ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

WHAT?! How can any judge declare her not guilty?. There is no doubt she's guilty. Come on.
Gee a volunteer firefighter and first responder getting off easy. Where have I heard that before. And hiding a murder. Hmm. Sounds familiar too...

And in this case a FIREFIGHTER abusing by hosing the girl down. Then on murdering, she burned her alive. All of this a FIREFIGHTER DID? Using hoses and fire as forms of abuse?? Unreal.

A bench trial. All I can surmise is the judge didn't feel they had enough evidence... Did they or didn't they? A judge should now circumstantial and indirect evidence can be enough... Did they have enough?

Not too surprising to me knowing that area. It's very shady down there.

Yeah. It does sound familiar. And pretty much getting away with it. She completely did.

I wonder what the cause will be?

Of course, there's a jumble of info since she's a celebrity. But it looks like she has mental health issues and was drunk. I'm guessing charges are coming, as they should.
