Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

A 15-year-old was arrested on Jan. 28 driving a vehicle associated with one of three missing rappers last seen last month in Detroit, authorities say.

The juvenile was in possession of Armani Kelly's vehicle, according to CBS Detroit. Kelly and two others — Montoya Givens and Dante Wicker — went missing on the night of Jan. 21. The three men were supposed to perform at Lounge 31 in Detroit, but the show was canceled.

"I can tell you that there was a juvenile that was arrested, not in connection with the missing people, but in connection with a vehicle associated with one of the missing people," Dawn Fraylick, communications director for the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, told CBS News.

Police had been looking for rapper Armani Kelly and his friends Dante Wicker and Montoya Givens for two weeks, after the three were reporting missing. Investigators found the men's bodies in a building on the Highland Park border near Detroit's Palmer Park, sources said.

Kelly, who performed under the alias Marley Whoop, had been slated to perform at a Jan. 21 birthday party at Lounge 31 near Gratiot, but the show was canceled. The three men had been missing since that night.

Givens' mother, Cat Fogle, said police informed her about the find at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

"She's not charged with the crime they have proved," said attorney Bryan Leary. "She destroyed evidence, lied to police, ran away, but they have not proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the gun was in her hands when it was fired nine times into her son."

Thaler, 29, is accused of the heinous killing of Hart in a case that shocked the conscience. Prosecutors presented to jurors a trail of evidence pointing to Thaler's guilt. Her attorneys declined to call any witnesses, including Thaler, who told Judge Jay Quam that she was advised to not testify in her own self defense.
