It was her flatmate's boyfriend in the car - ie Tanika's boyfriend James. I got mixed up.
That makes more sense. Easy thing to do in this case.

She's a minor or here would be for sure, but clearly living not at home and able to fly. I wonder where she got ANY money from or if someone else always gave her a bit. Why didn't she go off and live with the bf and try to make a life for self?

It's just all so odd.

I can't believe they are stupid enough to think any average cop would fall for that plate with a good once over of it. The NSW is very amateurish. All really is.

This is taking place in Queensland so that's why they made it a NSW plate LOL.

Police tape remains in place at the home where Pheobe lived with Bromley and Wood.

Today, officers suspended a search for the missing teenager in the Good Night Scrub National Park, but said the greater Gin Gin area would remain a focus of their investigation.

"Investigations are ongoing and police are continuing to run out several lines of enquiry," police said.

They added that searches would recommence as needed and as more information came to light.

A major land, water and aerial search had been under way at the Good Night Scrub National Park, about 40 kilometres from Gin Gin, since Friday.

Some items believed to be linked to her disappearance were found and taken for forensic examination, but police believe more evidence had been moved from the area before the search began.

Queensland mum begs to know missing teenage daughter's whereabouts

A mother's spirits have dimmed as she admits her missing daughter may not be found alive, as a police investigation drags into a third week.

There has been no sign of the 17-year-old in more than a fortnight and her mother Kylie Johnson is facing the reality that she may not find her daughter alive.

"I still hold hope that Pheobe will come home, but I have to consider the possibility that she also won't," she said in a video statement released by Queensland Police.

"If the worst-case scenario has happened, I at least need to know where she's resting."

The family's lives have been changed for the worse since Pheobe disappeared, Johnson said.

"This is a pain no person or family should ever have to experience," she said.

The teen has been described as a "beautiful, loving and kind person" with every day that passes without knowing her whereabouts weighing heavily on the family.

Johnson begged for anyone with even the smallest amount of information to contact police, as she believes her daughter would not just disappear and someone knows something.

"I know that this investigation isn't over ... it will not be over for me until we find Pheobe," she said.

I wouldn't want to be in mom's shoes for anything but the way it looks she is going to be waiting until charges come or perhaps Pheobe is found and then there is that she may never be.

Maybe the daughter had issues but it is a shame she couldn't have lived at home than with a couple like this.

Pheobe Bishop's housemate James Wood is arrested and taken into police custody as the search for missing teen is called off

Pheobe Bishop's housemate James Wood has been taken into custody and is being questioned in connection with her disappearance.

Wood is assisting police and no charges have been laid.

Pheobe Bishop's housemate James Wood breaks his silence about the day she went missing - and reveals new details about what happened in the car to the airport... as he's taken into custody

The housemate of missing teenager Pheobe Bishop has revealed explosive new details about her car ride to the airport on the day she disappeared.

In an exclusive interview with Daily Mail Australia, James Wood described a tense and emotional morning that ended with Pheobe getting out of the car adjacent to the airport - and never being seen again.

Wood was taken into custody at 11.40am on Wednesday in Bolewski Street, Bundaberg but no charges were immediately laid.

Just hours before his arrest, Wood told Daily Mail Australia that Pheobe had been excited for days about visiting her boyfriend, but teenage nerves and 'heightened emotions' turned the morning into chaos.

Wood claimed that at their home at Gin Gin that morning, Pheobe was stressing about what to pack, what to wear and making the flight on time.

'She wanted to get up at 5am but I said I wasn't waking up that early, it's not that far.

'Then she slept through her alarm and when she got up she was furious.

'She gets like that sometimes and usually we can calm her down but she was escalating and then she smashed the TV,' Wood claimed.

'After that she started shouting about not having anything to wear and she was so worked up about seeing her boyfriend for the first time and she wanted to look good.

'And I get it, she is a teenager and she thinks he may be the love of her life, so I understand.

'I grabbed some grey brand new trackies I had and I threw them to her and said wear these and first she said she didn't want to take them as they were mine but then she said "OK" and put them on.'

Wood claimed emotional outbursts were not unusual for the 17-year-old, but they had become more frequent in the weeks leading up to her trip.

'She does have a temper but she is not a bad kid, she is actually a great kid, she is kind and smart and has good manners but she was living with us because she couldn't live at home anymore,' he said.

'There were too many fights, too much had gone on and she is just a kid.

'If I had a little sister and all she had was her car to live in then I would want someone to help her.

'I had known her for almost a year when she moved in with us four months ago and Tanika worked with her as a carer so they knew each other well.'

Despite the tardy start to the morning of her planned departure, Wood said there was still plenty of time to make her flight from Bundaberg, which was around 10am.

He quickly ran to the local IGA to grab energy drinks and returned to the house around 8am.

After loading a large duffle bag - 'almost the size of her' - into the car alongside his dog, they set off for the airport, with Bromley driving and Pheobe in the back seat.

Minutes later, about 8.30am, before they’d left Gin Gin for Bundaberg, Pheobe called her boyfriend to let him know she was on the way.

Daily Mail Australia previously reported the boyfriend claimed he heard shouting during the call.

The boyfriend later told a friend: 'They were both yelling at her and I couldn't really hear her.'

Wood doesn't dispute the claim and said that Phoebe was still complaining she didn't have time to do her make up and was worried she was going to miss the flight.

'We just wanted to get her checked in and thought if we can just get there she will calm down.

'Tanika grabbed her makeup bag next to her and passed it back and told her to take anything she needed.

