Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

Upon identification, they next intend to notify next of kin. Well yeah but I imagine parents, etc. know their children are missing? I'm not saying the parents did it but one would think two children (at least it sounds like) would be a case cops would know about IF they were reported. If they weren't reported well then... I also imagine the storage unit was under someone's name...
 
About 8 minutes in and just a few minutes long, Scott's take on Speaker Pelosi's husband's DUI and the video of the night and more. I have a comment or two or did, nothing political, but I don't have it in me and they are failing me now, tired.

One was that like so many others of course he tried to use or say who he IS.

Another is that I believe that test result being the shape he was in when it happened NOT AT ALL. A few hours passed which Scott points out could well be part of it but I don't even think that is all. The man was slurring AND had to hold onto the car and more.

WAS there a blood test?

I had more but they escape me right now. Anyhow, here it is around the 8 minute mark give or take. In Scott fashion right on point and with some humor.


 
I have to wonder is it a fact or known they took a blood test/draw at the hospital? Can't look farther right now into that. Scott talks as if they did. Not sure I trust that either... Testing for everything or not?

Me TOO. Says a LOT about their character or lack of it.

I dare say far more that "are" someone say something about it than don't... How many stories do we ever hear that go, wow you know we arrested the mayor's wife the other night, or the Chief of Police in the next town over and we had no idea who he was until someone later told us on hearing the name that oh that's so and so...

Most of the time it seems they are famous people known for musical prowess or acting.

Quite a few politicians or their family though too. That SD Attorney General was it last year? This. So many others but examples fail me right now. Local police chiefs, one from the Cities had a DUI and an accident and refused to step down this year or last. He was also in a work vehicle. But yeah the famed from "Hollywood" so to speak we sure hear of it a lot...

The SD just left the scene of an accident. There was no saying, "Do you know who I am?" He figured it would just work itself out.
