Amber Alert: Portage County girl, 6, missing; search focused sex offender

Authorities are continuing to search for a missing 6-year-old girl from Portage County after investigators said she was taken Thursday afternoon by her uncle, a registered sex offender.

Ruby Lehmann was last seen around 3:30 p.m. Thursday at her grandmother’s home on Hwy. D in the village of Almond, according to the Portage County Sheriff’s Department. Initial search efforts involving law enforcement, fire departments and private citizens were suspended after family members informed investigators that Ruby’s uncle, 34-year-old Jordan Coyle, had picked her up and taken her from the residence.

Court records show Coyle was convicted in 2009 of two counts of sexual assault of a child. He was sentenced to three years in prison and was ordered to undergo sex offender treatment. That case was tried in Waushara County.

Portage County Sheriff Mike Lukas said during a Friday afternoon press conference that investigators believe Coyle may still be in the region of Portage, Wood or Waushara counties. The FBI and Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation have joined the case.

Coyle is described as a white man, 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 250 pounds. He has red hair, a beard and mustache, and blue eyes. He is listed on the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry, which identifies his primary address as the same home where Ruby was last seen.

FBI and DOJ join search for missing 6-year-old Portage County girl. Here's what we know.

The Portage County Sheriff's Office and about 20 agents from both the FBI and Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation are searching for a 6-year-old Almond girl who has been missing since the afternoon of Sept. 11.

The Portage County Sheriff's Office issued an Amber Alert Thursday evening for 6-year-old Ruby R. Lehmann who was last seen at her grandmother's home at 1201 Portage County D in Almond, shortly after Ruby arrived home from school Thursday. A pickup, believed to be driven by Ruby's uncle, Jordan A. Coyle, stopped briefly at the house and then left, according to the Sheriff's Office. Ruby hasn't been seen since.

Portage County Sheriff Mike Lukas said in a Sept. 12 press conference that Ruby went missing at 3:39 p.m. Thursday, and the family reported her missing about 4:42 p.m. Multiple fire departments and residents in the Almond area were out searching for Ruby until about 9 p.m.

Ruby's family didn't tell authorities until several hours later that they suspected Coyle had taken her, Lukas said. Ruby and her uncle are known to have a close relationship, Lukas said.

Lukas said both the FBI and the Wisconsin DOJ have promised to provide any assistance the Portage County Sheriff's Office needs during the investigation.

Lukas said they believe Ruby and Coyle are still in the area around Portage, Waushara and Wood counties.

Anyone who sees Ruby or Coyle should immediately call 911 and say it's related to the Amber Alert, Lukas said. A special tip line has been created for anyone with information related to this Amber Alert; call 888-304-3936.

Well I'd say grandma is going down too. He had the same address listed on the registry as she was at with Ruby. Then no one told LE until hours later he had taken her and the family said Ruby and him have a close relationship. They shouldn't have ANY relationship.

Such behavior by family has me wondering about the entire family. A cousin. Now protecting him or trying to at first. Said to have a close relationship with her so he was allowed around her. Same house apparently he resided in. There's something really wrong with this bunch, sounds almost like they are enabling him.

For anyone interested, Grizzly is live with this case and if you miss that, the video will be available. I'm not the biggest fan of her but she is the first and only one I've seen covering this case.

I am hoping they will soon be caught as they have the vehicle details.

This is the actual Amber Alert.

Well he didn't just take her for ice cream or to McDonald's since she is still missing.

The way this family has acted perhaps one of them is hiding and housing him and his vehiclle. I don't really mean that but the thought has crossed my mind...

That vehicle is pretty distinctive and this was an actual Amber Alert.

So is he living there with his mom like his RSO registration shows or somewhere else since it says "he stopped by" at his mom's house? Sure thinking this was his mom's idea to use her address as his now with her not stating she thought her son took her missing granddaughter.

Good news.

PORTAGE COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - UPDATE: Authorities say that the 6-year-old girl who was reported missing on Thursday, activating a statewide AMBER Alert, has been found safe, and the suspect is in custody.
6-year-old Ruby Lehman was found safe on Saturday, 2 days after the AMBER Alert was issued, according to authorities. The suspect, Jordan Coyle, is in custody. Coyle is the girl’s uncle and is a registered sex offender, according to online court records.
No other information has been released

Grandma better be in trouble here, too. I guarantee part of his probation criteria is no contact with minors, if not, then I have a judge to be mad at, too. Did she keep it quiet to his PO that her granddaughter also lived with her? Did he only use her address for PO check ins or did he actually live there? Why, when you call LE to help find that grand daughter, do you not tell them he was there and then left and your granddaughter most likely went with him?

You probably won't hear any more about this case from now on, as they will need to now protect the girl's identity. I also noticed the uncle's sexual offence was when he was 17 so that was 14 years ago - long before she was even born. Hopefully she is unharmed.

BTW I have never known a 6 year old girl to be 4 foot tall. Maybe she is close to 7 years.

It's actually just over the 50th percentile. My oldest was taller than that at that age and younger one was not far under her. Oldest was officially "off the charts" at the 106th percentile for her height and her sister was 98th.

BREAKING: Sheriff schedules press conference after intense search for Almond girl

September 13, 2025
By Brandi Makuski
PORTAGE COUNTY – Law enforcement activity intensified Saturday in the search for 6-year-old Ruby Lehmann, who was reported missing on Sept. 11 from her grandmother’s home in the Village of Almond.
The Amber Alert for Lehmann was canceled shortly before 6 p.m. on Sept. 13, and Ruby is reportedly safe. A suspect is also in custody.
Traffic was blocked for much of the afternoon near the intersection of 3rd Street and County Road J in Almond, where a heavy law enforcement presence was reported most of Saturday afternoon. A Stevens Point SWAT vehicle was also seen by Metro Wire staff heading toward the area via County Highway BB.

Medical crews from Stevens Point and Almond were called to stage on the 6900 block of 3rd Ave. in Almond at 2:14 p.m., and were asked to respond without sirens, though it’s unclear if their services were used.

Portage County Sheriff Mike Lukas said he will hold a press conference at 6:30 p.m. Saturday on the front steps of the Sheriff’s Office, 1500 Strongs Ave., Stevens Point, regarding the abduction. Lukas did not provide any additional information.
The Metro Wire will livestream the press conference via Facebook. A full update will also be posted at spmetrowire.com.

Authorities believe Ruby is with her uncle, 34-year-old Jordan A. Coyle, and traveling in a white 2001 Ford F-250 with Wisconsin license plate WC2249. The truck has a toolbox in the bed and peeling paint on the tailgate that exposes silver beneath.
Ruby is described as about 4 feet tall, 100 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. Coyle is described as 6 feet 3 inches tall, 246 pounds, with red hair, a beard and mustache, and blue eyes.
The Sheriff’s Office is working with the FBI, Wisconsin Department of Justice, Stevens Point and Plover police, and other agencies as the search continues.
Anyone who sees the vehicle or has information about Ruby’s whereabouts is urged to call the Amber Alert tip line at 1-888-304-3936 or dial 911.

How do we know the percentile if we don't know her weight? Or was her weight given too somewhere?

ETA - OK i just saw her weight was given as 100 pounds. That's about 7 stone.
