Father accused of kidnapping 3-year-old son has active Domestic Violence Protection Order violation​

A man with a kidnapping warrant in connection with a missing 3-year-old from Fayetteville currently has an active charge for a Domestic Violence Protection Order violation, according to police.

Police say Robert Paul Parker Sr. took his young son from a home in Fayetteville last week on June 14.

The child, named Robert Paul Parker Jr., is described as a white male with blonde hair and blue eyes.

The child is believed to be with his father, who is 46 years old and described as white, male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds. He has blonde hair and hazel eyes, a tattoo of "Parker" on his back and a tattoo of a mermaid on his leg.

The suspect is traveling using a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EX with NC tag KCA-3424. The vehicle may have front-end damage.

Amber Alert canceled for missing 3-year-old boy

Fayetteville police are searching for Robert Parker Jr.

An Amber Alert issued Wednesday morning for a missing 3-year-old, Robert Parker Jr., was canceled, according to police.

Authorities sent out a news release Wednesday afternoon, stating the alert was canceled, but did not say whether the child was found safe, or whether there had been any arrests made in the case.

Officer Alexandria Pecia, public information officer for Fayetteville police, said that more information would be released at a later time.

A 3-year-old boy who was reportedly kidnapped by his father a week ago had had an Amber Alert issued and rescinded within the last 24 hours.

Fayetteville Police Department issued an Amber Alert for Robert Parker Jr. just before 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Investigators then said they had been informed at 1 a.m. on June 21 that the boy had been abducted from his home on Ireland Drive by his father, Robert Paul Parker Sr.

Officers said the abduction had actually taken place back on or around June 14 and Parker Sr. did not have custody rights with the boy

Parker Sr. held Parker Jr. in his arms during a standoff with police in August 2022 at the same home on Ireland Drive. He was charged with child abuse and resisting an officer in connection to that standoff.

Just before 10 a.m., Fayetteville Police Department said that Parker Sr. had been charged with violating a domestic violence protection order. The department confirmed at this time that the Amber Alert remained active.

Then at 4 p.m., the department "rescinded" the Amber Alert, saying investigators had become "aware of additional information."

Fayetteville Police Department has not said whether officers know where Parker Jr. is at the moment or if the child is safe.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — UPDATE: The Amber Alert for Robert Paul Parker Jr. has been rescinded. According to the Fayetteville Police Department, the "custodial issues occurred within the jurisdiction of Hoke County, where an active Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO) was also issued that lists Robert Parker as the defendant". Fayetteville Police are in contact with Hoke County deputies.

So to read between the lines here, do I have this right? There is a DVPO in place likely since his standoff last year? And he wasn't in jail but had an RO (restraining order/protective order) against him? Lot of good it apparently did.

Logic and an educated guess would be that the restraining order was for the mother of the child OR the child even but probably mom. Court likely EVEN though a standoff with the child child abuse and resisting charges and a restraining order allowed him to have continued right to see his child is my guess. Whether that allowed him to see the child/pick him up at the mother's or a designated location who knows...

And whether the DVPO was abided by by both parties who knows.

All I know is the history here sounds as if this man shouldn't have had contact with or access to the other party of the DVPO which is likely the mother. And maybe shouldn't have even had access to his son. Doesn't sound like much protection is going on.

Well okay, why is there any issue re custody if he had a standoff with the child and was charged with child abuse and resisting an officer last year.

Sounds like another system failure and of course little info provided, all guess work on my part.

The one linked above? That was just the AMBER Alert poster which was removed when the Alert was canceled.

Really annoying that nobody will confirm whether the child is safe or not. But it seems like there is no active missing persons report for him anywhere at the moment. If anyone hears/sees otherwise, let me know.
