Thank you for starting this thread for Scottie ❤️! I saw the original FB post of Eaton PD, on his white t shirt were derogatory things written about him. I dont know the background about this, but he looked heartbroken. Its very concerning and I hope he is found ASAP🙏

EATON, Ind. — A search for a missing 14-year-old Eaton boy entered its fifth day on Monday.

Scottie Dean Morris, 14, left his family's home about 8:30 p.m. Thursday and has not been seen since.

"We've conducted several interviews and polygraph tests," Eaton Police Chief Jay Turner said Monday morning.

<snip>
The searching was to resume Monday in areas including near the iron bridge east of the unincorporated community of Granville, and near other bridges along Eaton-Wheeling Pike.

Officers with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources were also going to search areas of the Mississinewa River.

The searches are not being randomly conducted, Turner said. The Delaware County Emergency Management Agency has helped set up "professional grid searches."

Turner said his department has had no previous dealings with Scottie Morris, who the chief said was described as a "very nice young man" by those who know him, including staff at Delta Middle School.

The teen had apparently been in conflict with adults at his home on Thursday, and after the disappearance, Eaton police at first posted a photo online — reportedly taken earlier that day — that showed the youth looking unhappy and wearing a shirt that had words scrawled on it, referring to the boy as a liar.

The photo was later cropped to no longer show the wording on the shirt. Turner said the photo had been posted quickly because of concerns for the boy's safety, given that he was last seen wearing shorts and a T-shirt on an especially cold evening.

Asked whether the boy's parents were considered suspects in his disappearance, Turner said, "We've done polygraph tests and we're looking elsewhere."

I still hope he is somewhere indoors, safe. But the look on his face on that infamous photo is so sad, makes me afraid that he did something to himself. There is water in proximity to his home...but okay, they are searching and there is still hope 🙏. His mother doesn't impress me, but that's only my personal opinion.

I get that the shirt was and is upsetting to people. But it is apparently the shirt he left home in.

That photo was apparently very close to the time of his disappearance. He looks distraught. :( I hope he needs to clear his head. Or even to get out of that environment to somewhere safe and healthy. I hope he is safe.

He's making me think a lot about Harley Dilly, for those that remember him. :(

Where is Scottie Morris? Fourth day of searches for missing Indiana boy come up empty

Police have once again come up empty-handed in the search for missing 14-year-old Indiana boy Scottie Morris.

The teen disappeared on Thursday night from Eaton, Indiana, a small town just north of Muncie. For days now, search parties have been combing through the small town with no luck.

“Right now we’ve checked everywhere we could possibly think of,” Eaton Police Chief Jay Turner said.

Turner said at this point they don’t see anything criminal about Scottie’s disappearance. However, his parents have been looked into and were given polygraph examinations.

“We’ve done several investigations, several interviews, and all that,” Turner explained. “We’re just trying to check all avenues. We’re not taking anybody off the table right now.”

“It’s a good thing we didn’t find him,” said volunteer Buck Caudill. “Hopefully he’s harbored up somewhere and he’s safe.”

An incident command has been set up at police headquarters where agencies from around the state have come in to assist. Chief Turner said they’ve run out of places to look.

“He’s either been picked up by somebody and no longer in Eaton,” Turner said. “The only other thing I can think of is the schools are on break this week and maybe a family went out of town and he went to their house.”

Chief Turner also addressed rumors on social media that he called “ridiculous” and “horrendous.”

One of these rumors is that Scottie’s parents shaved his head as a punishment, which Chief Turner said was not true. However, he confirmed they are looking into a shirt Scottie was wearing the night he disappeared which contained writing on the front as a kind of punishment.

“No matter what you think about how discipline was done there, that’s something we’re checking into,” Turner said. “I would ask that you please respect them.”

On Tuesday, Chief Turner said officers will be doing another sweep of vacant homes in the town. After that, they will reconvene and decide how to proceed from there.

“The thing is, it’s such a small town and he was just gone so quick,” Turner said. “Without any new tips or any new leads, it’s getting tiring.”

EATON, Ind. — After teams combed the area for three of the past four days trying to find any trace of a missing 14-year-old boy, it's likely formal search operations will end Tuesday.

Scottie Dean Morris has not been seen since he left his family's home about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Jay Turner, police chief in the town of about 1,500 nine miles north of Muncie, said police, emergency responders and volunteers have simply run out of logical places to look for the missing youth.

<snip>
Morris lives with his parents — both employees of Del-Com schools — and three siblings, including a twin sister.

Turner said many of the adults interviewed said Scottie Morris was "the sweetest kid you ever want to meet," described as both "very polite" and "jovial."

The police chief said the teenager apparently tried to run away once before, but that effort was interrupted by a member of his extended family.

Turner also said the boy at times was in conflict with his mother — a fairly common experience for a teenager, he noted — and that there was no evidence he had been physically abused.

"no evidence he had been physically abused"
Notice no mention of "no evidence he had been mentally abused".

EATON, In. — It's been five days now, and still no sign of a missing 14-year-old boy. Tuesday, community members tied green ribbons around the town of Eaton, hoping to keep Scottie Morris on everyone's mind.

WRTV's Amber Grigley spoke to those working to help bring Scottie home.

"We've had some tragedies, but nothing like a missing child," said Meghan Deckman while tying ribbons for Scottie.

<snip>
"I know that you're mad and confused. I am afraid that you're scared of all of this. Everyone is out looking for you, and we're not trying to scare you. You're not in trouble," said Felicia.

Days after his disappearance, the Eaton community is banding together to bring Scottie home.

“That’s just who we are. If your neighbors are in trouble. You help them out," said Deckman.

Green ribbons are dangling from utility poles and light posts for people to think about Scottie in the search to bring him home.

<snip>
The Eaton community will have a candlelight prayer vigil tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Grace and Mercy Full Gospel Church, 301 E Harris Street. If you have any information, call 9-1-1 or Eaton police.