'Her plane was stopping in Brisbane and we told her that the airport had everything she needed and she can take her time and do the makeup in the toilets.

'But she wanted to look nice for the flight first and wouldn't let it go.'

As they approached Airport Drive, less than a kilometre from the terminal, the argument continued, Wood said.

Wood told Bromley to pull the car over and they got out and walked a distance away to give Pheobe some space to collect herself.

'We wanted to give her five minutes - give her her own space to do what she needed to do,' he said.

'We walked to the end, it was maybe five minutes, maybe it was three minutes or maybe it was eight but that's about how long we were gone.'

Wood said when he returned to the car, Pheobe and her bag were gone.

He assumed that she had walked the short remaining distance to the terminal. The couple then drove toward the airport to check, he said, but they didn’t see her along the way.

'You wouldn't miss her carrying that thing, if you drove past her and saw her, you'd notice,' he said.

Wood claims the pair then waited outside the small terminal for some time but did not go inside.

'I said to Tanika if I go in it will just escalate things again but she said if she went in it would look like we were parenting her.'

They then decided to check surrounding roads in case she had walked off in another direction.

'We drove around and as far as we thought she could have made it and then drove a bit further in case.'

Wood claimed this would have been the moment when CCTV footage picked up his car heading towards the Good Night Scrub National Park.

Wood insisted that he did not hurt Pheobe and assumed she had boarded the flight.

He said it was not until the following afternoon when he received a text message from Pheobe's sister that he realised she was missing.

Well sgnificant is he was taken into custody after this
Aside from that, a rule I have for myself is to never believe a word out of a possible or likely perp's mouth if not corroborated.
The account almost has times it some things seem they may be truth but then not really, all are really explaining something.

This is a very strange case. I'm still searching for a motive but don't have a lot of doubt as to perps or suspects.

He can say as he likes about her as there is NO corroboration, I hate that. Some mistakenly take such things as truth. Maybe there is some in it, we'd have no way of knowing, and maybe there is zero.

Interesting things like the bag is the size of her and everything seems meant to explain any stop or movement.

In this case I am taking another wait and see but think the culprit/s are obvious.

Yeah i agree there appears to be some truth but at which point it changes to lies appears to be them letting her out to walk the last stretch. Then searching for her. Why would they do that rather than get her to the airport ? Especially if the bag was as big and heavy as they describe. Something clearly happened and seems like it was some sort of altercation where tempers got frayed.

Also they know their car is on the airport cameras so they had to explain why they went there and she wasn't with them. Same thing with being on the other cameras too, near the scrub park presumably.

When they said they got out the car to give her a few minutes is when they had killed her and they got out the car to discuss what to do. Maybe they even put her body in the boot (trunk) at that point IMO.

This article says Woods was released without charge so not sure which source is incorrect.

A man has been released without charge after police spent hours questioning him over the “suspicious” disappearance of a 17-year-old girl.
James Wood, 34, was taken into custody on Wednesday and released several hours later without charge, police said in an update on Thursday.
Pheobe Bishop was last seen near Bundaberg airport about 8.30am on 15 May after booking a trip to Western Australia to see her boyfriend.
CCTV footage showed Pheobe never arrived at the airport terminal.

Queensland police detectives are trying to find out what happened to her.
“Detectives are continuing to run through several lines of inquiry as investigations continue and will conduct physical searches when required,” police said in a statement on Thursday.
The search for Pheobe was scaled back on Wednesday after police had spent weeks combing several areas of interest in southern Queensland.
One of those areas was a property in Gin Gin where Pheobe had lived with Wood and a woman.
The Gin Gin property near Bundaberg and a grey Hyundai ix35, thought to have been used to take Pheobe to the airport, were declared crime scenes soon after her disappearance.

Wood and Pheobe’s other housemate, Tanika Kristan Bromley, have since been charged with weapons offences.
Bromley was granted bail at Bundaberg magistrates court to reappear on 23 June while Wood was issued a notice to appear on 13 June.

The weapons charges were unrelated to Pheobe’s disappearance, police said, and there is no suggestion Bromley or Wood were involved.

The police search initially focused on Good Night Scrub national park, an hour’s drive from Bundaberg airport, with homicide detectives, cadaver dogs and divers called in.

Some items believed to be linked to the investigation were seized for forensic examination.

The search revealed evidence might have been moved from the national park before police arrived.

Pheobe’s mother, Kylie Johnson, has been posting on social media almost every day pleading for information about her daughter’s whereabouts.
Her latest update documented the heartbreaking toll the disappearance of Pheobe is having on the family.
“I don’t know if life will ever be the same again? I don’t know if I will ever look at the world the same way that I did before May 15th,” Johnson posted on Facebook.
“What I do know is that people have information on where you are Phee and we need that reported to police.”
The community rallied around the missing teenager’s family during the search with a “Leave the Lights On for Pheobe” campaign.
Gin Gin locals posted photos on social media of their front lights switched on “to guide Pheobe home”.

Anyone with information, footage or sightings of the grey Hyundai between 15 May and 18 May in the Gin Gin area has been urged to contact police.

Pheobe is about 180cm tall with a pale complexion, long hair that has been dyed red, and hazel eyes.
She was last seen carrying luggage, wearing a green tank top and grey sweatpants.

They can both be correct. I believe he was released and then subsequently charged.

Earlier this week, Wood was taken into custody. However he was released without charge.

On Thursday night, both were charged with murder and interfering with a corpse. They are due to appear at Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday.
