This case involves drugs, insanity and murder of parents. It is rare I would agree. At present we don't really have a motive.Patriciide is rare. But, most have happened here. But no country is immune. Look at how many parents kill their children here. It's an epidemic.
It was a deal for 2nd degree murder. The sentencing was to be 20 to 30 years depending on what the judge decided. He got 30 right? Its just an example of someone getting a light sentence with a sh!t excuse that the court fell for.
I am worried this could happen here too.
This isn't the way I understood it at all. It was a deal. he got the highest the judge could give him on 2nd degree. The prosecution could have appealed I suppose.
Appealed on what? I'm confused. Prosecutions can't appeal except maybe during a trial for a decision or something. This was a deal. The whole gummy thing is just his claim and makes for a good headline. He pled guilty to 2nd degree. Nothing to do with insanity. The prosecution could have appealed I suppose.

Sleep driving. That's a good one. There's a guy in Canada who drove in the middle of the night and killed his parents in law.
He was found not guilty due to "sleep walking"
That is what was said in the video yes, for that charge, for what he pled too, so the judge didn't go light on him, he gave him the most he could on it.30 years is the highest sentence?
I recall that one. Drove some distance too if I recall, with turns and you name it. Then had to walk and enter the home and so on.There's a guy in Canada who drove in the middle of the night and killed his parents in law.

The prosecution could have been against it and wanted to prosecute for first degree unless that was what they charged him with. Is that what you are saying?Appealed on what? I'm confused. Only the prosecution can make a deal with him. So how could they have been against it? It was their deal. No one else can make a deal. No one.The prosecution could have been against it and wanted to prosecute for first degree unless that was what they charged him with. Is that what you are saying?
When you take a life you should get life - when you take two lives, you should get two life sentences.
Most likely they were just glad it wasn't being taken to court and the possibility that one lone juror would buy his story and he would get no time at all. There are so many that would buy his story.Only the prosecution can make a deal with him. So how could they have been against it? It was their deal. No one else can make a deal. No one.
I agree with you totally on taking lives and I agree he should be in for life at minimum but I'm just talking of what did happen and why. The judge gave him the max he could for the 2nd degree murder. It was pled down.

I wouldn't, it is a ridiculous story. Not sure many would but they do as many do and made a deal. I don't feel he should have gotten a deal but he did. Most likely they were just glad it wasn't being taken to court and the possibility that one lone juror would buy his story and he would get no time at all. There are so many that still believe the stuff in "Reefer Madness". They would 100% buy it because that's the crap it warns you of. It's even listed as a propaganda film now.I wouldn't, it is a ridiculous story. Not sure many would but they do as many do and made a deal. I don't feel he should have gotten a deal but he did.
I've never smoked pot but I did have someone give me a bag of edibles straight from Colorado. They had absolutely no effect on me, helped not one bit. Not saying there couldn't be stronger ones but he went to a shop and I am sure they have some rules on the strength, etc. and it is just THC.There are so many that still believe the stuff in "Reefer Madness". As a sleepwalker. BULLS***!!!!There's a guy in Canada who drove in the middle of the night and killed his parents in law.

Every state has a limit in THC that an be in each gummy. Minnesota was 15. They lowered it to 3. Worthless.I've never smoked pot but I did have someone give me a bag of edibles straight from Colorado. They had absolutely no effect on me, helped not one bit. More likely if ther was anything wrong at all it was probably his withdrawal from painkillers. But I think it was all just an excuse for committing murder.
We probably should get back to putting the thread on Reiner. But drug use/insanity, there definitely are comparisons.
