ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

This is strange. Not sure why hadn't heard a word of it until now. Mel looks at various things about it and that's why I like YT for some things over a print article as I get a full overview and more detail.

Their cars were STILL parked at his house. Alllegedlly. He ignored calls about their whereabouts.

This is crazy. Worth listening to this vid. Makes NO sense.

Even if it was drugs or something, does not explain the actions or lack of them of the man living in the home and hosting.

I'm so glad they got answers even thought he was already dead. This is awful and they were just girls. They probably lived their lives in fear not knowing who had done this to them.

I do not understand why they didn't have a DNA hit since he was IN PRISON. You generally don't go to prison for a misdemeanor but felonies and if a felony, one would think his DNA would have been in the system or could he have been there so long it was before such a practice and he grandfathered in and couldn't be made to give his DNA/provide it for the system?

That part confuses me.

He died in prison in 1983. It wasn't a thing to take DNA at that time. It wasn't even used in criminal cases until 1986/1987.

Well that makes sense then. I did read the article but the year must not have imprinted, that he was gone that long ago. Not all that many years then after the did this to these then girls. It's a good thing for the familial then or they'd have no way of ever having solved this most likely.

I was going to share news on that tonight. Been following that one. They then released that cocaine, THC, fentanyl and I think one other thing was named but those three for sure. Heard it referred to as a speedball, very dangerous, upper with downer, etc.

Sounds like everyone who knew him knew him to be the drug supplier, from high school, through college to nowadays and he was called the "chemist". Some have said he wasn't a close friend he was a supplier...

It was also said after the initial news of Coke that it takes 10 whatever to kill from Fentanyl and these men had 30! I can't recall the measurement, milligrams, blood percentage, no idea but takes 10 units of whatever to be lethal and again they were at 30 in their sysetm.

A woman I work with asked me if I knew of this case a few weeks back and of course I did and was following iit. She had no idea I followed crime and It old her it is my main interest. She does'nt follow crime but is a football fan as am I and so she thought I might know of it because she knew I was into football lol and she was right. And so we started discussing each time we saw each other the case and any new news on it. Been kind of fun, 2/3 of the people there I'd say are young and we actually don't get to interact a lot in our positions with anyone or get time but in dead moments if we are at work next to each other or on the same day we were discussing it. I should note she is a fan of the wrong team lol. The Vikings and that's just a NO!

As cases do, it all of a sudden has went pretty quiet as the key news is out I guess. Far from over though. The public doesn't know yet if the party host is guilty and will be charged and I'm sure they're going through all cell records and more of all present at the home. Thought of making a thread on it but never got around to it.

I thought @Guess Who would maybe show up over such a big local case, to talk it. I was happy to see @GarAndMo39 was following it. At work, I'm glad the other woman is.

There are soooo many cases one can say it with but I just keep thinking DON'T DO DRUGS especially when you have no clue what you are getting. It is NOT cool and you trade a momentary high or whatever for a lot of risk and a lfietime maybe of wanting the same again.

And this party host/ How cool is it now to be thought of as the chemist and the dealer when you find you have three dead "friends" in your yard and are all over national and world news and being crucified? Nice for your family too, dad with Alzheimer's I believe isn't it?

I don't know how much more there is to this one but there's that much at least and I think he likely did provide it if not produce it even but that remains to be seen.

It's a very unusual case. The drugs aren't but the simultaneous deaths are and this wasn't like in drug alley but invoilved people with normal lives, jobs and careers and who had families. That's not saying it is any better, just that it is more unusual and shows that it can happen to anyone. Maybe they only did this once or twice a year. Maybe they did it frequently. And maybe they only did it since reconnecting with him when he moved back........?

Anyhow it is what I've had bare time to follow the past couple of weeks and it went pretty quiet now and just thinking of it this morning and thought I'd add some to it if anyone is interested or followed it at all.

@GarAndMo39 tickled to see you. Been wondering how you are. Of course I'm not real regular these days either lol. Life.

Interesting case. Tragic and sad though.

And not that it relates but this weekend is the big game with KC and these fans would have been wild to see it I'm sure and will not be doing so. I wonder who the two survivors feel about the game and if they will watch while their friends are dead... Of course one conveniently went to rehab. The other could have no involvement hard to say...
