Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

I don't like her at ALL! Her family sad they were shocked after the murder because she was never handicapped. It was all a show. She plays innocent very well. She will con people to get her way.

That's what I struggle with, she was raised a con and I think or sense it's still in her. I struggle totally with it all but I'm down on murder and ten years is never okay for murder, a PLANNED murder.

I do struggle with her age at the time, the control of her mother and abuse, and more. She was born to a con and didn't choose it but she learned it well.

I also remember don't I that I think after mom was dead they had sex in the home while she was lying dead, in the bathroom or something, or was it before she was killed? That too was a sickening detail. The mother is also not an overly sympathetic victim, she conned, defrauded people, whatever and taugtht these kinds of lessons rather than good moral ones to her daughter.

This whole Taylor Swift/KC Chiefs thing makes her seem so naive and stupid and I do think she is/was in some ways. She learned a lot of things but she was sheltered and controlled in a lot of other ways and from learning society as a whole and the ways of people who don't live a con.

I don't know.

When I saw an interview of her and it may have been two over the years even I watched, she seems sincere, has all of the right responses and even takes on guilt, etc as she should, but I just couldn't help but have in the back of my mind that she knows how to con...

Theer's not a lot to yell about here though, she served the sentence given. Yelling should have occurred at the time of sentencing and the sentence given I guess.

Her first move though with this game, Swift AND announcing it to the nation was not a good one.

I'll also say this, I don't see why he would receive life and she receive ten years. Of course defendants tried separately can have different results and all that but as hers a deal or was there actually a trial, I can't recall?

Her family as in mom's side? Or dad's? I remember dad claiming what he would have done or how he would have helped, yada, yada.

How did they think she was living or income was coming? Or of all the doctor visits and more? Family never knew or saw a hint? I mean did Dee Dee ensure the one side of life was kept away from family ever seeing?

I agree she knows how to play innocent. She learned it well. She does not know though, imo, the way MOST of society operates/is/lives day to day.

Where's dad? Didn't he wonder where the child was?

Where's grandpa and grandma, didn't they wonder?

How did she pay rent or own a home? Did she work and leave him home? Benefits?

They don't even have a time frame here of child last seen.

Neighbors talk as if they didn't even know she lived there nor so nor hardly saw.

I mean she herself had to eat and get food somehow, delivered, go out, etc. She's alive.

There are a LOT of questions here to be answered.

She needs to rot of course but where is anyone who should have been wondering where he if not both he and she were?

Is she an illegal? Is she a prostitute? A doctor with a great reputation and a home in a nice family neighborhood?

What's the back story? I want to know.

Drugs? If so you'd think neighbors would have seen people coming and going.

Did neighbors even know there was a child?

I suppose these answers will come but maybe not as we may never hear hardly another word about it. And that's wrong too.

This one leads to to some serious questions. The murder details in this article don't talk sexual assault or anything but what was a significant amount of his DNA doing found on an underwear item which I'd guess to be a bra since they talk clasp? Was this a sexual assault too? I guess it is slightly possible she may have been dressed in only undergarments. They have closed it out but there are questions and the other big one, was this guy a serial killer or this his first kill??? No personal relationship, no hint of motive...

It seems like awesome news on the face of it but then one reads the article and it is lacking and even seems as if okay, now they can say this and close it and tell family and that's that.

Exactly. That's exactly what I'm wondering. I would hope it isn't just case closed here and they aren't taking his DNA further. The thing is they maybe have had his DNA though always through these years. I don't think it was his DNA they didn't have, it was the ability to test evidence at the scene of her murder to the degree they can now. But maybe they couldn't run his for any hit until now and maybe now they can?
