Eight members of one family, the Rhodens, were killed in their Piketon, Ohio homes in April of 2016. All but one were found shot in the heads in their trailers. Their bodies were discovered by other family members.

I thought husband and wife couldn't testify against each other. A subject that came up with Misty Crosley. The dad marrying her after his daughter went missing on her watch.
Spousal privilege doesn't apply in Ohio when a 3rd party is present.

Why would the judge send Billy Wagner home?????????????
Maybe its tongue-in-cheek. I watched the live of the three sentenced earlier today who got 32 years (i think it was) with the chance of parole.

This is the exact sentences they got today based on their plea deals.

Jake Wagner: Judge Jonathan Hein sentenced him eight life sentences and he’s eligible for parole in 32 years because he cooperated with his brother’s case. Jake started off by making a lengthy address to the victim’s families directly.
Angela Wagner: Judge Hein sentenced her to 30 years in prison with time served. According to our media partners at the Cincinnati Enquirer, When Angela is released, she will serve two to five years of probation, and will have to register as a violent offender for 10 years

Rita Newcomb: Judge Hein sentenced her to five years of probation and a suspended sentence of 90 days of which she has already served seven. Newcomb asked the judge if she has to go to jail. Judge Hein said no unless she “acts out”.
PREVIOUS STORY BELOW
WAVERLY, Ohio (WXIX) - Three members of the same family who took plea deals years ago in the 2016 Pike County massacre case were sentenced Friday.
That includes Edward “Jake” Wagner, 32, and his mother, Angela Wagner, 54.
The visiting judge overseeing the cases, retired Darke County Common Pleas Court Judge Jonathan Hein, presided over the sentencings.
Angela Wagner’s mother, Rita Newcomb, was also sentenced.
As part of their plea deals, Jake and Angela Wagner both testified for the state against the eldest Wagner son, George Wagner IV, at his 2022 murder trial.

Another article with a similar recap.

WTF is wrong with this world. Seriously. I do give credit myself when someone at least admits responsibility. Most don't, nor ever will.

But it is ridiculous there would be a parole chance. Imo.

You take a LIFE, you need LIFE unless something like self defense. Imo.

I was so shocked when I got told the whole truth in sentencing was now like 2/3. Some years ago now.

For those who can even type, someone needs to find who all changed these laws, etc under our noses.

Not at anyone.

Of course I love you, Think and hope you know that.

I'm not even going to look at the next one, just can't right now.

It seems to me people don't even blink an eye over it these days. Some do, Many do not.

I'm surprised they got such light sentences. It was 8 people they murdered, correct? I've not really followed this for a long time.
5, I think. The other 3 were killed by other family members, if i interpret correctly.

From the Cincinnati.com link upthread -

"He admitted his guilt on the fifth anniversary of the Pike County homicides, admitting to shooting and killing Dana Manley Rhoden; her children, Frankie, Hanna and Chris Jr. Rhoden; and Frankie's future wife, Hannah Hazel Gilley. Wagner's father, who will soon face trial in the case, has been implicated in the remaining deaths – those of brothers Chris and Kenneth Rhoden, and their cousin, Gary Rhoden."

I agree! I really don’t understand the sentencing either, and I think there’s a lot of people that are angry about it.
