3 children, 1 adult killed in shooting at Bend, Oregon, elementary school, sources say; suspect dead
At least three children and one adult were killed in a shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, on Thursday, multiple law enforcement sources told CBS News. The suspect was shot and killed — possibly by a bystander, police said.
Bend Police communications manager Sheila Miller said in a news conference that at least two people were taken to St. Charles Medical Center and that "the victims include children." The total number of victims was not clear, Miller said.
Police received a call about a man shooting into a car just before 1 p.m. local time, Miller said. About a minute later, multiple 911 calls came in saying that person had entered the school and started shooting, police said in a statement.
Police arrived within 3 minutes and quickly reported that the shooter was dead. Miller said it was not clear who shot and killed the suspect, saying it "may have been a bystander." Sources told CBS News the shooter was believed to be a teenager who was killed by a good Samaritan.

In 1989, Bundy said he asked God to forgive him for what he'd done. If he was truly remorseful, he should have fessed up to ALL the women he killed!Serial killer Ted Bundy is linked to another Utah teenager’s 1974 killing through DNA testing
DNA connects serial killer Ted Bundy to the death of another Utah teenager, authorities announced Tuesday, exactly 52 years after her body was discovered in the woods by a hunter.
Bundy has been dead since 1989, but the tally of his confirmed victims continues to grow due to advances in DNA testing. He killed at least 30 women and girls in multiple states in the 1970s, and many more escaped or survived with injuries.
Investigators are satisfied that Bundy was responsible for killing 17-year-old Melissa Ann Smith in 1974, a death that had long been listed as a cold case, Summit County Attorney Margaret Olson said at a news conference.
They were able to close the case by making crucial connections with DNA found on Smith and Laura Aime, another Bundy victim whose case was resolved last April in Utah County. Bundy’s DNA was on file in Florida, where he was convicted and ultimately executed.
