where were their bodies found? I thought it was in the bedroom.

His was in the (or a) bedroom. Never been sure on hers. Not sure on entry either. These are some of my big questions yet. I think he gets arraigned tomorrow if I remember right, well, not sure, he also has to be extradited but I think there is a hearing tomorrow, think it is arraignment but it would be in IL.

Not that it means anything, just some info, background with him, last night in a chat I saw that allegedly he just bought a $400,000 condo overlooking Lake Michigan in Chicago. I don't take much in chats as gospel as is unverified but I wondered. Just watched a short one of Gray's just now and he looked up the address and yeah, an "apartment building" he said overlooking the lake. He also had the arrest warrant I think it was on the screen, well his address anyhow, and so I looked up the address myself. Haven't looked too deep yet but it is called The Pierre and said it has places both for rent and sale so they are salable units it would seem so seems more likely what someone in chat said was true. There was an apartment number too but I didn't look into that, yet anyhow, not sure I will get to it. Maybe they did and it showed a recent sale or something although that still would not show he just bought it, maybe he just sold it, how do they know? Not sure.

Anyhow it was the address put down for him though and here it is if anyone gets a chance to look further. 2100 North Lincoln Park West, Apartment 12DS, Chicago. I may get to it, I may not.

It really doesn't mean anything I guess but I find knowing a bit about the perps interesting. If it was $400K he paid a lot less for a lake view than the Tepes paid for their house at $700K in not the best of areas. And he's a surgeon. Not that that means anything either I guess.

Maybe it just plays in for me in why would you throw your career, your years of school and your new home and life away for a woman you were married briefly to many years before? Just boggles the mind.

Anyhow this isn't particular to his unit which I would assume by the unit # is 12th floor. I didn't have the number handy when I googled it so this does not pertain to the exact unit. I'll try later maybe but if anyone gets a chance in the meantime, address as noted is above in this post.

Locks are only good if they are actually locked. Some of the digital locks (looks like this is what they have by pics)are easy to bypass, too. I've read no sign of forced entry.

Could have also been a window that wasn't locked.

Hmm doesn't look like that unit (not his) overlooks the lake at all, in fact terrible views or none. Does look like the rooftop overlooks the lake though.

Right but he couldn't have known a door would be unlocked or a window OR that he'd have a way to bypass the lock or even what kind of lock unless maybe he'd been there earlier or something. How he got in is a mystery yet at this point.
