ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

But, ya know, she didn't "hands on" murder her. Baby should have taken care of self I guess.

Hard to even talk about as what hat child suffered probably for quite some time is hard to think about.

I gather she didn't leave 20 baby bottles of water in the pen. Maybe then she'd have survived. This is just all around AWFUL. DESPICABLE. There isn't even any shame in some of these perps. And they ALL plead NOT GUILTY and take no RESPONSIBILITY. Rarely these days do we see otherwise.
This one is very bad. Evil. It's beyond. No words to really. But my stomach is turning. It gives you feeling more than words.

It'll be insanity. Nental evaluation. I can see it coming. Well she had to be to think the baby would be O.K. NO! She had left before. She knew what she was doing. She went on vacation. There is something wrong with you. How you justify and process that's O.K.

Yeah but she came home before and never a problem right... In her stupid warped mind.

It is odd she didn't just kill. I don't mean that I wish she had, don't get me wrong but again does she tell herself, I didn't touch the child?

NOT that I think that's mental defense, it is a creepy rationalization.

AND it isn't like she was doing it to support the child as she had to work and couldn't pay a sitter/day care. She was on a vacation!!!!

I think I missed her age, how old do you know?

Yeah in a lot of cases lately, there aren't any excuses and all they have is trying for some mental defense. Enter Richard Allen. Letecia Stauch. Lori Vallow I'm sure her attorney would have recommended trying it but she apparently refused--she wants it know she is sane and loves Chad and don't throw him under the bus either....

The woman in this case though I mean wow. These not guilty pleas are getting old. I know we don't know all facts but some are just clearly guilty. She LEFT her baby, that seems to be fact. For days on end. ALONE.

The angry face emoji I used is NOT EVEN CLOSE TO HOW MAD I AM READING THIS ONE. I AM ACTUALLY PURPLE I THINK AND APOPLECTIC.

What kind of human filth does such a thing??

There is something strange here that a child that old wouldn't have climbed out of or tipped the pen to get out. Was she abused/scared to, etc.? That's a very mobile child age. Maybe the answer is in the story but I don't dare read more of it.

And she pleads not guilty??

There was nobody who would take care of the kid for her?

And I really liked him too. Of course he's going to deny the charges. Duh. They all do. One charge may be a lie. More than one. You start to see a pattern. But being a celebrity allows them to skate alot of times. And they SHOULDN'T.

I really liked him too. I've taken to watching movies and just watching the characters. I love the Usual Suspects and Spacey is the main character. I don't think of him as Kevin Spacey, in the movie he's Keyser Söze. A guy worse than Spacey is.

I'm sure that if I was privy to the personal lives of a lot of stars more would repulse me. So I just watch for the characters and the writing.

Oh.yeah. that was a great performance. WHAAAT?! "Verbal" Is "Keyser Soze"?!

I can't recall the movie title. I'll look. Where he played a character who thought, And was very convincing he was an alien. Jeff Bridges was in it also. He was very good in that also.

I always found him very likeable. And when when he was on SNL. He sang during his monologue. "In the wee small hours of the morning". And he was pretty good. That had to be in the late 90's.

Just like "Giuliani". I wasn't into his politics. But was on SNL several times. Even dressed as an old woman in a house coat and a wig with curlers. After 9/11, When they resumed the show again. He appeared with firemen, And police officers. Lorne Michaels said...So we can be funny again?. Giuliani...Why start now.

Oh "Glengarry Glenross" My mom hated it because of the F word flying the whole movie. And "Seven" Great movie IMO. But you end up hating his character. I didn't like end for sure. You certainly have to have a strong constitution to watch that. But it's not unnecessary violence for shock value. It's the story. I have "Seven". And "The Usual Suspects". "Verbal" Hardly said anything. In jail. What's your name? Verbal. Yeah I was going to tell you to shut up.

The lineup scene was filmed just before their lunch break and all of the actors were in a silly mood, and they were going to reshoot the scene after lunch. When they came back Singer told them he was going to use the footage from before lunch.

The best actor in that movie is Alec Baldwin. His character is brief, but he just takes command of the scene with Kevin Spacey, Jack Lemon, Alan Arkin and Ed Harris and he just owns them all in that scene.
