Pekin boy’s accused killer appears for short court hearing​

The suspect accused of murdering 13-year-old Robert Bee of Pekin a decade ago made a brief appearance Monday in Tazewell County Court.

During the hearing, Keith Brackett, 48, was assigned a new court date to give his lawyer more time to review the case.


Monday, Brackett’s public defender asked for more time to look over the case after the state presented thousands of pages of documents.

Brackett was arrested April 8 of this year and pleaded not guilty to the charges that include first-degree murder and concealment of a homicidal death.

Brackett’s next court hearing is scheduled for July 16.
 

Court hearing in Robert Bee murder case pushed back until September​

A review hearing for a person accused of killing a 13-year-old boy in 2016 has been pushed to September after both prosecutors and her attorneys agreed to continue the hearing.

A hearing had been set for Thursday to review Brackett's case, but both parties agreed to push the hearing back until September 17 at 9 a.m.
