Got my Masters degree from here. :(

Killer who stabbed 4 Idaho students to death still at large

The killer — or killers — who stabbed four University of Idaho students to death remained at large Tuesday, prompting many students to leave the campus in the idyllic small town despite police assurances that there was no imminent risk to the community.

So many students had left the scenic tree-lined campus in Moscow, Idaho, by Tuesday that university officials said a candlelight vigil scheduled for the next day would instead be held after the Thanksgiving break.

The students, all close friends, were found dead in an off-campus rental home around noon on Sunday, and officials said they likely were killed several hours earlier. Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt told the Spokane, Washington-based television station KXLY that her preliminary investigation showed the students were stabbed to death. There is no indication that substance use was involved in the deaths, Mabbutt said.

I don't I used to do it but no longer. I used to access it free no problem. However, I'm mad at them over something, can't recall what right now but something they did re a case in the last year maybe and I said never again. It isn't that big of a deal, I will hear about it and honestly I am a bit back and forth on Dateline lately. I really didn't agree with them doing the Daybell thing and they do these these things right before trial often, they did in that one and this one is coming up fast and here we go. I care MORE the cases are not affected than I do about their shows. By a long shot. I get that that's the business but Keith didn't even try hard to nail Lori down from what I've heard. Peacock, the same kind of issue.

Likewise I love Nate but I don't agree with him and Lauren and others chasing the jurors down after Daybell, nor do I agree with AZ just releasing them to the wolves. And oh, look, now a possible issue has come about. I care about justice.

LOL I have lots of complaints about such things.
I bet you got rid of Peacock when you heard they did a deal with CB's wife.

Here's a link to the full Dateline episode. Unfortunately it's only going to be watchable if you have NBC / cable. (or can get a login from someone)

Looked yesterday, I used to have a log in for it I think, wouldn't know where it was right now or honestly I think I got in without even logging in.

I did check it out, looks like I could sign up with email and watch for free at least a number of things like 3 maybe, didn't look all that close. Thought I'd get back to it but haven't. I've already seen a show that covered a lot of it.

Appreciate the info as I am sure all do. May check out further at some point.

Maybe he discussed hiking with a couple of girls there and couldn't remember which ones number he had taken?
I think it's more the social awkwardness. He probably is very used to kind of if not creeping girls out, having them kind of avoid him and it was his way of trying not to come across too strong. My guess anyhow. It was worded a bit unusually but it's not like way out there. It was a TV show and anyone with some tidbits of info they are going to have on. I do think the pool party itself may be significant though.

Last court date set for Bryan Kohberger before Idaho student murders trial

The man accused of murdering four University of Idaho students, Bryan Kohberger, will be in court Thursday.

It’s his last scheduled appearance before the trial begins in August.

According to the Idaho Statesman, the court will likely review the state’s request to admit a series of records police obtained, including search warrants, purchase histories of Kohberger and the four victims, phone logs, surveillance camera footage near the crime scene, and a term paper written by Kohberger about crime scenes.

The Statesman also reports that there may be some discussion about the defense’s and prosecution’s specific pieces of evidence they intend to present at trial.

Jury selection is scheduled for late July, and the trial will begin by the second week of August.

Live: Bryan Kohberger has final court appearance before Idaho trial

In a final pretrial, a judge ruled the August trial of Bryan Kohberger, charged with killing four University of Idaho students in 2022, will be livestreamed.

The judge ruled that the jury selection process will not be live-streamed, although the public will be able to watch from a room inside the courtroom.

Bryan Kohberger's defense team has submitted an "offer of proof" of an alternative perpetrator, according to Judge Steven Hippler.

Hippler said the filing will be sealed.

During Thursday's hearing, Hippler also asked defense attorneys for additional evidence to support the allegations of an alternative perpetrator.

Hippler gave Kohberger's defense attorneys until May 23 to provide additional evidence.

So i don't think i heard this alternative perp theory. Is it a bit like the Odinists in Delphi and the supposed Alpert beating up JO in the Read trial. Is this "alternative perp" a bona fide defence tactic these days?

Here is a short video clip where it is brought up in court. The judge has given them a deadline for this theory to be submitted.

Yes, it is becoming a "thing" which is why I don't get why so many can't see it for what it is. It takes a lot to get that theory in though, they need some solid definitive proof. I haven't read up here or watched anything today but I do know the defense is desperate so my guess is that's the next attempt I suppose.

I honestly don't get how anyone can't see through this stuff, Delphi, Read here. I'm not going to personally say that about any but I mean it is soooo obvious for what it is.

Haven' read it though, about to go down for count for like 5th time today.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure he was told much earlier in the case that he couldn't use that defense unless he was SPECIFIC. Can't just say "someone else did it" but have to have an actual suspect or actual information that points to someone other than him.
That might have been before the case got transferred to Boise. But either way, sounds like this judge is pretty much saying that same thing.

Yep, because literally any other person charged with a crime could say that if they didn't put that criteria in there.

In Read, Delphi and now Kohberger (and I don't doubt others) no they can't just come in with some made up third party defense actually naming people without very solid reasons and some evidence of it. All denied. For obvious reasons. They don't have any such evidence.

So there was a hearing in this one too. So many going on at once. Many are turning to this one next. Nate is, and HTC went from Lori's hearing to the BK hearing here. I don't know what they will do when Brandon's comes on in Daybell but many are doing this one now.

A good recap I'd say with a lot of key points and the judge being a no nonsense judge.

And she actually was in attendance.

I got a new mouse so now can link but it moves too fast lol, always something, need to adjust the speed.

I think I am the one who brought up the dateline thing here if I recall but I don't get it or have access. So I knew it was coming but haven't seen it. Who is Ken Mains? This case has had a lot going on but all have been on Daybell and Read.
