The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the ongoing search for a missing/endangered 11-year-old Colorado Springs boy who went missing Monday afternoon, and the task force investigating his disappearance is organizing a team of volunteers to start searching for him.

Gannon Stauch was believed to be a runaway after he left his home southeast of Colorado Springs between 3:15 and 4 p.m. on Monday. But as the week progressed, his disappearance was upgraded to a missing/endangered person case.

His stepmother said he left his home on foot to play at a friend’s house down the street on Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies and major crimes detectives had taken “extraordinary steps” to locate the boy, the sheriff’s office said. They were actively searching for evidence and taking witness statements, a sheriff’s office news release issued earlier this week read.

“He’s very young, it’s dark and cold outside and we want to bring Gannon to safety,” the sheriff’s said in a Facebook post earlier this week.

On Thursday afternoon, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and other task force members, as well as Stauch’s parents, hosted a news conference to update the community on his disappearance, discuss the steps being taken in the investigation, and to notify people in the area that they are organizing volunteers to begin a community search effort in coming days.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mitch Mahalko said the sheriff’s office received the investigation on Tuesday afternoon and started doing interviews and collecting video surveillance and talking to neighbors, working to collect new leads.

He said that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and FBI got involved after the case was upgraded to a missing/endangered child case. The FBI’s team specializes in search and rescue and “will be a good partner” in the investigation, Mahalko said.

He said the investigation was active and that authorities were conducting interviews with witnesses and collecting evidence – exhausting every lead they receive.

Mahalko said investigators were looking at “persons of interest” in the case as people who might be able to give them additional information on Stauch’s whereabouts.

He declined to say where authorities had been searching but confirmed that investigators had been in contact with some trash companies in El Paso County and in the Lorson Ranch area.

Kirby stressed that people with tips should report them to their tip line – 719-520-6666 – and not on social media because any tips sent to the sheriff’s office on social media will not be considered.

That's right, there wasn't anything on this one today was there? Maybe I'm not as behind as I thought. Haven't listened to all in any of the cases but hopefully have stayed on top of most of the key points with the help of updates people post in them here.

I didn't understand that either. Those circumstances are a bit murky, but I am afraid we may never know who knew exactly what at what time. And don't forget that she maybe manipulated her family her whole life.
I just watched her Interview with detective Bethel and she was lying about practically everything . Even things having nothing to do with Gannon
There was something missing with the van deal and one step missing with the brother too. I have to almost wonder if they didn't come to realize there was maybe a body, or that she was lying or that that suitcase was WAY too big and she was lying, etc. again or knew something more at some point and maybe wouldn't turn her in but were HAVING no PART of it where they could be involved or something on that order... They may have at some point told LE with the assurance LE wouldn't charge them or some such. I don't know. It was obvious there was a part missing imo that most proescutors would have drilled in on and not left alone. There might have also been family pressure, maybe one member would do anything for her and the rest at a point felt she was innocent at first until they got there and saw something or until the van was rented and loaded, etc. or something...

I don't know if I've seen the interview with Bethel or not, I can't recall any longer. I've seen a few things and day or so of testimony and now the brother, etc.

I don’t know what any guy saw in her in the first place. I have thought that so many times in this case.
She looked a bit better in earlier years and what I think he saw in her was she wasn't his wife, like almost any cheating husband, that's about all it is. Well add the fact that she likely flirted with him or responded to his doing so and that's really all you need.

Cheating really doesn't get enough of a look of the damage it causes a family and the people it can bring into kids' lives or their own life.

I consider Al a victim don't get me wrong but I don't think he was stellar husband material and even if he loved his kids, he put them in her care. I'm sure if he had fully known, he'd do it over in a heartbeat, etc. but the man did quite quickly put another woman in place and I believe married her and then his remaining child had another new person not well known in her life.

I am saying this mostly because how many dam*ed cases have we seen where it is a new bf, a stepfather, a stepmother, etc. responsible for the death of a child. Or both... If it makes anyone think twice or take some time before doing so, then it should be said.

Ain't it the truth? I bet Gannon was terrified of her, she just has an evil look to her face.
Lord help me, I hope she is thrown in the dungeon and the keys are thrown away.
If you're only wishing her in the dungeon with no keys, you are a far better person than I so Lord help me.

Yes, she is quite something. And I don't mean that as a compliment to her. NO WAY.

The Video of the interrogation with detective Bethel was shown on day 6 I think. Its four hours long and bs. She should also be held accountable for wasted resources and wasted life time of LE personnel.

I don't think I've seen it then. I have seen some bits and pieces here and there or maybe started watching part of it but not sure. Is that the same day as the brother? I think I started watching one or two after he was done. I've also seen a part of a summary or two. I know I watched some LE on one day or another.

It sure would have been nice to have had the time to watch it more routinely and in order, then I'd probably know but between both cases and just looking at some here and there each day, and not all by a long shot, I'm not sure.

Thank you, it's a big help hearing who and what was of interest on each day. That's why when I had a moment I went and watched the brother's testimony even though there was another day out I think by then. Now I know Bethel is likely worth a watch.

Sorry Gbear, it was day 7 they played the interrogation video, I got confused. I couldn't watch all of it, because that bs she is telling got too much for me...🤬

She's definitely a nutcase, but she knew exactly what she was doing when she killed Gannon and tried to hide his body!!!! :gavel:
:bars:
My local serial killer nutcase, Bob Berdella, (6 degrees of separation in a few ways with this one  )refused to plead insanity because he even realized that to be able to kill somebody, you have to be a bit insane and it was a cop out plea. How could anybody not agree with that logic?
