Madera police searching for missing 2-year-old boy possibly in danger

Officials say Thaddeus Sran disappeared from his home on C Street between 10 p.m. on Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Madera 2-year-old missing, Police Chief: 'We're not ruling anything out'

The Madera Police Department held a news conference Wednesday afternoon where Police Chief Dino Lawson said he has reached out to the FBI who is assisting with the investigation into the disappearance of 2-year-old Thaddeus Sran.

When asked why there has been no Amber Alert issued, Chief Lawson said, "We're not there yet."

The chief also said the Madera County Sheriff's Department is also assisting with the investigation.

"Everything is on the table. We're looking at everything. We're not ruling anything out," said Chief Lawson.

Police say the 2-year-old child went missing overnight from his home on “C” Street sometime between 10:00 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Thaddeus was born premature and has a feeding tube and is non-verbal.

Thaddeus did recently learn to walk and it's unknown if he was able to walk away or if he was taken.

Police say Thaddeus needs special care and needs to be reunited with his family as soon as possible.

He was last seen wearing a red shirt and Spiderman pants with a diaper underneath. He is approximately two feet tall and weighs 30 pounds.

Police are looking into the possibility that Thaddeus was abducted.

Madera County Sheriff’s Office, US Marshall’s, Federal Bureau of Investigations, and Madera County Probation are assisting with a search and investigation.

Welcome @Alen ! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I haven’t seen the parents at all or even heard a statement from them. Do you happen to have a link to that or remember where you saw it?

I just can’t see a child with limited mobility climbing out the window and making it very far, but it is possible. I know they also had a previous young child die, which is always concerning.
I don't have a link. I searched for it, but I couldn't find it. It most likely have come from twitter or facebook, but it might have came from a news website. I searched DuckDuckGo for "Thaddeus Sran". I tried that, although I didn't see the result again. I'm not exactly sure that it is the parent, although she seems to be familiar around the property. Also, I was thinking that Thaddeus fell out of the window because the window wasn't strong enough.

In a comment in a social media area, I saw someone who said they were familiar with Madera too and that person said that it was hard core prostitution and bars in that area and made it clear she or he did not mean in a minor amount, etc. She said it was a bad area. I was not entirely sure if she meant the address/home area or the city of Madera itself.

Do you have any idea on that? I did look up population and I see it is not a large town/city population wise anyhow...
Well I haven't lived there in over 20 years. However, I can say that I didn't feel comfortable around there. I don't know anything about the prostitution.

Thaddeus could just climbed out the window, or someone could have grabbed him. Both seems very likely, since there is a hole in the fence and that the window is boarded up. Someone could also come in the front door and escape through the window. If Thaddeus got out himself, he might not even be alive. Also, since he has special needs, his parents might not be able to afford or have time for such a child, possibly being involved in the disappearance. I can't find a video where a parent was interviewed, but I did see one earlier. The parent acted as if it was normal to have their kid go missing. That is very strange. Either they know Thaddeus is safe, or they want to get rid of him and they succeeded.
I just saw your post as I came in here to get caught up. I want to welcome you to the site!

:welcome:

Just a remark I saw... Plenty of Madera people remarking on the PD site as well as one would expect. What is true and what is not is anyone's guess...

Interesting, I never thought of that. Children have been known to fall out of windows on occasion or at least a screen pushes out and does not hold them... You know I keep thinking with things like that, a parent would wake up or hear something but then I guess if one had air conditioning running, or fans, a TV on, etc. you may not hear it...

I am trying really hard not to judge but as many say, with a special needs child and particularly in a new home, one would think you would be more alert or have more safeguards but again, maybe they did, I don't know... The fact that there is another infant that died of the mother's also is worrisome... More than one tragedy can befall families no doubt but it does give one pause or reason to wonder...

‘I don’t think the boy was ever here’: Disabled nonverbal tot remains missing as police scale back search

A California boy may have never been at the home his parents reported him missing from, at least according to a theory by a next-door neighbor.

Authorities previously said they were treating the incident as a possible abduction and will not leave any stone unturned. The FBI and the US Marshalls have been assisting in the investigation but last Friday, police scaled back the search after scouring “every inch of the neighborhood,” ABC 30 reports.

The family had only been in the Madera neighborhood for a few weeks when they said Thaddeus vanished, but next-door neighbor Ermelanto Espinoza said he never once saw the child.

I've been wondering about this from the beginning, but there are also not so observant neighbors, too.

Yeah... it was one of my first thoughts. That this baby never even made it to this house.
That being said, this is a medically fragile toddler with limited mobility. He's not going to be running around outside playing in the streets.

I heard something like this last week by a neighbor and it would not surprise me, like we all wonder, when was the last time anyone other than a family member saw the child independently.

