ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

This guy had no clue who he swiped off the street. He was looking for a woman to use for sex. He constantly was harassing and offering money to the women in his brother’s neighborhood for sex. No one would accept his lewd “offer”. I guess he thought going straight to a prostitute was beneath him…I don’t know. But, somehow he could reconcile just snatching someone off the street to rape. I’m praying for her safe recovery, but I’m afraid that she really fought him and in the process he killed her - probably choked her or smothered her trying to quiet her and stop her from fighting. But, LE was so quick to get and provide pictures of the abduction, and determine who the abductor was - even tracing the location of his phone at the time of the crime, I’m very curious as to why they haven’t been able to track other places his phone pinged during that time frame, or find more pictures of his vehicle In other locations.
Yeah. He didn't care who it was. Looking for a victim. Which his kidnapping history, Doesn't surprise me. A threat to the public to say the least. That's O.K. Im sure he learned his lesson. I can't find someone to take my offer so I'll make someone then. Unbelievable. The so called "Justice system" With their sentences are creating more victims. What's the criminal going to say?. No no. Don't let me out. I have really bad ideas. I think he was already enraged with frustration and I was thinking strangulation. An up close and personal way to kill someone and a very angry way. It's slow and some killers like to watch their victims suffer. I'm sorry, But I don't think there is any chance she is alive.

Has it came out that he had no clue who she was? I'm thinking he "might" have possibly known and thought he had a gold mine possibility in her.

She was autistic and non verbal, Wandered away before. Attracted to noise and water. That's a trait of autism. I don't know the parents. But it seems someone failed. Given all of that, Wouldn't you watch her more closely?.

I'm not sure he did. Several more details have came to light. I think he just needed a power thrill.

A body was found, very close to the abduction site and the brother's home. Waiting on identification.

I'm not sure either way, I just had not heard that mentioned and was wondering.

Accused in Eliza Fletcher murder:

"Cleotha Abston was only 11 years old when he first entered the Shelby County Juvenile Court as a delinquent, according to juvenile court records exclusively reviewed by Action News 5.

Over the next five years, he would be detained 16 times for charges ranging from aggravated assault to rape.

Abston’s first charge was filed in June 1995 for theft of property $500 or less. From October 1995 to May 2000, Abston was convicted of rape, aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon.

His juvenile court records show Abston was part of the “LMG” gang, which stands for “Lemoyne Gardens Ganstas,” and that his father was incarcerated at the time of his first arrest.

Records also show that Abston’s rape victim, a male, was asked to testify in court. The rape charge was sustained and Abston was placed in the custody of Shelby County’s Youth Services Bureau.

In fact, Abston was placed in the custody of Youth Services multiple times as a young teen.

However, two weeks after he was released to his mother after a six-month stay, Abston committed his last juvenile crime before he was transferred to adult court.

Abston kidnapped Memphis Defense Attorney Kemper Durand at gunpoint in May 2000. Durand was able to yell for help while Abston was forcing him to withdraw money from an ATM.

Abston, who was 16 at the time of the crime, was tried as an adult and sentenced to 24 years in prison.

In 2009, Abston asked the court for an early release citing, in part, “ineffective counsel.”

However, a victim impact statement written by Durand discouraged Abston’s release saying he felt “extremely lucky” to have escaped and that Abston felt “absolutely no remorse for the crime.”

Abston served 20 years of his 24-year sentence for the Durand kidnapping, 85% of his term, and was released from Trousdale Turner Correctional Facility in November 2020.

According to the Tennessee Department of Corrections, he was released early due to credits he received for serving jail time before his sentence and for participating in the prison’s job program where Abston worked in the kitchen, laundry, cleaner, and as a cook.

Cleo Henderson, Abston’s father who was incarcerated when Abston was first arrested, is currently in prison for second-degree murder and is scheduled for release in 2044."

Wow. Seems like most of this family are complete scumbags.
Is this his wife or are they no longer together or separated but were together and this happened? Or a completely different woman?

They have two small children and they had a YT channel for some time but haven't seen it active lately but then I never followed it all that closely so it may be. I think there was a newborn just last year and the older one was maybe barely two, three tops I think.

If this is the wife while married and together claiming this then while it can be assault, it often isn't taken too seriously by courts if between husband and wife. Clearly there is a relationship of some sort if there was conversation about it and consensual sex up to a point...

I watched their channel some but really don't know what I think of him or his wife... I didn't just fall for him by any means and they act and seem sincere but there were a few things that bothered me but I put them down to being young and let's face it motherless and the one he had wasn't a great one by any means...