However, in this case, a neighbor saying that doesn't mean that much to me as fact. Depends on where the neighbor is too but there is a 4' high fence. This is a child with needs who they might not have seen outside and the family was only there a short time. Do we even know who the family entails? Does dad work does mom? Do they stay at home and not leave the house? Then it is Covid Days still, do they risk taking a special needs child out of the house? So would a neighbor see this child? Does the neighbor work? Could they have moved in with the child when he/she was at work?

I guess it is interesting and fits with I think what most of us think but for me, it doesn't mean much in an ability to add it as a likely fact...

This case though has went dead silent by Madera PD. Four days without a single word and their last post almost sounded conclusive, like we looked and that concludes that. Hopefully they are onto other facets and evidence in the case coming in, like video, cell records...

Welp. There it is.

Parents of missing 2-year-old Madera boy stop cooperating, police say

Madera police announced Tuesday that the parents of Thaddeus stopped cooperating early on in the investigation.

Please know that there are many aspects of this investigation that we cannot comment on publicly at this time. But, we will not stop looking for Thaddeus.

Unfortunately, Thaddeus’ parents stopped cooperating early on in the investigation. We believe their assistance, in this case, would be helpful.

We are hopeful that they will resume cooperating with Madera Police Department detectives and help us to locate Thaddeus.

Well, I am glad they put it out there, they don't always do that. While I still like to wait until we know, before convicting someone, this case has seemed that way from the start and this further just adds more pieces.

Of interest too is it says parents plural. I did try to allow for one may not have been involved.

I wish we knew when they stopped cooperating--right off the bat almost when something didn't add up would be my guess... Could be wrong, however.

Well this will I suppose get people talking already more than they are online, etc. and I would think put the parents under more pressure and scrutiny. I could not even tell you who they are or what they look like but I have seen some info including the former dead infant. SIDS but allegedly with burn marks and more. SIDS to begin with puts my radar up, now add a missing child/infant also/special needs also.

So now, it is a matter of where is he and how do those accountable get brought to justice...? Don't often say this, but I have zero belief this child is alive.

If I recall they were recently back to the home blocked off weren't they? The FBI I think?

I am glad they told the public of the lack of cooperation, I think they should do that in more cases. I would like to hear in the Morphew one for instance and would like to know if they can verify or dispute Barry's alibi... I doubt we will hear it though...

Especially with families that park in their garage all the time. You don't see who all gets in and out of a vehicle. and it looks like privacy fencing, so if they only played out back, neighbors might not ever see them, even if they are there daily.

Not convinced either way though, but that was my first thought when we found out that the family had just moved there.

With a medically fragile child, they *might* have been keeping him at home and sheltered with covid, too.

I see all of those possibilities too, so easy for a neighbor not to notice and who would know... Hec* you could be working, child with a relative, and come into the home with him after picking him up at midnight. Neighbors can't know all.

However, that is not my belief in this case. My belief is Thaddeus was never there or was not for long... And the parents are who I lean towards. I still won't say they did anything as I would hate accusing if wrong, but there is plenty of reason to wonder... And for questions legitimately to exist...

This seems to be mostly a duplicate article but I am going to post it because it is the first one that I have seen confirmation that there was another child that died of this family. Maybe I missed it in previous ones, quite possible, but this one has LE confirm it...

Could Thaddeus be safe all this time? What if Thaddeus climbed out the window and someone saw him, unknowingly abducting a missing child? If this is true, then Thaddeus would be missing for possibly decades, and even himself would not know he is missing. If he fell out of that window, someone would have seen him in the next few hours or days and reported it. Someone would not have taken him in as their own child because they would see that he has a feeding tube. They would have given him to someone else, and they could have not even seen the news. Thaddeus would be living under a new name and birth date, making it almost impossible to find him until he becomes suspicious that he does not have any history before he is two years of age. Also, he would be safe all along.

@Alen I admire your optimism, but I just can't see it.

If Thaddeus did get out or fall out of the window somehow (which I don't believe he did), and he's crawling along (and not just crying outside of the window because he fell out), 99% of anyone who sees him is going to stop and call 911. They're not pick him up and take him home and say, "Oh look, I found a free baby!" or just pass him off to someone else, "Here I got you a baby!"
And even if they did, or if he happened to crawl across the path of a child predator, 99% of those people would not keep him once they realized the amount of medical care he would require.

All of those things, along with the fact that his parents are "not cooperating", does not make me very optimistic. If the parents really believed there was any chance that their baby got out on his own and someone may have picked him up, they would be cooperating and begging for his return.

Though I would love for you to be right, and he just happens to have been taken home by somebody who is going to raise him... I really can't see it.
